Key change mid-song? #musicrelated #sensible
DeeringAmps replied to SteveStrummerUK's topic in The Coffee House
There are no rules. Remember, “music theory” is the way those of us in “awe” explain what those that amaze us are doing. t -
I don’t think so. I do the HFA Songfile on the few covers I have up. t

Production quality is certainly progressing Jesse. I like it, hope the burro is happy. I'm in with some ?'s! t penolope is the burro?
-
Make the project file “read only”? my templates are all cwp files and are “read only” (I set that in windows). t

In fairness MOTU has a good reputation and their pricing appears to be substantially less than RME. I just took a look over to Sweetwater and kind of did an "apples to apples" comparison. I've been in the RME camp (UFX and BabyFace here) for a long time (bought both before the "newer" versions were available). I can see where someone looking to upgrade their I/O would take a good hard look at MOTU. I use and know RME, so I'm comfortable recommending same... t Anybody have the RME ARC controller? I hate when I adjust something in TotalMix and forget to "click" in Cake again and lose "focus". Remember, when I start Record or Playback, I'm using the 1884 transport ?, not the moose ?

Yes they do, but I do believe originally they were more Mac oriented; IIRC. And again this was back in the MIDI sequencer days. Although as I said the MIDI Express I had worked fine in Windows. For some reason I remember a story about MOTU and Cakewalk staff having a softball game and the losers (motu) having to write some code? Maybe? And I want to say that’s where the notion that MOTU (in those days) was more Mac oriented? Maybe someone will set me straight... t <disclaimer>I’m a guitarist of a “certain” age, sometimes I have trouble keeping these old stories straight, or not </disclaimer>

If I read your issue correctly, I think you are not "locking" the position of the clips. Its over in the "Properties" in the Inspector "I" on the keyboard if its not open in track view. I most always do some kind of "scratch" take to create the tempo map from. Beat one needs to be "locked" to a measure, generally marked "COUNT" (its never measure 1 for me). Then a "tempo" needs to be set at that measure, that way as you set tempos later on the "clip" stays locked to timeline. Hope that makes sense... tom ie: 1 5 7 11 ETC. COUNT INTRO VERSE 1 100bpm 100bpm 100bpm 99.5bpm

All seriousness aside ? I think MOTU is a little more MAC oriented? I had a MOTU midi interface years ago, it was solid;but RME is so well known for its drivers it was a no-brainer for me.

Star-Lit Skies Collab with Douglas Kirby (Updated)
DeeringAmps replied to Boomin36Beatz's topic in Songs
I hear it fine on the DT990's here, but its just a low "growl" (for want of a better adjective). I think Jack is right, maybe as simple as doubling it with a bass, even high pass the bass a bit (a lot?) just to "define" the notes. Its a "taste" thing, more than anything. I always emphasize the "click" of the beater on the kick, more than anything to say "here I am"! Again, its a "taste" thing, some don't like it at all (I mention it in reviews, some agree and some "oh no" don't want that). (not a crit of your kick, just comparing that to using a bass the same way) Oh, BTW, Cool Stuff! Good on ya both again... ?'s t -
Made me think of Incense and Peppermints, don't know why, the organ maybe? Vocals seem to stand out better (cleaner, easier to follow). I might eq the guitar a little different (its a little lost in the mix; mids not right?) could be my ears today... t

drivers, drivers, drivers... t Yep, there's a tutorial on my site (see sig); works a treat!
-
Claudio your work always "creeps" me out in a good way. This one, this one is tough; I had to shut it off. That's a rabbit hole I can't do today. I will try to get back to it.... t your soundtrack, ? on what I heard. the rest (video and voice over), YIKES! precisely why I had to let it go...

Me too, before the FW1884. @Bapu the 1884 a door stop now? t
-
Bad, I still use the 1884 as a control surface, but I have been using the RME UFX for audio I/O for several years now. 8 line in and 4 mic pres. All 8 line ins are connected to various dedicated pres and compressors. Works a treat! RME is pricey, but it’s all about drivers, drivers, drivers. I’d feel naked without the 1884’s control, but when it became obvious they would eventually be moved to the scrap heap, I began preparing for an 1884less future. drivers, drivers, drivers... t don’t know what I’ll do eventually for control, but for now the RME/1884 combo are great. The UFX’s versatility and the TotalMix software are a vast improvement </fanboi>

LMAO! ?'s liking the solo a lot. t
-
Enjoyed this ?! Just a little niggle on the "bends" in the flute; not a deal breaker. t
-
Not so much. But ?’s to the 1884; priceless! t
-
Cool! ?

Ever seen Zappa’s movie 200 Motels. This would fit right into that soundtrack. t @Bajan Blue ”rip off a few more towels Jeff” ”this town is a sealed tuna sandwich” come to think of it, the relationship I was in at the time didn’t survive the movie and The Mother’s at the Pauly Pavilion performance. um...
