  1. Hi Lynn - thank you very much! I just started testing out the UA Spark plugins and updated the version of this song on the website. I used their 1176 compressors on individual tracks. Man I really like those UA plugins so far - I am going to go for the yearly subscription - to my ears they add a lot!
  2. This is a song from my old band Private Lightning, recorded on Saint Patrick's Day 1980. https://baselines.com/?p=6769
  3. HI Larry thanks for listening. Some of my other songs have been compared to XTC as well. I'm going to have to dig out my old album!
  4. It was a pretty cool time. I remember sitting in the dark in front of my TV watching the moon walk unfold. Truly magical. I was 15 at the time. Thank you for leaving feedback Russell.
  5. Thanks for taking time to listen freddy and of course the nice feedback!
  6. Nice sounds! I heard Georgy Girl as well!
  7. I don't know if this helps, but there is a screen recorder called icecream that will allow you to record what is on your screen. I use it to capture YouTube videos. It's free for recordings under 5 minutes in length I believe.
  8. Hi Freddy I couldn't get to the link. I was hoping to find out whether I agree with your wife or you LOL. Maybe I'll try a little later.
  9. Well I turned the volume up a few DB when this started up! Sounds great guys.
  10. I'd have to say my main influences were The Beatles, Steely Dan, E-Street Band, Elton John and some early Chicago. Anything early 70's probably influenced me the most. Thank you for the note about I'll Be Around - that was a great song!
  11. That's for sure! Most of us probably learned the same way ... from the bands we admired. I know I did.
  12. 🙂 I picked up my old slide rule a couple of weeks ago (inherited from my dad) and tried to remember how it worked. COuldn't even do a simple multiplication any more. The placing of the decimal point was always difficult for me. A little before the calculators became affordable, I got a circular slide rule that was pretty cool.
  13. Thank you Marshall. When I used to gig, people would mention Fairport Convention to us once in a while - I guess it is an influence on me!
  14. Wow thank you! I never got to see Utopia, but I saw Todd by himself one time.
  15. Another great video and tune Nigel - I enjoyed it. I liked the juxtaposition between current and old views. Thanks! Steve
  16. Hi Mark - sounds really great. Nice stereo spread in the phones and excellent performance. Great mix...and .... COWBELL! Who could ask for more? I could picture the band playing on the stage in my head - always the sign of a quality production.
  17. Nice laid back and tasteful playing...I like the horn harmonies.
  18. This is really interesting Lynn. I like all those guitar lines - especially that backward one ( I think it is reversed anyway). I like strange thought provoking lyrics, and this sure is that. I like when you can build up your own story while listening. Personally, I think something in there needs to provide some sort of anchor - it's just personal taste, not that I hear anything that doesn't fit...Maybe it's just a driving bass and drum I am imagining, not quite sure. I like the ending refrain - I think it brings the varied musical ideas into focus nicely before the end. Good work!
  19. Yes! That is really helpful. Back in 2013, my system was pretty hefty, but these days it is showing its age a little. Still, 10 years is longer than I have gone without an upgrade. Freezing AUXs will probably take me into 2025 LOL
  20. This was February's project. When I was a kid, I was fascinated by outer space - I guess I still am today. Maybe some of the lyrics will raise a memory/vibe from your own past if you, like me, are old as dirt and went to college for engineering of some sort. https://baselines.com/?p=6756
  21. Hi Lord Tim - thank you - I spent the afternoon setting up the AUX and Patch tracks necessary in my new project template. It took a long time and some critical thinking, but I am hoping it will work out well for my next project. It would have been so much easier/cleaner with the BUSS folders. And hey, since I went to the effort of setting everything up as AUX tracks/Patch points, Cakewalk will probably implement BUSS folders in the next release. LOL.
