  1. That's one Loooooooong list of vendors and deals.
  2. Hi, Tom. Got a license for Acronis 2020 from a post on the Deals forum back in the spring and promptly forgot about it. I activated it tonight. From there, I created a rescue USB drive and then cloned my old 128 Gb system drive on the new 500Gb SSD. Worked like a charm. Didn't partition the new drive so I have space to spare. Not sure if I did any of this correctly but here I am! Thanks for the note on the control panel method - I got Acronis for backup purposes but it paid for itself just cloning the old drive! Now I'll have to clone and replace my sample drive once the new SSD arrives...
  3. Thanks, Bill! That's exactly what I was hoping to find; thought that forum was specific to Cake.
  4. Hi, all. Never posted beyond the Deals section so apologies if I'm off base. Picked up one of those PNY 500Gb drives Larry posted about and now I want to replace my current (120 Gb!) system drive with the new one. Is there a thread in Cakewalk world that you could point me to for some guidance and discussion?
  5. I can't find any info on either in terms of how many scales they support. Any insight here, Zinc?
  6. He clearly leans to Orb in this video and admits to not covering some key Captain functions. Honestly, this has been the toughest decision this BF. They're both good for what they do. I've demoed both and am leaning toward Orb but it doesn't include a beat function. Given how much development has happened in just this year, though, I'm pretty sure they see this as a competitive disadvantage and hopefully develop the capability in future updates. There's a more recent video by this guy that is helping me get closer to the Orb side of the fence.
  7. Aaaand just like that, the next post is the Captain Plugins sale. So much for my resolve.
  8. Got the Samsung QVO 860 SSD for $100 and that other 500Mb SSD that was discussed as a system drive for $50. Now I can focus on not buying software. Yeah, right.
  9. Mostly stock, Zo, but it depends. I got burned with one of the Rig packages and stopped buying them. I have about 8, I think, but go back to American Classics, Fortin, and the Petrucci pack; mostly patches with no pedals and replacing their cab with an IR. If I'm looking for light touches/clean tones, I find the dynamics a bit closer to physical amps but it's negligible in the mix.
  10. THU will never leave my projects mainly because it sounds great and the CPU hit is lower - by a huge margin - than anything other decent amp sim out there. It really is a great plugin. Having said that, Plini, STL have found a home with me but THU remains my main workhorse. Neural plugins sound amazing but the CPU hit is MUCH higher than THU.
  11. Rig libraries are a slippery slope. Depends on who captured the rigs, whether they include cabs in the chain, etc. I like the dynamics of some of the rigs better than the stock sounds, but find myself reverting back to the stock sounds more often than not. Rigs I do like: Fortin, Petrucci. The BE100 isn't bad either, but I'd rather see all of these added as stock amps in THU itself - even as an upgrade path. Just no more rigs. Can't trial them, quality is hit or miss, etc. I agree, Piotr, that its not customer friendly AT ALL. I hope AT5 upgrade makes them rethink their strategy and to work in updates to main THU.
  12. I don't see where gear credits can be used. I haven't bought any but I have a gift card I'd like to use. If I buy Gear Credits with it, will the option to apply them to AT5 show up when I check out? If so, can I also use Jam Points on the balance?
  13. Uhhh...yes, please. I would like to NOT buy what I'm about to buy if the AT5 upgrade is significant enough.
  14. Plini is sublime for most applications. I get the most beautiful clean tone of any amp sim I own from that package and the lead/ crunch amps are equally good. Just a great all-arounder. Going to pick up Nolly for more of the high gain stuff.
  15. Not sure if there will be one with the discounts already at 50%. Zo, what was our best discount last year?
  16. 1. Studio One 5 2. A new governor 3. Neural DSP group buy (any takers, Zo?) 4. Mercuriall? 5. Forgot about AT5 Upgrade. OK, take #4 off. 6. SSD
  17. Beautiful track!!! I love the space and depth you've created to hear each instrument. What SD3 preset are you using? The kick drum has a special punch to it that eludes me...
  18. Death & Darkness is massive (180 Gb) and massively good. I won't be going back to the core library any time soon if ever. Death is perfect for metal genres (and others) but Darkness is really flexible. I ran a few of my NI Kontakt jazz MIDI files past a couple of the kits and the ghost notes and soft touches on cymbals were exquisite. No brushes but if you don't need them, it could work for jazz, too. Best drum VST library I have, and that's coming from a long-time BFD3 fanboy. I still prefer some of those kits to SD3 but the flexibility of the UI means BFD3 doesn't get used much either.
  19. I couldn't MAX grade after getting the AXE I/0 & AT4 MAX combo last year. Guess I need to read the finer print with IK. I mean, its a BUNDLE and said nothing about getting AT4Max for "FREE". Even with the TS2 crossgrade price where it's at, I have no interest in doing anything but piecemeal; way too many other vendors to do business with than to jump into an ecosystem and this nickel-and-dime upgrade game. I guess the thing with IK is that it doesn't work for a lot of heavily invested customers but it CAN work with patience and when the fire sales happen. Unfortunately, that can be a long wait for the latest, greatest stuff. I'll get AT5 to see if it even gets Amplitube on my radar for future products. I don't use AT4 now, but maybe AT5 will do what I need it to do with revamped cabs, etc.
  20. Thanks, Larry!!!!!!! Downloading now...
  21. Maybe, but it sure seems to be having a negative effect here, especially with such a history of convoluted pricing/upgrade policies. Grem may be on to something here, taking the 5SE plunge to get the updates for AT4 MAX. I would take the dive if there was clear language around the upgrade path, which there isn’t. all I want is better sounding amps, a better GUI, and preset management. I’ll pay for that upgrade to my AT5 MAX, but not without Peter clarifying this mess. IK have so many plates spinning right now that I’m not surprised by this. They sold the crap out of TS2 in the last 2-3 months so it MUST have played a part in their P&L and strategy for this release. The fact that the TS2 MAX deal is STILL on but closes so close to this release has got to be driving part of their desired customer behavior.
  22. So I wonder if this means if I crossgrade to TS2 MAX - which includes AT4 MAX - that I'd get AT5 SE upgrade free, too?
  23. But I also want to hear - officially - that this dark magic applies to that same AT4 stuff and not just the new stuff in AT5 MAX: Industry-standard sound with DSM™ (Dynamic Saturation Modeling) and VRM™ (Volumetric Response Modeling) technologies for Hyper-Realistic emulation of real world gear and the best sounding models Dynamic Response Modeling provides real amp response and feel — models dynamic relationship and interaction between power amp and speakers, plus physical and harmonic interaction between individual speakers, cabinet and room construction and mics
