  1. really nice job on vox and playing, enjoy it very much....the wood is all there, now it all depends on how you want to use the mix to build it into a creation of your taste ????
  2. ThankYou Steve ??that song is a favorite of mine too....it was the first song i ever heard that made me aware of how beautiful the guitars natural harmonics can be, if the song i'm writing allows it i try to incorporate them wherever they fit....the panning was something that seemed like a good idea to isolate and showcase the arpeggios....cheers!!!! ????
  3. Hi Philip....nope, but i will check Twisted Nerve out....anyway, i always like to reciprocate when someone gives me some new artists to hear so here's a few that are doing stuff somewhat like Ionia only quite better ????.... Another brilliant one jack.... Mix: imho....metal percussion at beginning mixed too high, bring down about 2 dB's maybe change drum snare to brushes during piano solo (what scale are playing in????) Bring trumpet down 1 dB Song: great song and melodies from trumpet, what scale are you playing in??? ????

great collaboration, as usual....this piece reminded me of something that could have been on Aja ????
  7. my brain just couldn't process/accept that part of Kashmir in 6/4, lol!!....i did like the dual bass/guitar riff you inserted in that section, though....it added a dimension that wasn't there before
  8. i'll chime in first, but, i've only been doing this for about six months so i'll keep it short and concise.... #1 thing in a mix is to trust your ears. #2 is balance/volume of all instruments/vox, this is where magic can suddenly appear when it wasn't before #3 for me is the Pro Channel EQ module. finding the right settings can take awhile or sometimes i just go with experience....the Gloss button can do amazing things for vocals as for what works in your mix, imho, the crunchy guitars, the slow piano/vox breakdown around the 5:00 mark, the overall arrangement is quite good as it adds good things that the original doesn't have. what i personally am not a fan of is the 6/4 experiment towards the end although if played with a different arrangement with all instruments on the same page it might work....and, y'know, in music the possibilities are sometimes almost endless cheers!!!! ????

    Til We're Gone

very well done....slow simmer/build up to the 2:00 mark when the party gets going....great song in the New Orleans style of Dr. John and Marcia Ball to name but a few....i can't comment on the mix at this time as i'm at work and listening on ear buds....but, did want to give a big thumb's up for what i'm hearing so far!! ????
  10. excellent work....especially the first piece....the clarity of thinking and understanding of how each note in both of these pieces contributes to the overall realized end result is amazing ????

    Half moon

well done Makke....i think you created a new genre called "jazz surf"!!!!....the jazz chords arrangement is great and the lead lines you play compliment them to create a unified piece of music that is very enjoyable to listen to ????

    selim

outstanding jack ??....i thought you were covering Miles Davis' "Selim" from 1971....i think this great song, along with "My Special Place" are my two favorite compositions of yours so far....no disrespect at all to Mr. Davis intended here but you have the better melody lines in your Selim piece....great work, sir!!!! ????
  13. hi Peter....very respectable cover of a piece of music that really has no equal ????

yes, this genre of music (smooth jazz) is what an FM station here in Los Angeles called The Wave 94.7 would play from 1987 to 2010....you guys do your collaborations extremely well....and while this isn't the best material you guys have created it's very chill sounding and works as that type of music....cheers!!!! ????
  15. hi Tom....i just posted the new mix and i did eliminate the hi hat/metronome and think your suggestion is a huge improvement....thanks again very much!!!! ????
  16. Hi mark....thank you very much....i just posted a new mix and i tried to get the L/R guitars clearer....the "Chords of Orion" guy is awesome......listening to his "My EBow Guitar is Gently Weeping) right now....cheers!!!! ????
  17. great song....great work you guys did....the mix isn't really bad at all, archetypal sixties style....bass level sounds good to my ears....sounds like you have a sitar guitar happening in there....iirc, I think the wrecking crew ( los angeles' premier session musicians in the sixties) did the playing with only Jim (later Roger) Mc Guinn playing his 12 string electric Rickenbacker on the song ? ???
  18. agree that your vocal is way good....the music behind you is good but too, what's the word....perfect????....Good Luck ?⛱️??
  19. Thanks!!!! this piece has been around since the eighties or so....i added a few motifs in the last few months to try to improve it....cheers!!!!
  20. Hi Tom, Thanks for your kind words on this tune....appreciate your listening to this song and suggestions....i'm going to see how it sounds without the hi hat percussion hits, i think that's a geat idea, and bring up the volume a dB or so....cheers!!!! ????
  21. i've always enjoyed melodies on top of other melodies (polyphony I think it's called) and your piece does a great job of that....at this point in the mix you already have quite a bit of motifs to work with....if i was to add another motif since the tone is ominous i would try adding a motif that doesn't use the major scale ????
  22. hi again....watch this Guitar Comp video when you redo the guitar, once you know how to record using the comp feature you will be amazed: https://youtu.be/f3M_XcHFl5Y
  23. your voice is fine and will get better the more singing you do....just last month i decided to watch some You Tube videos on how to sing and the results in my voice have been incredible....for sure, i'm no paul mccartney, mick jagger, roger daltry nor sting....but as one of the voice teachers, Ken Tamplin, says "The only difference between someone who sings and someone who doesn't is the singer has the guts to do it!!" lol!!!! and, funnily enough, i now tend to agree with him....here are three links to who i consider to be the best vocal coaches on You Tube: 1. 24. Thank You very much Kevin....i have been spoiled by listening to an abundance of ambient/minimalist/electronic music lately which does tend to repeat motifs at the expense of dynamics/musical variations/creativity....repetition in music is so unpredictable, sometimes it works and other times doesn't....generally, the things i have been writing i use to help keep myself relaxed and not so stressed....cheers!!!! ????
