I have the Voltage Modular Core + Electro Drums bundle. I started with the free Nucleus package, but was impressed with the workflow and intuitive interface. The Core Plus Electro bundle is only $50 at Cherry right now, with 105+ modules and 600 presets! Voltage wins for ease of use. Cherry also has a lot of additional modules and module bundles, at their traditionally low prices.

I had tried VCV Rack and Softube Modular in the past, but Voltage was much easier to get my head around.

Softube for $49 probably has a slight edge on overall sound quality, but it could get spendy if you want more modules. One advantage with Softube is that it comes with component-modeled versions of seven analog hardware modules from Doepfer, plus 50 stock modules, from utilities like mixers and multipliers to sequencers and performance panels. And premium modules from other renowned hardware brands are available to expand your collection.

VCV Rack was originally only available as a standalone, no plugin. VCV has a huge library of premium, free, and open source modules.

VCV just released VCV Rack 2.0, and I gave the new free standalone a spin. Still in RTFM territory for me, I'm afraid. But the new version has a Pro edition with a VST plugin version included for $50. VCV fans will probably be excited!

But $20 for Voltage Ignite? No brainer! :)

Good summary @abacab

I also started with the free nucleus followed by Ignite which I bought from Larry (nice price if I recall) 👍

I have added a lot since then, all purchased in sales plus a freebie (Year One Collection) which Cherry gave me as compensation after one of their standalone synths deleted all of my VST2 folder contents on installing it 😱 I had a backup but it still took some effort to get it all back to how it was before, as I had installed/updated many things since the backup.  I now keep my Cherry Audio stuff in a sub-folder of my main VST2 folder and backup the VST folder before installing anything ;)

Just trying to understand all the flavors of Voltage.

Nucleus, Modular Core, Ignite . . .

Am looking at the Synth Stack 2, which includes "Voltage Modular Core + Electro Drums package"

So, Ignite is just add-ons to Modular Core? So, definitely worth picking up if I decide to go for SS2?

EDIT--> If I am understanding correctly, Ignite ($20 @ADSR)  is included within the $25 Mixcraft 9 Pro deal also posted today. If so, it seems to be a no-brainer to essentially get Mixcraft Pro 9 for $5. Yes?

That would keep you busy for a very long time! :)

I have the Voltage Modular Core + Electro drums, a few of their standalone synths, and a few modular bundles including the Year 2 Collection, so it will take me a while to digest all of that. The good thing about Cherry is their loyalty to customers. If you buy something that is part of a bundle, they will discount that bundle for you in the future. For instance the Synth Stack 2 upgrade for me is $74.41. So there's really no rush to buy the bundles, as you can go ala carte for a while, then bundle up later!

Have you looked into the Year 2 Collection yet? I have it, and the included Vector bundle and FM bundle are pretty interesting! Plus you get the Polymode module and the Vintage Voice module.  https://store.cherryaudio.com/bundles/cherry-audio-year-two-collection

Yeah, back when I first started, the University had a Moog modular, I had a PolyMoog and a 106 and my friend had a MS20. So, the SS2 would bring back some nice memories. . .

Then you would probably enjoy this new VM900 collection. https://store.cherryaudio.com/bundles/vm900-collection

It includes 26 Moog modules to drop into Voltage Modular. It's also available in the Year 3 collection, along with the Oberheim SEM and ARP 2500 modules. https://store.cherryaudio.com/bundles/cherry-audio-year-three-collection
