FREE Sample Pack of your Choice at Intimate Noise
DeeringAmps replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
Schools closed, spring training cancelled and the season at risk (who cares about basketball and hockey!) I could go on and on... and now this? t I'm mad as hell and I can't take it anymore! -
Yikes! That's not what I meant! Oh boy, stuck my big foot in another one... t
-
and throw in a little Union Station I must say I agree with you both! t
-
Not so much a "mix" comment, but I "hear" a quick double tap on the kick in those "pauses"; just me. As far as the mix, sure there are some levels and little things, mostly "stylistic", but a few that need addressing. Not sure on the kick, Bose cans are so "hyped" I can't give accurate advice there, but I'm thinking it needs something. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen! Right? All said and done; fine tune! Gotta give you some props there! t

Don’t change things to please me. If it makes sense, give it a try. But always, always, be true to your vision. As I said, we would have a conversation, and go with what best serves the song. t
-
Drop the "ands" in the verse and "See a smile from across the room, its amazing". Sometimes "meter" is way more important than "grammar" maybe "Just a smile is all it took, to get my heart beating again" hold "smile" and "heart" that "took" is short and beat ting a gin, those are 8ths (I think), tat tat tat tat; if you follow? I'm pretty sure I've got you "riled" up by now, but if I'm behind the glass, this is the conversation we're having. One last crit, if I may, where's the kick? I'm hearing the snare, where's the rest of the kit? Please don't take any of the personally, like I said above; this is the conversation we'd be having. If I didn't see hear "something" in the tune, there'd be no conversation... t
-
No "maybe?" there!!!

Let's be honest here Pat, this charted at #3 back in the day, and evidently the Guardians sound track went #1? This is a big tune! And Mickey Thomas, not Elvin (wisely), tore it up with the vocal! Total honesty here, not a personal attack, but why am I not surprised? (facebook response) This is not a "straight" cover. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're going for a kind of Hendrixy guitar, on what was a keys driven pop tune. You're gonna have to "massage" this backing track, and then if I'm behind the glass, don't "force" the vocal. I'd try it laid back, almost conversational. But that's just me... Again, honestly? not so much. Don't take any of this personal, I have a looong history of taking on big vocals, and more guitar (your guitar work is fine, so this comment is sole about me and not you!) than I can handle. Baby, I've walked this "trail of tears", I got the scars to prove it!

I present this only for its historical perspective, and so consider it not to be a violation of our TOS: in 1972 then President Richard Nixon was seeking re-election, he was unaffectionately known as "Tricky Dick". There were two posters out, one with the phrase "Would you buy a used car from this man?". The other "Don't change Dicks in the middle of a screw". I'll leave it to your imagination... Thank you, but you as well are far too kind. That or a grinding harp with the "whoo whoo" train sound! t the axe
-
Bjorn, you are too kind. This bad boy is "public domain" now, bring it on! t
-
Glad we didn't start that pool, I'd of lost my tushy! t
-
We are friends!? t
-
Can't take credit for that, but I jumped on pretty quickly. The muse tortured me for two night running with this, then inspired me to go public. I live but to serve my queen; She shall have her way... the true test of our friendship, is never having to alter our beliefs, to maintain that friendship. t remember, Ralph Murphy's law of songwriting: "we write songs about people we've never met, doing things we've never done, in places we've never been"

Got it! Dave does lots of reviews so he might have some ideas for you. That's why I did the @ thingy, I get the impression he'll get a notification: Some "*****-wipe" mentioned you in a topic... ? t censored again, Hey gawd dam it, I'm old, I have "adult onset tourettes syndrome", I'm covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act for Chriss sakes... #$%&@)(&%$!^&*()

"On Your Way" - a song about hope against addiction
DeeringAmps replied to bats brew's topic in Songs
Again, I own the record; another "hottie"! What more can I say... t Well, Bats pretty good at what he does. just pretty good? I don't want to sound like a total fan boi shill... -
Use in a song; yes. Bundle and resale; nein!
-
Our good friend Dave @bitflipper is “fluent” in FabFilter, also does a lot of reviewing. Maybe he’ll chime in with some ideas. t

Are you sure this is the right key for the vocal, Jesse mentioned it sounds a little "forced"; I don't think D is the right key for you. I am right, its in D? I listened, pulled the cans, picked up the guitar, didn't play along. whatever, I'd try at least a half step... t
-
Well, you've got a good start here. Where do you want to go with it? I'd start by "massaging" the drum track, say at the 0:28 mark, begin to get a little more movement going. Then you got to ramp things up, some kind of "big reveal", with a vocal or a lead instrument. So far so good. (added) And of course, listen to Dan below, as always, his observations are "spot on". t

Not really a “mathematician”, I’m a guitar player, no way I was wearing a pocket protector! But I was good at it (not guitar, the math). Stats was the one thing I hated most! When something goes up by 50%, then goes back to the same; it’s a 33% reduction; what? figures never lie, but liars figure. ‘nuff said... t hey, we could start a pool, how quick do ya think they’ll shut this down?
-
Hey Dave & Doug, thank you both for your kind words. Got to put a little “spit & polish” on this bad boy yet; I’m working on it... t

Invisible - latest experiment - latest mix 3/16/20
DeeringAmps replied to Lynn Wilson's topic in Songs
Wow, I think this one is as strong as any on your page! Looks like I can d/l it so I'll take it out to the studio before I dig into a critical analysis, but as a "listener", well as I said "strong as any on your page"... t -
A&R was all in a fluster! Well, here's the single! t

Jesse, When Vincent (Alice Cooper) called Zappa, all in a dither over the baby chickens on stage, he swore it wasn't his idea or his fault. Zappa replied "don't tell anybody else that!" Its all part of the "performance" man, all part of the "master" plan. all long as they spell you name right... I luv ya brother, t that don't mean I want to take long hot showers with ya though!
