  1. I was responding to this: Not this: For decades I have been opposed to symmetry, parallelism, etc. just for the sake of symmetry, parallelism, etc. Some people want / need things to look alike, sound alike, be alike, behave alike, etc. for the benefit of their personal workflows. As for the Event List needing Scroll Lock functionality, when I need to edit something, I stop / pause the playback. I can respect that others might have a use for stopping the the movement while the music continues. I never tried this until just now. For me the song continued to play and the Event List continued to scroll. Do I need to change any settings to get the SCRL LOCK key to pause just the event view display?
  2. Are Lenny and the SquigTones a prequel from the days before there were prequels? Foreshadowing? An example of the benefits of Time Travel? Just for the fun of it, here's a real news segment (2003) about the legendary 1960s folk trio the Folksmen who were immortalized in "A Mighty Wind."
  3. Thanks. I do understand the need to change passwords with upgraded websites. I just wish I wouldn't have to pretend I forgot it because lying is so endemic.
  4. No wonder pwd doesn't work any more: "We recently upgraded our website. Please reset your password to use the new system." Heads Up: In order to reset your pwd you might have to lie and say you forgot your pwd. Oh well; you can't fight city hall marketing culture. 😜
  5. I vaguely recall there was a discussion of possible alternatives. If nothing else, you should be able to use GM hardware modules. A few months ago (maybe more), I reconnected one of my Roland M-GS64 Sound Modules and it worked to play some non-original midi files I had. If I find the link to the discussion of software GM compatible softsynths, I will add it below (unless someone else beats me to it).
  6. Unless I am mistaken there are unique things that belong to different views (and modes within those views) that can't use Ctrl+Z to undo what has just been done.
  7. To me the beauty of having different views is that you can do different things with them and some views have methods that are better for some workflows than other views. Sorry, I appreciate diversity and would not want all views to have the same features, functions, methods, etc. Making all views function the same way and/or in the same manner where there is some overlap runs the risk of getting rid of some uniqueness that fits workflows that some people prefer.
  8. Just to be clear, for me expressing humor and addressing serious issues are not mutually exclusive. On occasion I have referred to GASaholics in what might be considered a lighthearted tone (such as "GASaholics of the world, Unite!!!). To me these kinds of statements serve a positive role and should not be taken to be poking fun at the expense of people who might be considered "Recovering GASaholics." I use a similar list of personal questions and strategies and find they work for me--for the most part. In fact, now that I think about it, one personal strategy stems dates back a few decades to when I quit smoking cigarettes.

  10. To be fair to the OP, the e-mail I just looked at (from earlier today), says "For One Week Only."
  11. Good to know. Are there other free/sampler REmatrix libraries? I have: Hybrid Free, REmatrix SOLO, Blackstar/Blackstar [Multilayer], Dusty Racks Free, and (as of today) Studio Sessions FREE. Disclaimer: I haven't found a use for these, but I still find listening to the sampler libraries useful in case I might someday find a pack I might want to buy.
  12. FYI For those who already have REmatrix, the steps are essentially the same: Skip to Step 5 (download by clicking on the link) then do Step 6 (drag & drop file), press Cancel (instead of knocking yourself out looking for a serial number to enter).
  13. The Q&A subforum allows us as viewers to display Answers either By Date or By Votes. It is at the top when it has the most number of votes when sorted by date. Tied votes are in date order.
  14. FYI: Introducing MCenter (News item). The date (February 12th) jives with the date of your acquisition. Just as a user of Melda products, I was under the impression that if a module is added to a bundle you have licensed, it will be added to your account. I was also under the impression that to install a freebie from Melda you had to have it checked when you updated your products (under the prior Download system). If you want you could write to Melda Customer Support, or ask in the Official Melda Forum at KVR. UPDATE: Here's a search link for the forum for "MCenter." One of the posts mentions MCenter being added to several bundles. From the changelog that was posted: As for notifications, I received one PR e-mail on Feb 12th and one on Feb 18th.
  15. I seem to recall that an explanation was either given or referenced within the past year. If so and I stumble onto it, I will post a link to the post I have in mind.
  16. THIS [in the FAQs] is a link to a pdf of drum / note assignments (General MIDI PERCUSSION Key Map) at musescore.org
  17. Since I had no prior experience with the free Monster Drum plug-in, first I downloaded the latest version, unzipped it, placed it in the VST3 folder, and rescanned my plug-ins since I have CbB set up to do manual [on demand] plug-in scans. Then I found one of their libraries [I chose one of the Monster Ethnica library files], unzipped that onto an SSD, and then pointed the Monster Drum VST3 plug-in to use that library. So far so good. It seems to work as intended. As the other CbB very experienced users have stated, to better help you above and beyond the general information they have already provided, more information would be useful. I haven't looked at the tutorial you recommend yet, but I would add one thing. With the library you have chosen, I am not sure tapping the pads on the UI allow you to record MIDI note data. In my experience, using a mouse to tap or press virtual triggers in a UI does not generate recordable note data. The library I chose to test has either a keyboard or various trigger pads depending on the preset. I was not able to change the plug-in itself to generate MIDI data from Cakewalk's Instrument plug-in window. So, to record notes onto a Cakewalk Instrument Track assigned to Monster Drum, I used my usb MIDI keyboard. Although I don't use CbB's Step Sequencer, I tested that and it works in the sense that I was able to (1) enter notes, (2) hear the notes, and (3) record the notes. I seem to recall @Starship Krupa's posting some details about using CbB's Step Sequencer. Perhaps those might be useful to you. He even listed Monster Drum as a favorite in the Freeware Instruments Thread. Thanks for mentioning this free plug-in. It looks like it has quite a number of libraries. I look forward to learning more about Monster Drum.
  18. If you have a pair (down / up), you might /probably want to delete both to avoid mysteries later on.
  19. Personal choice, but I like a file-finding tool called "Everything" from VoidTools. You might prefer others; this is just the one I use. My custom search presets include: *.cpw, *.dll, *.pdf, *.syx, *.voltagepreset, *.vst3 just to give you an idea of my priorities for quick searches. ADDENDUM: LOL (laughing at myself): I don't use Ableton, but I just did a Folder Search for "Ableton" and evidently at some point I had versions of either Ableton or Ableton Contents. Actually, it seems that NI has installed some of those Folders.
