Thanks jack....i'm a drummer too....i tried all you suggested, plus, i literally recorded the kick, snare, hi hats/intro (using CbB SI Drums VST) on separate tracks and went over each kick, each snare hit, each hi hat hit, etcetera one at a time and used either another instruments cue (piano, guitars, bass) on the wave sample or my ears to set the correct places in the piano roll....i dunno, maybe i'm being overally critical but the snare just doesn't seem to settle in, i think the intro, kick, hi hats and cymbals are all ok, just the snare....quantize won't work with that song as it's not a straight 2/4, or, perhaps, i just have a certain idea of how i think the drums should be played and getting that into the DAW is something i must continue to train my brain to do as playing them live is a completely different way of playing music....cheers!!!! ????

Hi David....enjoying Scarlatti very much, great work there....Thanks for listening and comments ? the song has lyrics and i'm going to try to put a vocal on it soon....as i've been playing that song since the early '80's my perspective on it is limited and i do agree it does need a contrasting b section to expand it....that's a great point i became oblivious to over the years....although i think that a vocal might open the song up and give the listener the ability to distinguish the separate parts much easier....cheers ????

Thanks jack....the bass is there but the drums and their timing....i spent over 14 hours on the drums to get right and i'm still not satisfied as i feel they are single handedly dragging the song down....moving this to a Work in Progress as i see what my next move will be with it ????
-
very, very nice....imho not a fan of the percussion coming in around 0:43 doesn't serve the song (as if i should talk....my history with DAW drums is not impressive at all)....but, overall, a real good chill song that needs to be longer and have a few more instruments added to increase the power of an already powerful vocal performance ??️??
-
nice tune....although i wouldn't want to be any where near a real pulsar (or a magnetar)....marimba type vibe, steel drums??....bass ....how did you ever get the drums to play so perfectly in time???? is it the CbB SI Drums VST???

nice....backwards sounds, when done right, can be really cool (beginning of Are You Experiened?) ????
-
wow....i love every one of those 10 songs....you and the rest of the Bandlab folks did an absolutely great job on all of them ????
-
Thank You....i tried to keep the music's melodic impact without it becoming bombastic or heavy handed....the variations in structure is just me trying to produce something new yet appealing ????
-
this tune is a lot more complicated than the Celtic tunes, that being said, the tune at this time isn't bad at all considering how much you've got going on....vocals, pianos, percusssion, brass, bass, some tricky rhythm/timing things happening through out the song....maybe polish the intro and outro....it all depends on what you concieve this song as: traditional jazz hall swing piece that carries the listener along quite well as it now, or, as Tom mentioned, make it into a more standard song with a melodic hook or two in there...overall, great work and music going on there ????
-
very nice tune there Tim, enjoy it very much....Celtic songs are one of my favorite genre's....maybe take a bit of treble off the guitars....take some low end off the bass....flute is fine ????
-
Happy New Year jack ??....this song, like all your other songs, has that special charm that only you can create....i think Tom's input on mastering has given this song a bit wider sound and does sound more commercial or radio ready if you like (not a criticism....i try to get my stuff like that too)....i think you might shorten a little, add a bit of piano....overall, well done, as usual, sir ????
-
Sweet....sounds great, i hear no timing errors, nor any other kind for that matter....drums are great ?? (live or VST????), guitars, sax, brass, keyboard (maybe bring up in the mix)....reminds me of Weather Report with a guitarist....Return to Forever....i'd say the collaboration is working quite great ????
-
beautiful composition Tim....i hear no issues with production/mix....this type of classical writing i find fascinating as i haven't tried to write anything with such a structure, it seems so fluid and long whereas my mind is accustomed to shorter, concise segments when writing music ????
-
Mark, Bruce and Gary....outstanding collaboration....only additions i would consider are 1. pedal steel guitar accents 2. sax here and there 3. small horn section during the chorus ????
-
Thanks Paul, appreciate your listening...glad you enjoyed it ???? Thanks Starship Krupa....the Arturia minilab running the free Analog Lab V suite of sounds and the audio interface guitar came out pretty good I guess....as soon as I finish my current song I will redo that bass part on the Piano Roll as it is part of the Analog Lab V bass effects and update this post with the results????

Thanks Wookiee. Best Wishes in the new year and always....may the force be with you ????

Very interesting Soundscape....pronounced loops at the intro becoming less so....evolving into what sounds like a slowed down dulcimer....echoed voices....a slow circular vibe to the loops as there is no rhythm, per se....????
-
it starts at 0:13 very subtle, not really noticeable at all unless a person is doing what we do on a DAW
-
Hello Kurt....very nice composition, playing, arrangement, mix....love the sound of fretless bass....very, very nice voicings of the SI Strings there....enjoyed it very much especially as i see that you are using 8gb of ram as i do....when we get our 32 or 64gb's watch out world, lol!!....the only thing i noticed was a slight background buzz which i get as well on certain audio interface recorded instruments....i'm guessing it was the fretless bass?? ????
-
Thanks Bjorn....listened to Eno since his Roxy Music days, one of the greats....regarding the guitar part....while trying to write guitar parts for my stuff i inadvertently figurered out The Edge's trademark guitar sound,. in three words arpeggio's, harmonics and delay....yes, i always picked the mobius strip as a type of eternity....cheers!!!! Thanks Wookiee ???? Thanks Tim ???? Thanks Tom....i agree the bass needs a bit more polish but if i were to wait until i was 100% satisfied to post each piece i have done so far there would only be one or two songs here....wish i had more time to get them sounding as i would like, but i figure the quality is a slight tradeoff compared to the experience i get from each piece i've done so far....i agree with all of your observations, cheers!!!! ????
-
beautiful music....writing, playing, arrangement, production, mix, mastering....the video is very cool ????
-
Hello Jerry....once again a brilliant, beautiful composition, thank you for sharing....i find no surprise that you named this piece The Galaxies as i myself frequently look for inspiration from the cosmos....a never ending source of the unimaginable made real ????
-
really nice work on that Tim....nice chords (whatever you played you played very, very well ?) i agree with Tom's suggestions, i think they would serve the song well....i did not hear any timing errors, all sounded right on the money....really enjoy that piece....may i ask was the sax live or VST (if VST which one....i've been looking for a good one and yours sounds really good)....best wishes for the New Year and always ????
-
Thank You very much Tom....glad you liked it....Best Wishes, Good Health and Happiness to you in the coming new year and always....
