  1. great intro (midi cymbal??)....guitar, bass, drums and keys all enter smokingly good....nice midi hi hat, makes for a high energy/upbeat feel....tasty guitar takes over....nice groove....overall extremely good, well worth putting more time in to make a full fledged song ????
  2. Thanks Steve....that is a cool story....I was trying to figure out what to call this song....I knew it was gonna be ______ Blues....think I was watching TV and heard obsidian and the light in my head went on ....the timing is courtesy of the metronome as it gave me the freedom to concentrate completely on what I was playing....cheers!!!! ????
  3. i've used the CbB SI Bass for a few of the songs as it sounded better or was easier to play at the time....i like the SI Bass a lot ????
  4. Thanks Wookiee, that is what I try to create with ambient pop ????
  5. nope, direct injection from Yamaha bass to audio interface to CbB DAW audio track.... didn't use any amp sim at all....only bass guitar processing i did was careful manipulation of CbB Pro Channel EQ module ????
  6. regarding "The Soft Cool Kiss of God", that's outstanding, beautiful, you must of had a time with the EQing as the organ and cello seem like their places in the audio spectrum are quite close/similar ????
  7. Thanks David....this is the most recent song i've written, finished it a few weeks ago....the vibrato is just me on the guitar fretboard, was recorded using around 18 different tracks for each guitar section to get maximum ability to craft the tones and stuff, played through a Focusrite Scarlett Solo with no effects other than careful EQing.... after playing for around 54 years i think i've finally got the vibrato down!!!! lol!!!! ????
  8. Thanks jack....the bass was played live using three different tracks, one for each section....i ran it through my Focusrite Scarlett Solo audio interface with no effects other than very carefully set DAW EQing for each section....the bass is a 2004 or so Yamaha RBX170, for a cheap bass it's surprising robust....the bass knobs settings i used give a Rickenbacker-type sound here's a pic of it:

    Major Z

tight, smooth, tasty, precise, well arranged, superbly played, great production and mix ????
  11. very pleasant soundscape ??☀️?
  12. Short, concise, to the point (audio noir????).... does communicate those emotions perfectly....agree with above observations....nice work ????
  13. Greetings All. I searched but did not find an answer so here we go.... In CbB i'm using SI Drums via my Arturia Minilab MKII midi controller. When i set it up I choose Mark II Omni instead of assigning Channel 1 or 2 to a single, specific drum sound, because, I haven't figurered that out or even know if it's possible. Consequently, when i try to do one track with snare only, another with kick drum only, another with hi hat only, i can't as they're all on the same channel. Is there a tutorial that someone knows of on how to assign an SI snare to Channel 1, an SI kick drum to Channel 2, etcetera?? TIA

    Breaking Away

Hi AndyB01....very nice song....brings to mind another Andy....Partridge of XTC....please take that as a compliment as XTC was a great, great musical entity....cheers!!!! ????
  15. Thanks David....that is a great way to look at the arrangement....really wanted to keep it simple and as uncluttered as i could ???? Thank You Wookiee....glad to hear that ???? Thanks Tom....the songs are fun to do....it's basically getting the most mileage out of the least amount of sounds ????
  16. sorry i don't review your stuff but it's so far removed from my current wheelhouse that i don't really have much to add to what is already being said, but, i must now say your music is always extremely well crafted, thought out, written, played produced and mixed....to my ears the nearest comparison would be Steven Wilson's work with Porcupine Tree (i saw them live in the US on the Dead Wing tour) and have been following Steve's work since "The Sky Moves Sideways" days....anyway, just had to give you a thumb's way up for "Neon Blues" as well as all the other great material on "Elemental" ????
  17. the song: really, really good song....arrangement, playing, instrument choices, vox, tempo changes, breakdowns. the mix: i'm at work so i must hold off as i don't have a decent enough sound system to offer a good opinion i like the song very much ????
  18. Thanks!!!! ???? Thanks!!!! ???? Thanks!!!! ???️?
  19. Here's a couple of songs I like from Thievery Corp, I think they are on tour at this time ???? https://youtu.be/qyYMhFPGYDY https://youtu.be/1t7W6NtTKAw https://youtu.be/OKSE_2LcikM
  20. Hi David, very good vibes from that piece ????

    Hobo

Hi Makke, very cool, like a mid tempo rockabilly, clean and tasty guitar as always....your vocals are really good ????
  22. hello jack, i didn't have time to hear the original mix, i just listened to this one now....this is a pretty incredible piece of music....i'm at work now and need to listen to it more to understand it better and will post again later....congrats, another great composition!!!! ????
  23. very, very nice....the bottom end bass/drum sound is great....overall mix is great....deep European feel to it, like from a James Bond movie....reminds me of some of the best songs from Thievery Corporation ????
  24. Beautiful....your post mentioned minmalism as a facet but i don't hear much minimalism in your works (at least, not this piece), if anything, they are some of the most compositionally astounding pieces of music I've ever heard ????
  25. Music and visuals are both compositionally stellar....ready for market....Good Luck!!!! ????
