  1. As I am seemingly finding the number of sample libraries growing my storage space is shrinking. I see that SSD prices are coming down and probably will continue to do so; my question is are Hybrid Hard-drive/SSDs viable as well as the cost per gigabyte seems to be pretty reasonable. Just wondering what others might have experienced using this type of drive?

  2. I had someone reach out to me about being able to control the T-RackS Leslie Speaker VST plugin effect using their MIDI controller. I was able to put a short video together demonstrating how to use ACT (Active Controller Technology) to do this.

    ACT basically lets you control automation parameters through MIDI which opens up a lot of possibilities.
    What you run into when trying to control a plugin EFFECT is that MIDI is not necessarily available to be passed through to them so ACT is a great help to do this. One of the caveats is that the plugin you wish to control must be in focus. Another point is to record the changes you are doing through the MIDI controller you need to record the changes as AUTOMATION.

    I hope this is helpful as you can take this principle and carry it through to other effects and plugins.

  3. This landed here late this afternoon and it is a very amazing sounding instrument.
    It goes into some very strange and wonderful directions as well as having a beautiful core Concert D piano.
    I am working on putting a video together for this and will definitely post an update when it is ready.
    Also a great time to purchase at the intro price of $119.00.

    I have found no way to see what sound is assigned to each pad, in each percussion patch, without playing through the range of notes assigned to the kit. Without some sort of drum map I have no idea what I'm working with.

    The sounds  for each patch are not listed in the brief User Guide.

    Have you found a solution for this?

    I have only played around with it briefly but noticed things were somewhat  difficult to understand initially, it has been mostly trial and error for me.

    Which is a shame as Sonic Implants and Sonivox were some of the first samples (albeit SoundFonts) that I used in my early projects. The drums, and concert strings were so very nice (especially the Con Sodinos which are missing from the String library in the bundle).

    I picked the bundle up a few weeks ago just to sort of preserve some of these wonderful sounds. The Cinematic percussion and brass are also very nice.

    I was able to authorize it to the eLicenser I use for my Steinberg products.

    While I was messing around playing my wife thought I was watching one of those "Beef; It's What's For Dinner" commercials ;)

    Yeah, looks like a variant of the LABS interface. I am very surprised as it seems there is so much wasted space in the GUI.  

    It seems Spitfire is positioning this as a collaborative product somehow to help users share compositions. They also mention creating template libraries for users to exchange as well; most of what I have seen center around Logic users. They have a couple of recent videos where they build a “giant” template and a contest to guess the amount of RAM that is being used. So yes it appears there could potentially be many instances of the Spitfire plugin running in any given project.

    It will be interesting to see how this continues to develop.

    Don't want to go too far off topic but what direction (mobo, RAM, etc.) are you looking at? I am still very confused and somewhat sticker shocked at trying to figure out the best route to go to get the most bang and future proofing for my buck. ;) 

  9. I was blessed by one of my clients/friends and I was able to pre-order this! I think the lead time between announcing and actually being available was a little long; just about 32 days to go 😜

    The problem now is that I am now looking to upgrade my computer which is a whole other situation indeed. Looking to build an i9 system so it should hold me for a while. I have been running an i5 setup for many years but over the last little bit have been just hitting the ceiling problem shine so many things and this new library coming is just another reason to look into getting a more powerful system to handle things.

    Very excited however and of course will keep everyone up to date on my progress!

    @Carlos, I am just learning how to use this driver myself so I am not sure how it would work in your situation. What I am discovering is their stability and performance not only in Cakewalk but other audio recording and capturing apps as well. 

    The best thing to do is download and try it for yourself.  Having the PDF manual available through the link I shared above will also help. You can always rollback to your previous driver if you find that it’s not working for you. There is a little learning curve (which I am discovering) but once you start to understand how the patching system works there seems to be an amazing depth of how you can use this to communicate between several audio apps at the same time and even work with audio between interfaces and other computers through using networked audio transfer.

    It would be very interesting if someone was able to pick up the torch and continue developing this (with the author family’s approval of course) as it is a very well coded piece of software that as I mentioned earlier seems to have exceptional stability and performance.

    Yep as always the first place I go.  Your response just gave me more inspiration to just keep trying and when you get down to it it's all about the search terms to really dig down and find what you are looking for if it is available. I'm not one to give up easily ;)

  12. I am working on some music and audio for a 5 minute short and looking for an Impulse Response of an outdoor space I can use with some dialog.

    The two main characters are standing outside of a church having a conversation before going in. It is a small community church and it would be great to have something like that type of IR to use to sort of help fill in the ambiance where I have removed a lot of extraneous mic noise and other distracting elements. I was not involved in the filming and recording of the dialog but thinking how cool it would have been to be able to capture an IR right there on the set!

  13. I have recently discovered this  and thanks @msmcleod for sharing the information.
    It is such a shame that we lost a great developer but thankfully the y were able to come up with this wonderful solution to make ASIOLink available again.

    My experience over the past few days has been amazing, ASIOLink has been running very solid and stable and I look forward to learning more about how to integrate it into my webcasts, tutorials, etc.. I am not finding any type of manual or instructions so I have just been bumping around looking for other resources to help understand the capabilities. I even ran across a video (5 hours long) that was very interesting (no I did not watch the entire 5 hours).

    Thanks for any additional insight on how to use ASIOLink Pro.

  14. @Marcos Kleine so glad it is working for you.

    There is also an option in Preferences - VST Settings where you can "hide" the VST2 if a VST3 version of the same plugin is installed.  I still need to work on creating some custom menus so you could have a VST3 folder and VST2 folder to help distinguish things a little better.  Here is a great explanation from @Ryan IK Multimedia

    *In my case I dragged the MODO Drum VST3 out to my desktop

  16. So I join with other users here who have experienced the crashing when inserting the MODO Drum VST3 Into a project. The screenshots and explanations all have a similar ring to them. I am wondering if we could use this thread to help share info that might help narrow things down?

    Of course the first thing you need to do is submit a ticket to IK Multimedia Support as I have done so they can have all the information as well to fix the issue.

    What I have observed so far is that there is NOT an issue using the VST2 version of MODO Drum.

    Here are a few scenarios I have tried and the result:

    MODO Drum VST3 Loads

    * NEW PROJECT - YES

    * PREVIOUS MIDI ONLY PROJECT - YES

    * PROJECT CONTAINING BOTH AUDIO AND MIDI - NO

    I hope this is helpful as MODO Drum has some really wonderful potential. Until it gets sorted I will use the   VST2.
