  1. Hi Jonesey. They were just the cheap wired ones that came with my computer. I'm not really suprised they failed, just suprised they failed pretty much in unison. It may just be a coincidence, then again, it may be part of a larger left wing, Chinese communist conspiracy. Someone should really look into it ?
  2. Thanks Dave but I'm a cheap skate. I bet that high quality mouse feels great though. I'm sure there's no going back to a cheap one once u get spoiled to it. This is why I only date ugly women. I'm afraid I'd get spoiled to a pretty woman. Besides, pretty women don't like cheap skates like me. ?
  3. Cheers Steve. Well this is my first time really working seriously on a PC. I used to record with digital workstations. But although two years ago feels like yesterday, I have put in A LOT of hours on it. And I'm sure the keyboard & mouse were of pretty cheap quality. It was just the strange timing that had me scratching my head. Oh well, I guess all those bumper stickers were right... "Sh*t Happens" ?
  4. Hi guys. I just had to share this crazy story. I've had my computer & mouse for about 2 yrs now. Last week, some keyboard commands started glitching, soon followed by glitching mouse commands. I spent days going thru Cakewalk & computer settings trying to find the problem but to no avail. 2 days ago, I went buy a new mouse & keyboad just to try out and everything now works perfectly. I never really knew that keyboards and mouses periodically go bad. But esp not within HOURS of each other. And the problem is def not interactive. Out of pure disbelief, I swapped just the mouses a couple of times, then just the keyboards back & forth and it's official... They're both broken. Anyway, I just had to share this. Talk about odd timing. Cheers!
  5. Thanks. I'm just using the Sonitus gate in Cakewalk. Tomorrow I'll try to adjust the release time and see if it helps stop the chattering.
  6. Hi guys. I'm using a MXL v67 mic into an Audiobox USB96 interface. I know neither is great for self noise but the hiss is too excessive. So Ive been using a noise gate set low which kills the hum. However, when my singing trails off, the gate creates an annoying chattering effect. I've tried other mics and I get the same hiss. I haven't tried another interface yet though. Anyway, is this normal? Do u guys always have to use noise gates on ur mics or am I maybe just in need of a better interface? Btw, it is running thru a properly grounded outlet so I don't think that's my issue. Thanks!
  7. Thanks for the feedback guys but it seems more involved than I thought. I'll just stick to the audio outs for now and prob buy a Korg vst library in the future. Seems like that'd be the better way to go. Cheers!
  8. I assume by "other audio card" u mean my interface? If that's the case, that would suck. I'm also in the middle of a project so I'm kinda scared to muck around with swapping drivers. I was hoping it was a simple, straight forward process.
  9. Hi guys. I have a Korg PA500 synth that I've been using just as a midi controller. However, I just learned from the owner's manual that the Korg's USB out is designed to plug straight to computer to record digitally. I've downloaded the latest Korg driver for my synth. Now I just need to know how to record it. I'm guessing I should insert it as a midi track? Can someone please walk me thru the steps on how to go about this? Thanks!
  10. Thanks guys. I think I got it. I have the TTS-1 Piano on track one. Track one's midi out was set to Master but the midi in was set to SI Strings in(don't rem doing that). Anyway, I changed it to "all inputs ch 1" and it seems to be working now. The sound isn't cutting out anymore. From now on, I'll make sure to double check my routing. Anyway, Thanks for all the help!
  11. Hi. There's only one midi device listed under inputs & outputs, my Audiobox interface. Pretty sure my Korg driver used to be there too. So I just uninstalled the Korg driver then downloaded the latest version. But when I try to install the Korg driver, it says "ERROR: No device plugged in". The synth is def plugged in thru my interface midi port. So how do I install the new driver and get it to appear in the preferences> midi devices list? Thanks ?
  12. I used to turn on my keyboard before opening the project file and it worked fine. But again, that's now causing a problem. Btw, I'm using a korg synth as my midi controller thru a multi pin midi port. Fwiw, I started the project with the TTS-1 but I suspect it may be causing the problem. I'm hoping someone can tell me why powering up the keyboard first is knocking out my audio completely.
  13. Hi guys. My project has two active soft synths, TTS-1 piano & SS5 Drums. When I power on my keyboard before opening the project, it causes a glitch... I get a clicking sound then there's no audio at all. The whole project goes silent. The only way to restore audio is to reboot my computer. Now, if I open the project first, everything is fine until I power on my keyboard. Then, it instantly changes the TTS-1 from 'piano 1' to 'clean guitar'. But I do still retain audio. I tried setting it to the SS5 Drum track first then powering on the keyboard but that makes the drums go silent. Everything else still plays. So is this a TTS-1 issue or do I have something set wrong? And is it proper to always open the project before powering up the midi device or should this not matter? Thanks!
  14. Thanks guys. I just fixed it. Unfortunately, I don't know HOW I fixed it. I changed a few settings at once then I couldn't figure out what I had changed to make it work. I think it was maybe in site settings or accessibility. Oh well, hopefully it won't happen again. Sorry I couldnt share the solution. Cheers!
  15. Hi guys. I have two identical Samsung A32 phones. In one of the phones this forum is now in super small print/full page view like it would be in desktop view but it's not. In the other phone, the forum is in normal, large print. Other websites work fine on both phones so I don't think it's a phone setting. Any clues guys on how to fix this? Thanks!
  16. I just figured it out. Yeah, I was using the wrong key command. Appreciate the help bud.
  17. Cheers guys. I must've actually changed a setting. Now, when I try to move a midi note up or down, it doesn't move the original note, it just makes a copy so I end up with two notes. How do I disable this and get it back to normal. Thanks!
  18. Hi guys. I started my project with the TTS-1 routed to four separate tracks in case I wanted to fade piano parts in & out with each other. A couple weeks ago I deleted the other three tracks thinking I wouldn't need them. BUT OF COURSE, now I need a second track of the TTS1 piano. Can I insert a new track using the same instance of TTS1 that's already being used on track one? If so, please walk me thru it. Thanks!
  19. Thanks. There's been some good tips above but this was the type of answer I was fishing for. And yes, it's def tedious but I been making some good progress just cutting & nudging things around. It's for a good friend so I'm fine putting in the work. I basically did what I mentioned above... Started with drums & bass, then I've been soloing every other instrument with the drums & bass. I want it to still feel live so it doesn't have to be perfect. Anyway, glad to know I'm not the only one cutting and nudging things around like that. (Who said u can't polish a turd ? ?)
  20. Cheers guys. This is less of a technical question and more about advice from your own editing approach. If u record a full band live with no click and the band is fairly sloppy, what is ur approach to tightening/synching the tracks together? Would u normally start by breaking it down to just bass & drums and get them in synch first? Then maybe solo each instrument along with the drums to get them in synch with the drums? Btw, I like that the overall timing speeds and slows in diff sections. I'm just trying to use my ears & my eyes to move small clips of waveforms around until it sounds like a great live performance... Not too perfect, not too sloppy. So how do u guys go about this? Something tells me u veterans here have developed ur own basic approach that makes pretty quick work of this. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks!
  21. Thanks. How do I set this up? I don't see this option in keyboard shortcuts.
  22. Hi guys. I have keyboard shortcuts to jump forward & back between markers but is it possible to jump from measure to measure or jump to diff sections of the song?
  23. Wow, thanks for all that Krupa. I was wondering how all this stuff worked, incl if it was okay to wake an old post. I'll def do that ?
