It's official: CbB will not continue for long.
T Boog replied to John Vere's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Forgive me Will, I just wanna make sure I follow u completely. The version I have is 28.11.0.21.exe. Are u saying I'm good with this version for the next 6 months? -

Hey John, I actually had a problem with the recent update and I had to reinstall the previous version. Do u think this previous version will remain active for a while or will I have to update? Thanks -
Does anyone know what piano sample the TTS-1 piano 1 uses?
T Boog replied to T Boog's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks mettelus. Well I'm not home to access my computer at moment so I can't answer the error msg question but u may have something with the registry cleaner thing. Thinking back, it may have been something like that. Can a Malwarebytes cleaner clear the registry like that? -

Thanks a lot, that's great to know. Btw, for what it's worth guys, I do know there are more realistic piano vst's out there. For instance, I loved the sound of the Monastery Grand by Melda but it was actually TOO realistic for my current project. U know, where some keys are slightly deader than others. I find that works great for heartfelt chords but for certain melodies, u need a more consistent response. -

Cheers John. Well, fortunately I did start the project with the TTS-1 piano but I still experience occasional crashes. I also have problems with most third party vst's. They usually click & pop to the point of being unusable. I don't know if the TTS-1 is contributing to this problem, I'm only guessing that it is. Maybe u could tell me, could the TTS-1 be having trouble playing nice with third party vst's? Btw, I've also gotten this message(screenshot below) a few times. -

Thanks and yeah, I'll def be doing that soon. I've been procrastinating on bouncing it down because, of course, it's nice to have full midi control. However, it's time for me to make some committed decisions. For my next project however, I do wanna try out the Sound Canvas. -

Timing sounds weird listening from a diff room
T Boog replied to T Boog's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks Dave. Although I'm not quite ready for that just yet, I def want u guys to hear it before I post it anywhere else. Not only am I looking forward to some experienced feedback but without all of ur help here on the Cakewalk forum, I'd have beat my computer with a baseeball bat a long time ago, Office Space style. Seriously, I'm SUPER thankful to u guys. Btw, I wrote this song for my daughter about her best friend who died in a car wreck a year ago. So it's more than a song, it's a very special gift that I know will bring some comfort and healing to my daughter & that family. So yeah, I can't say it enough.. . Thanks so much for the help guys!!! ? -

Forgive my ignorance guys, Is there a specific branch of Roland I should email to inquire about this? -
Hi guys. I love the TTS-1 piano 1 sound but I've come to learn just how problematic the TTS-1 program is. I've downloaded a bunch of free piano vst's to try to replace it but they either sound too grand or too cheap. I know this is a long shot but is it possible to download just that piano sample from somewhere? If I had that piano sample, I could stop using the TTS-1 completely. Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Timing sounds weird listening from a diff room
T Boog replied to T Boog's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks for the feedback guys. Before I go on, let me just say that I've been playing music seriously for over 40 yrs. I consider myself to have good timing and have recorded many songs in the past. However, since I've started recording again, I think I may be experiencing some degree of what I've learned is called "temporal illusion"(esp when I listen too long without a break). This is my first recording via DAW and the ability to nudge a note ever so slightly has created a sense of timing option anxiety and has me questioning my own sense of where the groove is. Esp since this song has a few tempo changes. (Fwiw, I did use a click where possible) I heard Tom Scholz of Boston talk about working on some songs so long that he lost all perspective. He said he didn't even know what he was listening to anymore. He said only after a couple months break from hearing the track would he gain some true objectivity again. I think it may be time for me to let a couple friends hear this song and get their feedback. I will say, this has been a humbling experience. It's amazing how one slight nudge(tick) of a snare hit will change the way the groove is perceived from that point on. It starts feeling like my perception of where the groove is riding is unreliable and changes on me. So yeah guys, PLEASE tell me if u ever experience this phenomenon. I'd love to know that I'm not a freak. And if u have experienced this, what tips would u give to help me climb out of this OCD rabbit hole? I can't seem to stop fighting with the groove. Thanks a lot! -
Hi guys. When I'm seated in front of my monitors, my song's timing & groove sounds great but I notice when I listen from a diff room, the groove sounds off & kinda rushed. Does anyone else experience this? Would it have something to do with diff frequencies reaching the ear at diff times(after bouncing thru the house)? I know it's an unusual question. I couldn't really find anything online about this. My mind wants to believe that I'm getting a better, more objective perspective when listening from a diff room but, with what little I know about freqs, I'm thinking I shouldn't trust my ears when listening that way. I think back to listening to bands play from outside the club. I seem to rem the groove sometimes sounding weird. So, is it just me guys or is this part of the wonderful world of random phase shifting? Please shed some light &/or personal experiences. This one's had me scratching my head for a long time. I'd love to put it to rest. Cheers!

T Boog replied to Morten Saether's topic in Early Access Program
Well, I uninstalled then reinstalled Cakewalk and I see the update is still there. Now its taking about 5 mins to save. I'm super stressed about this. Will I have to scrap months of work? I can't wait 5 mins every time I press save! What do I do guys? -
[CLOSED] Cakewalk 2023.09 Early Access [Updated to Build 62]
T Boog replied to Morten Saether's topic in Early Access Program
Can someone please explain exactly how to uninstall the program? Does this mean unintalling Cakewalk? I'm having a HUGE problem since this update. Saving a project normally takes less than 10 seconds, now it's taking about 2 mins! It saves bundle copies fine however. I've been working on my current project for months so Im freaking out. I didn't learn about setting up a restore point til now. So I think my only option is to uninstall & reinstall the progam. Unless someone knows how to fix this project saving issue. Please help! -
Piano roll view is too big, can't see inspector or time ruler

Cool John. Btw, I was watching one of ur videos yest that showed how to view audio track controls in Piano Roll View. It's already improved my work flow. Thanks a lot man! -

T Boog replied to T Boog's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Pressing "I" worked in Track View but not in PRV. However, I just found my problem. In the little box near the upper right of screen, I somehow switched it from "Advanced" to "None". Now I know to leave it in Advanced. But thanks for the advice my friend. Cheers! -
How to automate volume but still use the track volume slider?
T Boog replied to T Boog's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks John. I didn't know about mix recall. Glad to know it exist. Btw, I like what u said about creating my own workflow that suits my needs. That's why I'm trying to embrace offset mode. Automating as I go is important to me. If I can't do that, It's quite possible that I'll develop a drinking problem, buy a cat & become a recluse(? ?). I can't take that risk! Seriously, I'm hoping that the extra control offset mode provides will be worth it in the end. Anyway, Sincere Thanks to all of u here on the forum. Without ur help, I would've taken a baseball bat to my computer a long time ago... Office Space style ? -
How do I get louder volume without clipping?
T Boog replied to T Boog's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks Johnny V and all u guys for ur advice. And yeah, it looks like Kalle wins the cigar. I got bit by the offset mode. I'd say that's a "routing error". Offset mode is a great tool but once in use, u have to always remain aware of it. Im still trying to get my head around how all the controls interact between the two boards but it seems that both boards are always in series. Toggling between envelope & offset only hides the other mixing board. It'd be great if they designed the offset mode board to have a slightly diff look, color, or border when in use so u know ur not in Kansas anymore. That's what got me, everything looks exactly the same accept for the little light by the transport. I had no clue I was looking at a whole diff mixing board from the one I started my project with. Anyway, Thanks again for all the help guys. Cheers ? -
How to automate volume but still use the track volume slider?
T Boog replied to T Boog's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I esp notice it on my elec guitar using a high gain TH3 amp sim. The track is not yet rendered so it's a live vst. When I lower the track's gain knob the guitar sounds cleaner & weaker. When I turn it up, it acts like a front end boost giving me more amp distortion & sustain. But this makes sense right? Isn't EVERY effect in the chain affected by the strength of the signal reaching it? -
How to automate volume but still use the track volume slider?
T Boog replied to T Boog's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks a lot John. Btw, do u rem this post from a few months ago? I finally found my problem.... Offset Mode! I must've accidentally toggled it on the project many months ago and had that master turned low. Like JnJuneTech, I didn't even know what offset mode was. Now that I've turned it back on and turned up that master, all my volume is back. It's loud as heck. Praise God! ? Man I had no idea there was an invisible master gain stage between the normal master & output. Oh well, at least now I know one of the "boo-boos" to watch out for. Ouch!!! ? -
How to automate volume but still use the track volume slider?
T Boog replied to T Boog's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks bud. Im gonna try sticking to offset mode and see how it works for me. I have to know. But since my current project is set up in envelope mode, should I zero out my pan knobs in envelope mode before switching to offset? (I'm confused on how panning is affected between the two modes) And is there anything else I should set up in envelope mode first to avoid discrepancies or redundancy issues between the two modes? Thanks -
How to automate volume but still use the track volume slider?
T Boog replied to T Boog's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks Xoo. I'm very tempted to do that but from what I've read online they say it's easy to make accidental changes when in offset mode. If I do leave it in offset mode, what things should I watch out for to prevent accidental changes? IOWs, what are some common boo-boos that happen in offset mode? (I'm sure u guys have been bit by it a time or two) -
How to automate volume but still use the track volume slider?
T Boog replied to T Boog's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks Herky. That may be the route I'll have to go. It just seems crazy that if u want to automate volume on 20 tracks that u need to create 20 buses to quickly adjust volume during mixing. I'm no wiz but this seems like a design oversight. I can't be the first person to encounter this conundrum. I'm seriously considering buying Bandlab and firing the whole staff out of spite. ?
