  1. the music: works completely as a great soundscape the video - totally subjective comments: the high points were huge and a few that i thought could be done differently....cheers!! ?️???
  2. Hi Nigel....i must say the songs you post aren't in my current wheelhouse (really, who the hell does ambient pop music but me???? ? ) so i usually don't comment, but without a doubt, all the songs you post here are highly melodic with great vocals, playing, production and are virtually ready for market....my subjective nitpicks on A Slender Thread are a few seconds here and there where maybe the drums can be tightened up a tad, overall, great work on the music as well as the video....cheers!! ????
  3. Thanks Bjorn....yes, the repetitive notes are a somewhat subjective audio taste as not everyone enjoys that type of playing throughout most of a song....i tried it at various audio levels and to my ears i went with what i thought was the best volume....cheers!! ????
  4. Thank You treesha....the plucked notes consist of two live guitars, one on the left and one on the right and they do have a few missteps that i wasn't able to hide, lol!! cheers!! ????
  5. Thanks David....the harmony/chord voicings in the song are the result of the alternating G to G# bass notes simultaneously sounding with descending midrange guitar notes....usually, i try to choose notes that fit but aren't the first notes one might think of playing such as Donald Fagen does so fabulously....thanks for the Pat Metheny comparison, his 2020 album "From This Place" is absolutely brilliant....cheers!! ????
  6. Hi Nigel....thanks....the bass in the song was played live and consists of only two different parts: an alternating G note to G# note back to G note and a D# note hammer to E note....the musicality of those parts of the song with G and G# notes is a result of the alternating G to G# bass notes simultaneously sounding with descending midrange guitar notes thereby creating real chord voicings....i did try to increase the bass but was unable to keep it tamed/overwhelming....so i tried adding a synth bass pad but it just didn't fit in....the only other bass i could add was the cello parts....the rest is pretty much midrange....cheers!!!! ????
  7. the first time I listened I didn't get it....the second time i did....great music to underscore the anguish in the message communicated in your lyrics....direct, short and to the point....mixes are sounding better, chords are perfect ????
  8. ****updated february 20, 2022**** greetings....this is the updated version with the biggest change being the excellent suggestion by PhonoBrainer to remove the hi hat, which really was functioning like a metronome, and gives the arpeggiated guitar notes the rubato space they need (yes, i had to look up the meaning of rubato and i am now a better person for doing that!! ?....thanks so much Tom!!!! ??), so, without further ado.... link: https://larryterrano.bandcamp.com/track/ionia-ambient-pop-music ******************************************************************************* Greetings!!....here is a re-recording/redux of the first song i posted here back in september of last year....Ionia (ambient pop music)....observations, critiques, questions and comments appreciated ????: ^^please use above link^^ DAW: Cakewalk by Bandlab pc: windows 10, i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz, 8GB ram, acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitar, focusrite scarlett solo, arturia minilab mkII, arturia analog lab 4 lite, CbB effects reference speakers: M-Audio BX3 Special Thanks to Mike at Creative Sauce on You Tube whose incredible videos on how to use CbB made this possible

Sounds great....enjoy listening to that piece....ready for market, good luck!!!! ????
  12. Very nice vocal piece....you may find Sarah Kirkland Snider's "Penelope" interesting as the musical focus is very much what you are doing in Unending Love....here's a link: https://www.allmusic.com/album/sarah-kirkland-snider-penelope-mw0002045465 ????
  13. Great job all around ???️?
  14. Great job on playing all the parts, vox and recording....the mixing will come in time....watch Mike's and John's videos and you will be surprised at how easy the mixing, mastering and Cakewalk DAW tricks become once you learn them ????

    outstanding ????
  16. excellent piece with the lead guitar being outstanding.....was that tapping around the 3:00 mark?? ???? there is a piece of music you might find interesting on You Tube by a group called Farmer's Market called "Slav to the Rhythm", about 7:14 long...it's pretty much jazz fusion but with heavy lyrical musicality incorporated....the guitars come in around the 4:00 mark cheers!!!!
  17. awesome music....totally engaging video....notes while enjoying: great electric piano intro....finally, maraca's!!, i love maraca's....nice clavinet, wasn't expecting that at all but fits perfectly....great horns, maybe down a dB or so....nice drum entrance....nice riffing on synth....great entrance by trumpet....and they all come together at the end....the serenity of distractions, indeed!!!! ????
  18. Hi....so, along with the instrumental version (ambient pop music) i made a version with vocals (yes, it's me vocal chords ?)....so, if you want to please post observations, comparison notes, critiques, anything you feel worth noting....all the links are on the Original Post here at the top of page 1 ????
  19. First mix?....are you kidding?....that song sounds great from beginning to end....tasteful strings, great vocal, nylon guitar sounds great, tremolo guitar sounds great....my nitpicks: a soft trumpet would be nice, maybe a harmonica just to see if it would fit....beautiful work Mark ????
  20. the vocal could come down 1 or 2 dB's maybe, purely a matter of taste....my ears enjoy your voice so i like the level in the master....generally when a record arrives to market the voice is way good enough to be mixed louder than or, at least, a few dB's above, the rest of what's there....very few major artists need to bury their voices but one exception i always recall is David Bowie's "Watch That Man", his vocal is mixed way lower than normally done ????
  21. i listened to the Master....your voice rocks, you got it....harmonies are good but the voice singing with you is too low to get a good read on some of the time (this is called nitpicking lol!!!!)....the music sounds great....this recording is ready for market as far as my ears and wallet can tell....Good Luck!!!! ????

totally interesting piece....i'd bring down the vocals volume at the beginning....which does seem to gradually decrease to where it sounds good to my ears around the 1:50 mark....vocal volume increase around 2:50 a bit too much....the music is excellent, basically a drone with rhythm and the synth melody wandering nicely over everything around 4:20....so, strictly my subjective taste....an excellent composition overall ????
  23. Aother good one....i like the sound of the mix on this ????
  24. this piece is a great template to use for growing to a bigger, more developed, yet still simple end result if that's what you are looking to do....the groove is nice but needs more music (sax, piano, vibes) and length....as to what genre to classify under, dunno....lo fi, acid jazz, trip hop ????
