  1. Once the plugin browser came in, I hardly use the Plugin Manager anymore. I use the default plugin menus. I thought they did a good enough job of getting me where I need to be in good time. But what I really like about the browser is the search function. Try it. : )
  2. I don't believe there are release notes for BandLab Assistant. Yes, that's what it means. I haven't given it a full going over, but from what I can see and tell, you have some options in what format things get imported/exported. And you are right in that this is gonna open it wide open for collaborations. I am already thinking of using BandLab as a way to put up some trks from my main pc and when I get on the road d/l them to my Surface to mess around with. Also, I can uplaod the stuff I makeup on the Surface and want to transfer to my main music machine. This is really what I have been waiting for!! But I think to do all this you have to have BA 5.0.2. Not much literature in that regard.
  3. Have you tried to use sends on your trks/busses? [edit] Then send the sends to a buss that you can route to where you want. Put a Send on the Master and send that to New Buss. Send the output of the new buss to 7/8 output. [edit2] How many in/outs are you selecting in Preferences/Audio/Devices/Input and Output? On my Fireface I got four choices. How many you have? And do you have them all selected? HTH
  4. Wow!! They must be some good ones! I walked away from old plugins long ago. And I could, because I really didn't have any favs that would stop me from getting a newer version of what I already had. The one thing I had that I still really miss is my ole Turtle Beach Pinnacle. It was a 20 bit sound card that was ISA only. It also had a Kurzweil synth/sampler on it. When I gave that up I was heart broken. Because all I could afford at the time was a Sound Blaster 16 PCI.
  5. Actually, Melda plugins remind me of a synth. I mean almost all their plugs have modulation control. And if you learn to use it, whoa!! I mean wow! : )
  6. Man I forgot about that song!! Thanks Will!!
  7. Send the trk you want to go to the headphones to 7/8 and go to RME mixer, from the software fader, select the button at the bottom and choose 7/8, then look at the bottom of the mixer in the output section and select the headphone fader and turn it up. If what I am telling you dosn't make any sense, then I suggeswt you grab that big manual and start reading it like I did. And I don't mean this in a bad way. I had to read that thing two or three times before I was able to wrap my head around that software mixer and what it is capable of. What you want to do can be done. But you have to know where to route your signal. And that you will have to learn yourself because every system is different. IOW, my In/Out for my software and hardware (big difference) are different from yours. So what I explained is what I do to keep my mix levels the same, but when I want to record and not hear anything coming out of my speakers without changing anything in CbB, I use the RME mixer. Very simple once you know. Just read the manual. I had to. Thought I could just figure it out. Couldn't.
  8. You really pushing now!! LOL Man you never know, you never know.
  9. The reason the clip gets split I think is because of comping. If you notice, all clips gets split all in the same place, like it does when you make your sections to comp. Not sure if this as intended or a type bug. if you do go with the section parts like I do, you might wanna think about doing them all the same day with the same feel. I have done sections over time and they all did not have the same feel/sound to them. Had to go back and redo them! So keep that in mind. Like you, all I use to do was record to tape.
  10. Ok. Another Amp sim! Another next generation. I like Kazrog too. And I will try this, but it sounded better with the really heavy stuff. Not so much with the LP and the standard E tuning. I know I am an old relic, but that's all I use (mostly) is the E tuning. Not sure if this would be something for me.
  11. Yeah Will, same thing I thought. Has potential for sure. And yes that have come really far in a short time. I remember when intro from DS9 look great with the comet and it's tail. Now on my big screen TV it's just ain't the same.
  12. All that is needed for those with no telescope is a pair of binoculars. Find a nice relaxing place and sit back and enjoy. Watching the moon with a pair of binoculars is nice, and all that is really needed for most. At the different phases of the moon you can see the lighted tops of mountains/craters in the dark areas of the moon. Look along the line that separates the dark/light side of moon and you will see it. And it changes each day. Really fascinating stuff.
  13. I was going to tell him about your first suggestion, that's what I do. But your second suggestion is news to me! : ) Thanks David!
  14. If you dig into these plugin, the amount of sound you can get from it are really amazing.
  15. I stumbled upon this today. Worth a watch.
  16. Will I still be able to record on a lane even if there are no selected/promoted clips on that lane? Or will this fix only affect lanes that are muted by the mute button?
  17. Ag Now I am understanding your situation better now and I agree with David on this. That ain't right. It shouldn't be doing this. I am going upstairs and see if I can replicate your issue also.
  18. I enjoyed Interstellar. Haven't watched Arrival.
  19. Here is my work flow. I give this example to try as show how Take Lanes work very well and without any of the problems encountered in past posts. I have my song that I am going to record vocals on. I set up the loop points on the first verse. Start loop point a measure or two before the vocals are to start. End loop point just a few beats, maybe a whole measure after the first verse ends. Then I set up Punch In/Out points within the start/stop loop points. So what I have setup is a repeating section of the song that auto punches in/out. Then I start to record as many takes as I feel is getting it done. Sometimes 5-8, sometimes as many as 20-25. It's never the same. Nor does it need to be. But every take recorded will be the same length. Now I move on to the Pre-Chorus/Chorus and set up the same type of loop points and auto punch in/out. And then I record. And here is the part that Noel was talking about I believe. When I start recording, it places the takes in the same lanes as my first verse takes. I can do as little or as many takes as I want. If it's less, then there will be empty lanes left over. If I go over , it just adds lanes as needed. And because it does this, I can record the whole part on the same trk and not end up with 100's of lanes on one trk, which would happen as many of my songs have three to four verses, three or more chorus, bridges, outros on and on. Me doing 20 takes for each part it adds up. Then I move on down the song till I get it done. I do this for the vocals, the lead/rhythm guitar, bass guitar, what ever is needed. Then I come back and comp a rough take to use as a guide to record the other parts. Once I have the whole vocal/guitar part like I need for that phase of the song, I flatten the comp. The great thing about flattening the comp is that as the song progresses I can go back anytime and un-flatten it, and I can see which takes I used, because it was remembered and reapplied when the flatten trk was undone. It really is a great system that I don't want them to change (and hope they don't). Now I haven't even explained how I can go through about 20-30 takes for each part of the song like it was nothing. Then add that I do this for the vocals, bck voc, rhythm /lead guitar, bass guitar (which sometimes is well over 150 takes) and you begin to see what a time saver this is.
  20. These new Trek shows, are they on regular TV or do you have to pay to stream them?
