  1. Hello TracingArcs....very, very well done....completely transportive in a cinematic way, when i closed my eyes i was back in ancient Greece on an island overlooking the sea....if you have time, a question, please, did you play the percussion live using pads???? sorry if it's a dumb question but i'm still new to this DAW stuff ????

    Reverb

    Hello Barry....great Strat-work there, sir....lyrically reminds me of Harrison's Wah-Wah ? ???
  3. good stuff....only thing i would change is slowly turning down the intro sounds at around 0:40 to hear more of the emerging instruments ?⭐??
  4. Nice work Kevin, i enjoy this piece, especially the percussion loop...only observation i have is that at the beginning around 0:30 or thereabouts one or more tracks of the audio sounds like birds which threw my surreal deep space engagement off as i couldn't process birds in deep space, purely a subjective observation ????
  5. As been said before this is a great song....the arrangement is fine....the drum EQ and tones are fine but do need a bit more work, I think using the Piano Roll set to either 1/32 or 1/64 and going over with a fine tooth comb should do it....needs a bit more polish but if I was a producer I would move forward with this song, polish it up and move it to market as I think it has what it takes....your voice, Paul, is really great too, good luck ????
  6. Hi All....finally was able to finish this one....all observations welcome....please see the original post for link to the now completed version ????
  7. Hi Michael....great song, vocal, playing, arrangement....totally enjoyed the harmonica....reminded me of a song Elvis might have done with some great Nashville musicians ????
  8. Thanks t....it was basically done by recording all of the parts on their own tracks and then doing the jig saw puzzle thing....seeing what sounded best for each unfolding section....i did have a general idea of what went where but found that some times less is more ????
  9. Thanks ???? Thanks Makke ???? Thanks steve....knob turning is my middle name lol!! ????
  10. Hi Tim....the harp section is superb....beautiful, precise, confident....the flute section tends to meander, wander, unsure of where it's going although it does have its well and good moments as well....great recording, EQ, tones ????
  11. Thanks Wookiee....yes, the songs i have done so far were able to be handled ok by 8 Gigs of RAM, but the new piece i'm putting together has pushed my PC RAM to the max so i will do some kind of upgrade soon ????
  12. Thanks very much treesha....yes, the volumes of the guitar delays was heavily automated because if there is a another instrument in the same range the echo is greatly diminished ????

    Franny

Very, very nice David....mom's are cool ? ? .... string quartet's are a great way to say something musically ????
  14. Hello Starise....great soundscape....mix, playing, everything but the ending which was already noted above, sounds beautiful....enjoyed very much ????

    November Jam

short, sweet and to the point....really nice piece Makke, as usual ????
  16. enjoyed the piece....nice variations, percussion, guitar solo, mix, playing, production, tones, Eq's....the only thing that my ears picked up on was the quantizing, or the groove being too perfect, of course, if you didn't quantize then my observation is incorrect....other than that, very, very, well done ????
  17. beautiful combination and balance of science, soundtrack and music....better music than what I hear on the Science Channel's "How the Universe Works" (which is one of the few television series I enjoy watching when not doing music)....nice sequencer sounds....relaxing synth's....enjoy watching your work very much ??⏳?️

    Aren't You Cold

enjoyed that very much....you are great at establishing a groove and then moving forward with it by adding various elements....your sense of humor and vocal deliveries are superb....Thanks for putting a smile on my face yet again ????
  19. Thanks David....forgot to include your quote in my response....please see above post....Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed ????
  20. Thanks David ? used standard tuning on all guitars....two audio interface electric guitars play the 16 note riff that first appears at 0:24 and weaves in and out of the song is a real hand stretcher....it's the 6th, 5th and 4th strings playing F, C, D / F, C, D / F, C G, D, A / G, D, A / G, D as I played them all live to make it easier I put a capo on the first fret so as to give my left hand some help....the other guitar voicings are 3 or 4 note chords played without a capo ( I have no idea of their names, they just sound good) that use notes in C Ionian found up and down the fretboard ???? edit: inspiration is from the Trois Gymnopédies by Satie, orchestrated by Debussy....the first time I heard that was the version by the New London Orchestra conducted by Ronald Corp and I was absolutely floored by its beauty and simplicity ?? ??
  21. Thanks Bjorn....Eno is a big influence....his solo work and collaborations with Bowie, U2, Talking Heads....what a great catalog....and glad you enjoyed it ? I hope to do a longer version with flute, harp, bells, choirs, woodwinds, percussion and more....going to install the Kontakt Player and try the 50 free sounds to expand the instruments and sounds....been reading the Instruments and Effects forum for guidance ????
  22. hello jack ?my emerging DAW skills and limited time to work on music have quietly led me to a life of making ambient pop for awhile.... probably until I have an albums worth (60 minutes or so) and then call the album "ambient pop music"....I'm still experimenting and learning my way with DAW drums but the time it takes to get them to sound the way they should I just don't have right now....Thanks for listening and the cool compliment ????
  23. Hi Leizer....very nice late '60's style pop song you created there, your dog must be very happy ? .... nice mix, production, playing....pretty cool ????

    The Love We Have

Hi Rex....imho not a lot of singers could sing this song...do it justice, so to speak.... but you have...as i said about Chivalry is Still Alive i would change the lead guitar from distorted/fuzzed to clean and smooth....i think some melodic fiddle playing would be a nice addition....and if you can find a good female singer for some harmony parts as well as some girls singing back up vox it would add to the song well....as Lynn Wilson as already said you are on a roll...Good Luck!!!! ????
  25. Hello Rex....great song, vocals, music, recording, mixing, atmosphere....only critique i have is that the lead guitar be played without distortion as the rest of the song is so clean and honest, strictly my personal taste ??️??
