Nigel Intriguing title which I'm still trying to get my head around. ? Gorgeous well done video, something you'd expect from a professional and maybe you are? Well done all around.

That's a beautiful melody you're playing. I didn't expect the metronome, the jet plane, the disco beat, the whistling, or the dubstep bass, but that's okay! Piano sounds fine to me.

Sounds really good on my headphones, Gary. Like you're in the audience and hearing the different sections from where they're placed in the orchestra.

These kindergarten kids are pretty darn good, but the whole thing is just kinda creepy. I wonder about the teaching methods over there.

Dan I recognized High Road as something from you since I think you have a signature sound/style to your music. Just sit back, relax, let the music take hold and you won't be disappointed. The mix sounds really good to my ear. Welcome back! Bjorn

Jim Fun song and fun video. The song reminds me of what it's like driving around Klamath Lake in southern Oregon. Splattered bugs all over the front of your car. Can't even read the license plate. Hope your daughter is or becomes an accomplished musician like yourself. One man band for sure.

Freddy Never heard Klonopin in a song before. Those discordant notes work really well considering the subject. Coming up with a blues song about panic attacks/anxiety might be kinda therapeutic actually. I'm thinking of Neil Diamond's Song Sung Blue which can perk you up, if you can tolerate Neil Diamond.

Gary Remarkable how good this sounds, like listening to the classical radio station in town. So I compared versions 2 and 3 and I like version 2 better. Sounds "fuller" to me. Version 3 seems to be missing those lower stringed instruments which come in around :03. (I should mention that my hearing needs to be taken into account here. It ain't what it used to be.)

Everything's very well done esp the vocal. Pretty sinister sounding dude. He's saying all this to his wife? Who is still alive? Wow. I thought at first that your other post about the Scorned Woman was related to this song, like they're both part of the same story, but guess not. Seems to me like you need another song or more to tell the whole story. Nits I wanted the guitar to stand out more at ~3:35 The song is pretty long, though it didn't seem that way the first time through. On the second listen I noticed that the lyrics kept repeating themselves, so I don't know, you could trim a bit there. Just my lonely opinion.

Steve Thanks again for taking the time to comment. Mark Thanks. It's mainly spoken because my singing... well you know. Geeare1 Thanks. I didn't notice the reverb much until mentioned here on the forum. Gonna back off on it when I get around to re-doing the song. Douglas Thanks. Hmmm, psychedelic? I'm definitely backing off on the reverb! David Thanks. My 1st reaction to your comment was...whaaat? But then, yeah I can see your scenario. Open mic night at a coffee shop in the Village. Hipster expounding about a traffic light.

Jesse Lots of interesting things going on in there. Really like the guitar solo and the change up around 1:55. And the Hendrix nod at the end. You really do need to make the vocal stand out more. I know that I'm old and all, but I just couldn't catch much of the lyrics.

What do you mean by "your Samsung HD camera"? If you mean a Samsung Galaxy phone I'm able to import the videos from my phone to my win10 computer either by using an OTG cable or simply by removing the memory card from the phone and using a card reader. From there I can edit the video file (without converting it to anything else) in my video editor. I use Vegas Pro or DaVinci or lately HitFilm pro. And if you didn't mean a Samsung Galaxy phone, then never mind.

kloon Glad you got into the mood ? of the song. Thanks for commenting. Tom Thanks for the suggestion on the GR preset. I'm pretty much a rookie with that stuff. freddy Thanks! I'll take the smokey/gravelly description of my voice. Much better than "dull whisper" which is my opinion.

Impressive guitar work, but also impressive recording of that guitar. The tone is just so good.
-
Douglas, you seem to have an endless supply of great songs. Hope you keep it up.

Is that finger snap supposed to be in there? Kind of hard to ignore it, but good tune. The song seems a little too "narrow" to me, like the instruments need to be separated more. Volume change at 3:30 stands out. Thanks for posting.

A riff, 3 chords and a bridge is pretty much all you ever need. And a good story which you certainly have here. Really like all the old photos on the YouTube video. They were probably taken when I was the same age as those kids.

Red Light Blues Traditional 12 bar blues style with a couple of modifications. I've been learning the guitar the last few months and I worked up the nerve to record myself improvising to an Am Pentatonic Blues scale. I'm playing a Schecter Demon 6 into NI Guitar Rig 5 (Overexposure preset). I'm not at all familiar with guitar amps and effects and such but I think the GR preset I used sounds pretty good. Still have a lot of trouble using a pick - I keep hitting the wrong string pretty often but getting better at it. ? I haven't tweaked anything much. Just want to get an idea how it sounds so far. Keith Cool tune and not your average subject matter for a song. I think the vocal fx could be backed off a bit mainly to help the clarity of the lyrics. The vocal seemed to be competing too much with the instruments so maybe raise the volume. There was a brass instrument in the intro that didn't come in again, at least I didn't notice it. (Maybe too nit-picky there and just a matter of taste.) I think the end needs a definite ending and not a fadeout. Good job on the song. I like it.

Christmas card from your nutty Aunt Jane.

Beautiful. You don't need anything more than your voice and guitar really, but the video is a plus. And I liked the one static shot in the video which gives the viewer another emotional dimension to the song. I like your smile at the end too.

"Don't answer that phone" I love your sense of humor, Freddy. I've been listening to your songs a bit more closely lately trying to pick up some bluesy licks I could learn from, or steal. ?

Mark One of those songs that brightens up the morning and puts a smile on your face. The cello can be such an expressive instrument and I thought you played it very well. Really like how it interacts with the other instruments, though I wanted the cello brought out a bit more. I didn't get an Indian feel except maybe at the end but that's okay. If you really want an Indian sound I'd recommend Native Instruments India - amazing stuff.

Humble Bundle - Filmmakers ( inc Hitfilm Pro 14.1 )
bjornpdx replied to aidan o driscoll's topic in Deals
I've been using Vegas for years and currently on v16. Because it crashes a lot and I just wanted to try something different I recently went for the free DaVinci Resolve and now HitFilm Pro. Resolve is good but it has a whole other way of doing things compared to Vegas or Adobe Premiere. HitFilm seems geared more for special effects and you get a bunch of those with the Humble deal (and they work in Vegas too. Haven't checked Resolve) . I caught on to the HitFilm way of doing things pretty fast and so far it seems stable. It probably won't replace Vegas but it's good for the brain to try out new stuff.
