My Arturia and my Alesis control common q control functions like tempo, zoom, bar length, resolution, tempo, timeline position, etc. It's not as tightly integrated for things like sound selection, but maybe a good trade off if you have a better quality keyboard controller. The free MPC software is limited as a stand alone product, but the limitations are deceptive. A full kit of multiple layered drums and even sample loops counts as one track. Each sound has individual mixing. One track is really multiple tracks in practice. For hip-hop, you can do a complete song within it minus vocals.
