  1. Thanks for the confirmation! Some of my Roland Sound modules also have sets of SC sounds (M-GS64 and the RA30) as well as the Edirol VSC IIRC (the one that came bundled with Cakewalk/SONAR back in the day).
  2. I think you'll find that to be more true for people who have been using Cakewalk for a very long time. I could be wrong, but I don't think it's an old v. new, either-or thing. Personally, I like having multiple methods. Each has advantages and each has disadvantages. Sometimes one method fits the current workflow; sometimes a different method fits better. Having said that, it might be that veteran users know multiple methods and new users only know one. JMO: Making it into an "old, outdated" v. a "new and improved" bipolar debate seems bogus to me.
  3. I suspect they are in the process of updating the infrastructure. I ran into a similar issue with regard to the online documentation and reported it.** I don't have any pressing needs, so I am planning to wait until the infrastructure gets sorted out. If you have an urgent need, you can contact support. **Here's the reply I received. I hope this information helps.
  4. I don't know, but I found some more info. Roland's Sound Canvas VA sound canvas VA versus TTS1 - any opinions? thread on another forum Maybe some people here know how the TTS-1 samples compare with the Sound Canvas samples. I will defer to others who know more of the inside scoop on the TTS-1 samples.
  5. I don't know for sure. Maybe it's one of the samples from the Sound Canvas line of products. Roland should know. Update: I just did a Google search for "Sound Canvas Samples." If my guess is correct, perhaps there are some independent sfz libraries that include samples of the SC piano sample.
  6. You are right. I did quote myself: Very perceptive of you.
  7. Please re-read this ^^^^^ in conjunction with the recent discussion. To me it seems intended as a display of cleverness and purports to be a defense against any possible accusation of being bashy: Now, that's kinda bash-y. 😄 but if you were to do an unbiased textual analysis, I expect the rant would be shown for what it is: an extension of "bashery" as if to say, "You want to accuse me of bashing, well here: read this. So there!!!!!!!" In short, (1) there was a warning in regard to bashing, (2) the ante was upped with a rant, (3) I called the rant into question without resorting to insults,** (4) the ante was upped by with an intended insult, etc. and here we are. **Note: "WTF" was a statement of disagreement, not an insult.
  8. Let's add, "Please stop inflicting your insults, one-up-manship games, etc. on others."
  9. "Giving crap back to those who try to crap on you might not be "kind," but (1) those that dish it out can surely take it, (2) that's the only thing some people understand, (3) speak truth to insults, innuendos, etc." --Me 😜
  10. Actually, it was the truth. I thought of telling you to take your meds for your rant. But I thought that would be mean-spirited, rude, and insulting. Then when you brought up meds, I wanted you to know that that's what I thought when I read your rant. I do not play games like you do. I do not trade insults for the fun of it as you do. I speak the truth. "That's the best you can do?" and "kiddies now . . . . " is part of a typical one-up-manship mindset,
  11. If they honor it for those who paid Gibson, but not for those of us who were long-time paid up-graders since long before Gibson's ownership, I will go into a tirade, scream foul play, vow never to use CbB ever again, will whine and complain anywhere I can, etc.!!
  12. WTF? I really hate it when people rant just to say, "I'm done with Cakewalk." I never understood why people don't just leave. It's been said that misery loves company, but honestly get on with your life and stop trying to bludgeon others. You have a choice to use any software or to not use it. It's really that simple. As for the the Lifetime Updates Gibson offered, I distinctly remember asking myself, "Who's lifetime?" based on all the "End of Life" notifications I had received for various products I had purchased. I don't feel Bandlad owes people anything more over the Gibson "money grab." Bandlab has generously provided free updates with some amazing new features and many improvements and bug fixes for five years. Please just move on. Stop inflicting your misery on others. JMO: People who plan their future so they can do revenge should find better things to do with their lives.
  13. That's odd. On my PC the workspace says "Record" not "Basic." Since @Arpeggio Blues only had 2 posts I just assumed he or she hadn't read the manual and so I ignored the admittedly off-base, inappropriate rant yesterday. But I almost wrote, "I will leave it to others to take you to task for your rant." I hope this thread doesn't get locked from an escalation of insults. I was rather pleased with myself for figuring out (1) what K did, (2) verifying that it did work (3) noticing that the foreground and background colors of clips do indeed change to indicate mute/unmute status, and (3) politely pointing out where @Arpeggio Blues failed to read the ancient posts which referred to Clips (not Tracks) thereby missing something important. In reviving this ancient thread (more than a year old) your diatribe seems to be confusing tracks with clips: Hope this helps. Personal request for @Arpeggio Blues:
  14. Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but "https://legacy.cakewalk.com/Documentation/Home" and related links to the online documentation seems to not work (including Menu Bar > Help > Documentation which for me points to "legacy.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=0x184C5" ATM).
  15. I have used the default M for Marker for at least 15 years. Have you considered changing that in [ P ] references > Customization > Keyboard Shortcuts? To me, flexibility/customization is one of Cakewalk's strong points I don't think in terms of clips and I never use K for anything, but I looked up K** and see its the shortcut to toggle Clips Mute/Unmute. I tested it by recording a short bass line (in both an instrument track and a separate MIDI track). After selecting each in the clips pane (one at a time), K toggled the state between Mute and Unmute. The color of the clip (background and foreground) changed to show the mute / unmute status. Next, I added an audio track and recorded the output of the instrument track as audio. K works on that track as a mute / unmute toggle and the background and foreground change colors accordingly. **Personal preference: I usually look up shortcuts using [ P ] references > Customization > Keyboard Shortcuts, either to search by function or by keypress / key combo [aka Locate Key]. I often find that to be quicker than doing a text search in the Reference Guide. BTW, please note that several people mentioned muting and unmuting clips: In reviving this ancient thread (more than a year old) your diatribe seems to be confusing tracks with clips: Hope this helps.
  16. I don't make EDM, but I thought it made extensive use of samples. If so, I'd think EDM producers would like to have a built-in, fully-integrated sampler complete with all sorts of sample manipulation tools including a variety of looping functions.
  17. Thanks. The new website design looks sexy and geared towards flashiness. I like the motto "Stay connected with us" in part because of the multiple levels of meaning it has. It sounds to me like the company is about making/building connections among various members of music communities. For me it expresses a positive message.
  18. Unfortunately when people just remove comments replies that come after lose meaning unless they quote the comments. Often, other forum members are left wondering what the original comments were.
