  1. I'm sort of surprised I didn't buy into the Klon early on - I've had so many pedals over the years. I think I was never really an overdrive user until recently when I picked up the The Paisley Drive. I really do enjoy what this pedal does as a subtle overdrive. I'd love to try an old Klon at some point. The tone snob in my would never accept less than an OG, regardless of whether the cheap clones were as good or not. I've tried a lot of clones of quality pedals and never found one that lived up to the original to my ears. But $8k buys a pair of LA-3A comps - so no, I'd never drop that on a pedal...
  2. Sad to say I saw that one coming. I run a software company and argued it made absolutely no financial sense for them to do what they were doing. Turns out it did make sense, but only if you don't care about the company being a going concern (ie real business). I have come to realize I somewhat like collecting plugins. And if I decide to buy one and I can afford it for even a quick fix of experimenting than what's the problem? For me, I've moved on to sample libraries and unique effects - and no longer lust for any EQs, compressors, etc. When I built my Pro Tools template based on a number of Mix with the Masters classes it was fascinating to see which effects actually get used in all my projects. I added the SSL UC1 to my workflow and now I put an SSL on every track so very rarely do I reach for an EQ plugin unless I have some specific creative reason to do so. That means, if the EQ from the SSL sounds good (which I can quickly tweak using hardware), then I spend zero time auditioning other EQ plugins. If I'm just taming the signal than the SSQ comp is usually sufficient. That said I often reach for a specific comp because they add character. When I learned how to mix with Brauer's techniques we sent the same vocal into 7 or more compressors. You then audition each one on at a time and the one you like most gets brought up the most in the mix (actually, you mix more into it but that's a different conversation). You then mix the others to taste. That was a great learning experience about how much character a comp can bring to a track. That said, I have all the comps I need an then some - no new comp is going to get me excited. I've gotten my mixing workflow to a good point regarding tools. I'm now working on optimizing my creative component and for that I am still very much interested in things that do something new. So, still on the prowl for plugins but more selective. Let the hunt continue!
  3. I realized I need to optimize my current guitar setup. I have a few issues that I'm working on: 1. I recently moved from a single amp back to a stereo setup and I've found that having two tube amps cranked for their best tone is just a bit too loud for me. I've purchased a pair of attenuators to put on the amps. I went with the Weber Mass because it seems to be the best one to deal with the 2 ohm load of the super and I went with the Dr. Z Air Brake as it seems best suited for the Z Wreck. 2. I realized that with the pedals on the floor I don't get nearly as creative as I used to when I had them racked - bending over three rows of pedals to twist knobs while holding a guitar and squatting is HARD. So I elevated the pedal board - but then I couldn't run the pedals that actually required foot control. So I moved the volume pedal, the expression pedal that runs the H9, and the tap tempo pedal that runs all the digital pedals (as well as the Lehle stereo splitter that feeds a Boss loop station, and the Radial Stage Bug I use to send signals to the speakers) to a child board below it. 3. I haven't quite gotten the bugs out of the board (such as the midi interactions of pedals) and I'm focusing on getting everything working perfectly and smoothly. Then I'll tidy the wiring and enjoy! The goal of these three items is to allow me to plugin, press record, and just play guitar without having to think about all the gear.
  4. I can't stand the guy. I find most of his listings to be clickbait (can he stop with the SNAKEOIL headline already?) and I find his reviews superficial. The last thing I care about is his nails. Hell, my toes are painted blue at the moment! 😁
  5. I'm not sure what you're saying here? I can tell you I've used data in business to make decisions that were absolutely counter to what my gut told me. The numbers are the numbers... As the saying goes "figures don't lie, but liars figure."
  6. I have Multipass - Convolver is the one I'm most interested in as well...
  7. I’m hoping they flow this with a sale on their effects.
  8. Sometimes the people in charge have data that shows truths the rest of us don’t see. Just say’n
  9. Interesting. I’ve never wanted to go above 1024. Is that mixing or creating with lots of virtual instruments?
  10. Keep them both because... Just because.
  11. I guess your horse likes a different course... 😆 I will say that a pair of Avid S1s with Pro Tools might change your mind, but it's an investment. 🤘
  12. I tried S1 when I left Cakewalk but never really gelled with it. I loved the arranger feature though. I took a number of mix with masters classes during Covid and they all had Pro Tools and showed how they set up their templates. (Chris Lorde Alge, Scheps, and Brauer). I bit the bullet and got PT and built a template and fell in love. I have a pair of S1 control surfaces and the SSL UC1 between them and it’s the best mixing setup I’ve ever used. I now use Ableton for the creative and Pro Tools for mixing. horses for courses, your mileage may vary, etc.
  13. I got the email - checking out the video now...
  14. Hi Kenny, Turns out cd baby published to YouTube as well. https://youtu.be/4WShzGgl1hc
  15. That might be a little aggressive but I’ll see what I can do. 🤣
  16. That's great that you're thinking ahead Tim. It looks like you live in a beautiful area!
  17. I have been waiting for this one ever since I ran across this video: I picked it up a day or so ago on sale but I haven't had a chance to play with it yet.
  18. This is the first one I've released with vocals. I took a two day Mix with the Masters class with Michael Brauer and finally started to grok his technique. I used Michael's approach to the vocals on this. Interesting note - the bass on this was done by the one and only Bapu! Believe!
