  1. Cakewalk/Sonar only highlights keys in the Piano Roll view when they are being played or recorded thru input, but not when the project itself is playing them. This feature has been requested in the past. Staff view is just the opposite. edited for corrections
  2. Got that too yesterday. Must have downloaded it unknowingly? Or we got hacked? I just hit the red X.
  3. You don't need to install anything to get the - now public - Next Beta. But you do have to open a forum account and click the link on Cakewalk's home page to get an "invite" and answer some q's to "find" it on the "updates" channel.
  4. As of Jan '23 here's no security updates for them either. On a more [ ] positive [ ] negative unrelated note, Windows 11 comes with AI assistance.
  5. ... like Craig Anderton's Big Book of Sonar Tips or The Huge Book of CbB Tips?
  6. It takes awhile searching for a bunch of updates that don't exist but otherwise seems to work fine here. Did you uninstall the old one, reboot, then install the new one?
  7. All your projects should be "safe" as-is. If a saved project is opened in an older version you'll get a warning that it was saved in a more recent one, but it should still open.
  8. The beta download requires signing up with Discord, which took 3 "Invalid Invites" and a lot of confusion for it to work. Then you have to search around the forum to find the beta link. It's almost like they don't want you to find it. Returning to the forums to leave comments requires a fresh invite.
  9. Why & how would this even happen, tho? Not up on the latest versions of other DAWs, but last I checked, nobody does MIDI like TTS/Cakewalk/Sonar/Cakewalk. Especially for outboard gear.
  10. And everyone's worried about cyber attacks!
  11. I mentioned this originally but must have deleted it when editing my post. 🙄 You can check for the audio files by going to Project > Audio Files... or open the Audio folder. When this happened to me, the audio files were missing.
  12. Same Question. Though most installers are only run for the plugins, I like to have X3 & SPlat totally installed.
  13. So hopefully 28 won't need "activated" before 29 is installed over it? Since 28 won't be activatable any longer. BTW, just successfully "refreshed" my 2022.11 so should be good till March??
  14. Cakewalk_by_BandLab_Update_Setup_29.09.0.062.exe Since this is an "update", will it install on a new machine by itself, or will Cakewalk_by_BandLab_Setup_28.11.0.013.exe need to be installed 1st? With or without all prior updates?
  15. Check out my edited post. Unfreezing a track may cause the wave to disappear if there's no wav file in the Audio folder for it to refer to. "Undo" (Ctrl+Z) can bring it back because it's still in memory.
  16. "Freezing" is like a temporary hold. If it was frozen from a MIDI track and you want it to remain, you can "Bounce to clips..." or record it in real time.
  17. Somehow having an image with the same name as a template embeds the image into the template when opening the Start Screen. Once this happens you can delete the image from the folder and rename the template as desired. Opening the template files in Note Pad reveals the image data.
  18. Edited For some reason the 1st Save As action doesn't ask to overwrite and won't show the pic. I have to Save As a 2nd time for it to work. However, if I create the image before saving the template, it works the 1st time. This method also overrides the default "trigger word" image on default and new templates. Cool! FYI, image must be a BMP or PNG. JPGs don't work.
  19. mettelus is 100% correct. Once you're done Melodyning a clip, Bounce to Clip(s) renders Melodyne no longer in control and removes any doubled clips. Bouncing creates a new file in the Audio folder while removing the original one from the track. If you don't like the results, simply hit Ctrl+Z and start over. Or you could retrieve the original wave and reinsert it into the project.
