Instrument Definition for the JD-08
Promidi replied to Bill Campbell's topic in Instruments & Effects
You could probably modify an existing one as they are standard text files (with a *.ins extension) The one you could probably start from is roland.ins, which is in your Cakewalk resources folder -
USB Expression pedal /MIDI issues in Cakewalk---Resolved

So when you enable MIDI learn on Amplitude 5, and move the pedal, does anything happen? Have you enabled input echo on the MIDI track? -

BBC Symphony Orchestra crashing Cakewalk

What about audio interface? Installed latest drivers for all hardware (including Nvidia - latest Studio Drivers are version 516.93). What driver mode (should be using native ASIO , not ASIO4ALL)? What sample rate, bit depth and buffer size are you using. ....and yes, ram is a bit slim. Also, your CPU (released Q1'09) is even older than mine. -
BBC Symphony Orchestra crashing Cakewalk

BBC Symphony Discover (as well as Core) works fine here on my PC configured as per my signature. Can we please have your PC specs. -
If you decide on F'em, make sure you do a deep trial first I can make F'em crash in any host, any iteration (PC specs in sig). I have reported this to Tracktion support.

Here is some more detail regarding my issue with Tracktion F'em When I click any “Assign” button and then an element in the FM Matrix, F'em, as well as any host, ceases to respond to any mouse input. The plugin still produces sound in response to MIDI keyboard input. See Attachment Here is what I have tried but has no effect: In F'em settings, turned Multi Core on or off In F'em settings, Turned Open GL on or off Tried VST2 and VST3 iterations Tried many hosts (TONE2, VSTHost, Cakewalk by Bandlab 2022.6 Build 34) When this occurs, no new events appear in the Windows system or Application logs. No new entries appear in the %APPDATA%\Tracktion\F-em.log file I have lodged a detailed ticket wth Tracktion suport.

I just hope they can improve its stability. In its current state, I would be a bit miffed if I payed full price for this thing. Crashes on latest CbB, Tone2 and VSThost (VST2 VST3, tried multicore on/off, OPEN GL on/off) For me what happens is I touch the wrong parameter and the GUI stops responding in the host and the plugin itself (the synth itself still sounds in response to MIDI notes). The only way to exit it is “end task” the host. I have seen on some forums others are having stability issues for F'em as well.

USB Expression pedal /MIDI issues in Cakewalk---Resolved

Does the Crumar UP4 show up in Preferences - MIDI - Devices? If so, is it selected under “inputs”? Insert the effect that you wish the Crumar UP4 to control into a audio or Simple Instrument track’s effect rack. Make sure that effect’s “MIDI in” in enabled. Then create a MIDI track with the Crumar UP4 set as its input. Set the effect as above as its output. You might need to set the MIDI channel of the track to a specific channel rather than “none”. Enable “input echo” for that track. Now open the GUI for the effect you inserted. Head for the parameter you wish to control. It might have a MIDI learn function. Now while I do not have the Crumar UP4, the principle is the same as with any expression pedal that generates MIDI data. I tested the above with a Yamaha FC7 Expression pedal connected to a PCR-800. This Expression pedal transmits CC1 events I used the “WAH 47” effect inside Amplitude 5 and mapped the expression pedal to the WAH parameter using Amplitude 5 MIDI learn function. This allowed me to use the expression pedal to control the WAH parameter in real time while playing the keyboard. -
I do not own any T-Rack 5 components. 2.69 gig just to install IK Comprexxor VST3 (when I already have a number of compressors), yeah, nah.. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks like this installer contains all T-Rack 5 modules. I was, at least, hoping to be able to select just IK Comprexxor.

Depends on the source material. I would not expect good results from any fully mixed audio. You might get some acceptable results a single monophonic source using external VSTs or tools. YMWV For fully mixed audio, you would get better results doing it note by note.

Is CbB intermittently saying that it cannot find your audio interface? One thing to try is Start + Run > control "powercfg.cpl,,1" (without quotes) USB Selective suspend settings to Disabled Another option is to go into device manager and for any USB root hub, deselect the power management option to “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”

Are you using version 2022.6 Build 34 of Cakewalk by Bandlab? Those dump files are analysed by Cakewalk support One thing to try is to see if bridging with JBridge solves the problem (if you have Jbridge installed)
-
Which version of Cakewalk by Bandlab? (numerically, don’t just say “the latest”) Importing Audio or MIDI?
-
Are you using Cakewalk by Bandlab 2022.6 Build 34 and what is your screen resolution?
-
CbB 2022.6 Build 34 works fine here. Can you provide more info? What have you tried so far? (I am assuming you’ve already tried a roll back)
-
I tried twice on a PC with FF103B2 - no email (Yes, I checked spam folder)

This website is giving me reason to be cautious. Especially when I see this: https://bealertonline.com/audioplugin/

I clip on the first beat of the first bar How to solve it
Promidi replied to Beraca Music's question in Q&A
Even if I was actually using “programs like Studio One, FL studio, Ableton”, I still would not put any MIDI events right at the start. I would still leave a gap at the start for synths to initialise. You have your solution. -
On a properly configured 64bit Windows (10 preferred) PC, Cakewalk should install without any error messages. Contact Cakewalk Support. https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000025633

I clip on the first beat of the first bar How to solve it
Promidi replied to Beraca Music's question in Q&A
Never start on Measure 1. Most synths need time to initialise (especially if there is CC info or Sysex for external synths) - which they may not have time to do if the first note is on Measure 1 I always start actual notes on the 2nd (or even 3rd) measure. The space before is used to selected patches, set volumes, pan, filters, etc -
You can also select the part, export as type 0. Then respects your selection. This also exports any tempo changes into the MIDI file. Of course, one other option is to simply route your Nylon Strings MIDI track to the keyboard (If you have the appropriate MIDI interface and cabling/adapter)

I just purchased the Sound Canvas VA soft synth...

Have you considered using Cakewalk by Bandlab? -
Me too. I only use IKPM for actual activations. I just don’t trust it enough to do downloads. The manual way has always worked for me - every time.
