  1. Seems like this is aimed a very different market to their previous "Drummer" series for Kontakt. I am not sure what to think about the direction of the Play series, a little bit geared to instant gratification at the expense of versatility?? I hope the next iteration of Komplete offers a little more than new Play series instrument and the expansion pack they seem to be favoring of late. I had a quick scan through the manual and it does not look like individual drums can be output to separate audio channels, but I guess that is all about ready mixed and if the demos are anything to go by that is something it does quite well.
  2. Backup space is certainly a major consideration and one that has been a factor in not going for ST4. I have three sample drives, two of which I image in their entirety. The third houses my EW Composer Cloud libraries, ST3 and Syntronic. The EW stuff is massive but I could download it again any time if required so I am not imaging the disk at the moment. I have the IK archived install files if disaster strikes. But Ideally I would also like to image this disk for speedy recovery. I am toying with the idea of a 12 TB backup drive at some point.
  3. One only has to look at some of the third party content to get an idea of what is possible. I am always somewhat amused when someone comments on a sophisticated Kontakt instrument " If they would just use WAV files I could use them in xyz" I have never got beyond mapping samples to keys and velocity layers.
  4. The count seemed to be struggling to reach 3 free, let alone the top tier. I wonder if there will be an extension or another sweater?
  5. Got a six pack from Best Service, £85, less my loyalty points, seemed the best way to get this. Might get the West Coast now I have the serials
  6. OK, The problems occurred with both Kontakt and Superior Drummer. Screenshots and minidump here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CIMEBe0lnlYpMSMCKCDK1HZML04dLpCN/view?usp=sharing @scook No new thread created.
  7. As I have never used Instrument tracks before I have not looked at "Instrument Track Per Output" so I just tried it. For me it crashes regardless of the Stereo Audio Output" or "Mono Audio Output" settings. With one of them checked I get a fatal error just after the tracks are created. With none checked it does not even get that far. Crash when using the first options - Module Cakewalk.exe - Exception code c0000005 I think I will start another thread about this error. Not a show stopper for me as I will continue as i have always done using MIDI + Audio tracks.
  8. Now I am at my DAW I tried inserting an instance of Kontakt 6 with the limit set to 8 and 4 in both cases I got 32 tracks replicating what you are seeing. I also tried this with EastWest Play and Toontrack Superior Drummer got a similar results, I had not noticed this option before, if it worked it would be very useful.
  9. What version of Kontakt? Up to version 5 there were separate dll for different output numbers.
  10. I have the Arturia V collection. The other BIG difference between sampling and modeling is with modeling you can start anywhere and edit the sound to anything that synth could produce. With a sample you are limited. Of course the Lab is also more restricted. This of course means you are more dependent on the presets in a sample based system, which makes the load times more annoying. What Syntronic needs is a preview system like NI's NKS, (or better still be NKS compatible) clicking on the sound in the browser plays an example of the preset so you can decide if you want to load it.
  11. Well, I weakend and joined the feeding frenzy, just Syntronic expansions. Blau is nice, sonically different to the usual analog fare as is the Galaxy. I also picked up the V80. Not sure what others I will choose. I still find elements of Syntronic frustrating, the load times, particularly when browsing and the limited editing but it does sound good and being able to select filter type is handy.
  12. In your screenshot you are looking at output channels, not MIDI channels (i.e. the mixer channel in Cakewalk the sound is being sent to). You would change the MIDI channel in the Classic Bass interface in Kontakt at the top of the instrument GIU. You probably need to do some study on routing and MIDI in general to preempt future problems as there are some concepts you are not quite getting, we have all been there! Microprism is a mono timbral instrument (it can only load one sound at a time) so I assume it defaults to receive OMNI (any) MIDI channel. Same with TRK-01
  13. Right! if you examine the MIDI track in the event list you will see the events are on channel 11. I inserted the Classic Bass patch in Komplete Kontrol and its silent as its set to receive on channel one. I changed the channel in the interface to 11 and it works. Presumably the other instruments were set to OMNI to receive on any channel. As Kontakt is multi-timberal the first instrument to be inserted will be on channel 1, the next channel 2 etc. by default. I changed the display options in the track header to All from Custom and found you had not selected an output channel for the track. If I set this to channel one it also works. So two solutions are available. 1 - Change the channel in the track header to 1 OR 2 - Change the receive channel in the instrument to 11.
  14. So what happens if you host the VSTis directly in Cakewalk rather than via Komplete Kontrol?
  15. Dimension Pro. If you have the old Sonar disks you should be able to install Dim Pro. There are other free SFZ players available but as the files were optimised for Dim Pro there may be some differences. The SFZ files map the WAV files. Dim Pro also had .prog files which would be the ones you would use. Do you see these?
  16. VSTi hosted in Komplete Kontrol can use different MIDI channels passed through from the DAW, I recently did this as a workaround for some incompatibleities between Studio One and Arturia B3. Another possible issue could be expression. Is it possible the controller is sending expression or volume information and turning the synths down? Looking at the event list in recorded MIDI would show this. I have had a keyboard output spurious data due to a fault. Also some orchestral libraries use the mod wheel as expression. The mod wheel in its default position will be minimum volume. What happens when you increase the modulation.
  17. Seems its accelerating to the next level. I have still not jumped into the feeding frenzy. No denying there is some very nice stuff on offer for what will be a bargain price but I cant get my enthusiasm up. I demoed MODO bass and drums and as excellent as they are I don't think they would a major addition to my already extensive range of bass and drums sounds. The Hammond is the one but again, while it may be the best, a couple of my other options are not that far behind, particularly when put through IK's Leslie. So I am still thinking going in at the lowest level an getting a few Syntronic expansions.

    NI updates

Not seeing the Kontakt update here. I am currently version 6.3.2(R71)
  19. Brings back some memories I used to love Fudruckers when I was in Dubai, there was a restaurant next to my apartment building. I miss that along with great Lebanese, Chinese and other ethnic restaurants.
  20. If you really want the Protius sounds Digital Sound Factory have all the sounds in Dimension Pro format. https://www.digitalsoundfactory.com/product/e-mu-proteus-pack/ I think it's a bit expensive for what it is but they have frequent sales. I think there are at lot more sounds here than VX but I would not swear to it.
  21. Is this very old? If I recall correctly it was 32 bit and a real headache. I digging deep but I think JBridge helped but issues remained (around the time of Sonar 8.5) I ended up giving up on it.
