Best wishes, and thanks for raising the issue and for the replies that came in after Friday. I downloaded the Yamaha software synth as suggested and tried it with some old (as in from last century!) midi files I purchased on a licensed, commercial Led Zeppelin 3.5" floppy disk. The drums and some other sounds from the Yamaha were not as good as the TTS-1 and not as good as my memory of whatever my computer used last century (possibly a sound card chip), BUT: the lead guitar on the suggested Yamaha was great!!!! Not sure I will reorchestrate it, but if I do, I'd use the TTS-1 as the base with the Yamaha on the guitar track.

If I had that issue, I'd check to make see if midi data is getting into my computer from the controller/keyboard. I would try MIDI-OX as well as recording midi data. If data is coming in, I'd look for how the data is being routed to my sound device(s) and check settings that control the sound.

I will carve out some time this week to explore when I use Ctrl+Z. IIRC I have run across differences when undo does and doesn't work when different windows had focus. Also IIRC some tasks are not undoable within a window when other tasks are undoable. I will try to find some examples.

As for the Event List needing Scroll Lock functionality, when I need to edit something, I stop / pause the playback. I can respect that others might have a use for stopping the the movement while the music continues. I never tried this until just now. For me the song continued to play and the Event List continued to scroll. Do I need to change any settings to get the SCRL LOCK key to pause just the event view display?

I vaguely recall there was a discussion of possible alternatives. If nothing else, you should be able to use GM hardware modules. A few months ago (maybe more), I reconnected one of my Roland M-GS64 Sound Modules and it worked to play some non-original midi files I had. If I find the link to the discussion of software GM compatible softsynths, I will add it below (unless someone else beats me to it).

Unless I am mistaken there are unique things that belong to different views (and modes within those views) that can't use Ctrl+Z to undo what has just been done.

To me the beauty of having different views is that you can do different things with them and some views have methods that are better for some workflows than other views. Sorry, I appreciate diversity and would not want all views to have the same features, functions, methods, etc. Making all views function the same way and/or in the same manner where there is some overlap runs the risk of getting rid of some uniqueness that fits workflows that some people prefer.

Just to be clear, for me expressing humor and addressing serious issues are not mutually exclusive. On occasion I have referred to GASaholics in what might be considered a lighthearted tone (such as "GASaholics of the world, Unite!!!). To me these kinds of statements serve a positive role and should not be taken to be poking fun at the expense of people who might be considered "Recovering GASaholics." I use a similar list of personal questions and strategies and find they work for me--for the most part. In fact, now that I think about it, one personal strategy stems dates back a few decades to when I quit smoking cigarettes.

Good to know. Are there other free/sampler REmatrix libraries? I have: Hybrid Free, REmatrix SOLO, Blackstar/Blackstar [Multilayer], Dusty Racks Free, and (as of today) Studio Sessions FREE. Disclaimer: I haven't found a use for these, but I still find listening to the sampler libraries useful in case I might someday find a pack I might want to buy.

FYI For those who already have REmatrix, the steps are essentially the same: Skip to Step 5 (download by clicking on the link) then do Step 6 (drag & drop file), press Cancel (instead of knocking yourself out looking for a serial number to enter).

The Q&A subforum allows us as viewers to display Answers either By Date or By Votes. It is at the top when it has the most number of votes when sorted by date. Tied votes are in date order.

FYI: Introducing MCenter (News item). The date (February 12th) jives with the date of your acquisition. Just as a user of Melda products, I was under the impression that if a module is added to a bundle you have licensed, it will be added to your account. I was also under the impression that to install a freebie from Melda you had to have it checked when you updated your products (under the prior Download system). If you want you could write to Melda Customer Support, or ask in the Official Melda Forum at KVR. UPDATE: Here's a search link for the forum for "MCenter." One of the posts mentions MCenter being added to several bundles. From the changelog that was posted: As for notifications, I received one PR e-mail on Feb 12th and one on Feb 18th.
