    Activation woes

I know there have been recent discussions but old age and weather conditions prevent me from finding them. So this is from memory: The last time I checked Bandlab Assistant was no longer used/needed because of the functions available through CbB's Menu Bar > Help items. Over the past several months whenever I got the red Activation-about-to-expire message, I used the built-in menu bar and that worked. Sometimes I needed to log out of Bandlab and then use the Help item that links to the Bandlab login page (not Bandlab Assistant). But in my experience, I didn't need to activate every day, usually once a month at most and perhaps when there is an update. UPDATE: I found a current link (help center, not discussion from users) which might help. If not exact, the process under the In-App tab looks nearly identical to what has been working for me. https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/articles/900006210046-Activating-Cakewalk-by-BandLab .
  2. Thanks for the reply. I stand corrected. For me the Full Bundle doesn't have a discounted %, and nor does the Odd Meters MIDI Pack, but on my PC, it looks like everything else has a discounted percentage. (I just triple checked; everything except those two are showing a discount % off of what I assume is List Price. Maybe I am seeing a webpage from yesterday that's in my PC's Cache. If you don't mind looking up two things: What prices do you see for USYNTH Caramel and USYNTH New Titles Bundle? For Caramel, I see $79.99 (-76%) $19 and for the New Titles Bundle, I see $237.99 (-79%) $49. But that might be in my browser's Cache from yesterday. Thanks.
  3. Any idea what they mean by "current promotions?" It looks like all of the products are already on sale. So if there is one that has been on sale for $29 (62% off $79.99), is the 44% off the $29 price or the $79.99 price?
  4. I found some of the answers from the WUP FAQS:
  5. I think I see what KVR does: unlike website partnership based freebies I have received from Waves, KVR generates a zero-cost order/invoice more like perks from third-party vendors. FWIW, the link above still contains "To be in with a chance to win this giveaway, simply complete the form below and cross your fingers!" BTW, where the page says "IMPORTANT - Serial numbers need to be activated here before July 10th, 9am EST" they want the "Voucher / Code for redemption on other website." In other words, the Code from the KVR Invoice needs to be used on the Waves "activated here" page. However, that doesn't activate the plug-in. I had to download the latest Waves Central Software (15.0.2) where I can choose to activate it if I want. I have some questions which some of you who are experienced with Waves' ecosystem might be able to help with. I have some V 13 and V14 plug-ins. This one from the GIveaway is my only V 15 plug-in. If I activate it, (1) will it mess up my ability to use the V 13 and V 14 plug-ins, (2) will it require me/obligate me to update the older plug-ins to V 15, and (3) will it require me/obligate me to purchase an infamous Waves Update Plan? ** I am starting to see why some people talk about WUP in the forum. **UPDATE: I found some of the answers from the WUP FAQS. (See next post.)
  6. Between you and me, I think it's intended to be a promotion to build customer lists (Waves and KVR) by giving away licenses to many people, but in posting the "Giveaway" rules, someone messed up. Or maybe they intended to mess up. Seriously, maybe there will be one winner who will be selected at random to get an Everything Bundle from Waves and everyone else who enters gets a MetaFilter license (as long as they don't try to game the system with multiple entries. Hmmmmmmm. Either way, congratulations!
  7. This confused me at first, too. I just re-read it and it still strikes me as ambiguous. Maybe they have an unstated limit of licenses to give away. Note (above): singular - winner. Note (above): plural - winners. I hope you didn't say you understand and agree to the Terms and Conditions. As written I don't see how anyone can answer that honestly. ?
  8. Did a very quick test several hours ago. New Download Manager seems to have worked. So far MSF 17.00 (VST3) seems to work within Voltage Modular's new update (2.9.2). Thanks to users for the alerts on things to check.
  9. I stand corrected: a 4-semitone musical difference based on a 48Khz v. 44.1Khz sampling error / transposition would be drastic.
  10. This sample rate difference (44.1K v. 48) was my first thought, too. Approx. four semitones (approx. minor 3rd) sounds about right to me. Example: C to A : 220 Hz to 256 Hz = a ratio of approx. 0.86 [ 220 / 256 ] the 44.1KHz to 48 KHz ratio = approx. 0.91 [ 44.1 / 48 ] Comparison withdrawn; see discussion below.
  11. I got Freezr as part of a multi-product mixed bundle. Just pulled it out to refresh my memory. I probably didn't give it a test drive to see if I would use it because the font is way too small--even with the plug-in window maximized on mon 2 (which I run at 175%). Tool tips are in a larger font. I can easily read "Show presets panel." It is a strain to read the preset names. That's it; just a brief heads up. Caveat emptor.
  12. Unintentional pun? (1) They are closing up shop. (2) The software itself is having "life support" issues.
  13. Even Cakewalk for MS-DOS let us select the number of times a track would loop.
  14. What did they say? If Ugritone tested their products with CbB, they should know if they implemented some specific methods that don't work with CbB. (I can't imagine they didn't test CbB.) Just a guess: Since you mention midi files, maybe all of their files use some specific midi commands that cause an issue.
  15. LOL. Your first post convinced me not to do an impulse buy. But you went ahead and bought/installed it!!!!!! Other than the preset names, have you developed enough of a hands-on, informed opinion to do a brief advantage-disadvantages review (a good for X, not good for Y review)? Thanks. UPDATE: Currently trying the 30-day demo for myself; so, no need for a review. Testing in Voltage Modular (my go-to app for getting baseline assessments via VM's plug-in host). Personal positives: 200+ automatable (easily controllable by CV) parameters Very reasonable CPU load (doesn't tax my 2012 era audio PC) Flexibility per @John Nelson: one of the most versatile and straightforward delay apps. Comprehensive preset menu, too. So, thanks for inspiring me to give it a try.
  16. Did you do a binary comparison of the *.cwp and *.assets files using the MS-DOS File Compare tool? FC *.cwp *.assets /B
  17. If interested in this issue, the YouTuber known as "Top Music Attorney" has a reaction video to the "WTF Udio" video. It's a typical reaction video (setup, plays video segments, comments on video, adds opinion(s), etc.). Jesse Josefsson also has a conversation video with her. Top Music Attorney also has a conversation video. "YouTubers of the World, UNITE!"
  18. Interesting. I had not heard of him, but he definitely made an impact on the history of music from our era.
  19. I saw that news segment!!! Found the dynamics between them interesting (as well as what they were saying).
  20. Yeah; it can be frustrating. I think I wrote up the procedure I used a few weeks ago. I will see if I can find that post. IIRC, I logged out of Bandlab via the CbB Help Menu, and then logged back in by going to the Bandlab site (again from the link in CbB's Help Menu). PS: I am not on Cakewalk's staff, so I have no authority to acknowledge anything about alleged user-hostility with the activation process/messaging. I am just a user and try to share my experiences in case they help other users. UPDATE:
  21. Personally, I have long thought evolving textures and arps/sequences/beatz went well together when properly layered with progressive development as you've demonstrated here. Nice one here!!!! Thanks for sharing.
