    Mr Clam 2022

John that's absolutely delightful, what a fun project, put a smile on my face. Well done and thanks for sharing. Andy
  2. Hi Wookiee, just had a listen, I like it - your falsetto is coming on leaps and bounds. 😉 Those little keyboard runs sound great and a lovely balance to the mix. Top work Andy
  3. You can't go wrong with a Taylor acoustic, I had a 314ce for years but I px'd it last year for a T5z - I reckoned it would be better for recording and versatility. I do love it but I miss that 'acoustic sound', the one real downside of the T5z is the body sensor (switch position 1) which ironically is supposed to emulate an acoustic. Just sounds tinny and thin to me, it also picks up loads of fret squeak and string noise- I find it barely usable. But I get a decent sound from the other four settings so it's all good. Keep on rockin' Andy

    I'm stuck

I'm getting a fair bit of distortion on headphones - both low and top end - so you may have the signal recorded a little too hot. It's a good basic structure but I agree with John, the drums need more variety and interest; although the e-drums fit the genre so I think they work OK. Keep working with it, either something will come or not. I have dozens of unfinished and half-baked projects - only some will make it to a final cut and I don't lose any sleep over it. Good luck with it. Andy
  5. Love those guitar tones and the acoustic sounds really lush. Chops ain't too shabby either. 😉 Fabulous. Andy
  6. Great song, sounds kind of improvised in places, almost like a jam session. That's meant as a compliment by the way, it has a spontaneous live feel that I really like. Top work all round 👏👏👏 Andy

    John O'Groats

Bjorn, you nailed that 'Scottish lament' with your opening lead violin - reminded me somewhat of the Ashokan Farewell (Ungar) Nicely done. Andy
  8. Update - regressing the driver to the previous beta has solved the problem - I'll file a Focusrite support ticket A
  9. +1 one of my piano synths is throwing an ASIO driver cannot be found error - it's a new VST so I thought it was the software, now reconsidering. Perhaps I will have to try regressing the driver for my Gen 1 2i4 Andy
  10. Now that does sound nice. Problem is that (a) I already have too many piano VSTs, (b) I don't have enough time to play them as it is and (c) it won't sound that good when it's me at the business end. 😂 Andy
  11. I reckon these are tricky harmonies to pull off - you did a really good job on this. Andy

    Dromoland

Fifteen tracks? 😳 Where I'm from, we call that 'two albums'. 😂 Nice work this, nicely rescued and restored - great job. Andy
  13. Thanks, I'll try this I have a Scarlett 2i4 Gen 1 that's been running will on a beta driver they sent me months ago as I was getting endless BSODs. Hopefully they have baked in the fixes with the update. 🤞 Andy

    Tender is the Light

Agree with @mark skinner, another belter, 'nuff said. 👍 Andy
  15. Each to their own eh @jack c. - all of my songs sound the same, most include singing. I reckon a lot of folks would prefer I stuck to instrumentals. 😉😂 I like this Wookiee - a lot of very clever stuff going on. All those augmented and diminished chords give it a slight prog feel (reminds me of some very early post-Genesis Hackett). Great chops and an interesting experiment in the use of a whole tone scale. Andy

    Easy Listener

I had an EKO Ranger back in the day - my first 'decent' guitar, before I understood the meaning of the word decent 😂, I used to amplify it with a Schaller sound hole pick up - not great. This however sounds great, some nice chord changes and as Tom says - there's definitely a lyric and song in here if you look for it. Nicely played Andy
  17. I'm just working my way through the entire album - and I'm loving it. Fabulous stuff Andy
  18. Graham - you will need a dedicated audio interface. So many to choose from and everyone has their particular favourites. Personally I'm a big fan of Focusrite Scarlett gear - I have a Gen 1 2i4 and it's still going strong - I've had it donkeys' years. eBay can be a good source if you're not fussed about new. Just do your homework. Andy
  19. If you're new to MIDI, try this: And check out Mike's other videos while you're at it. John's tutorial videos (post above) are also recommended. Welcome to Cakewalk and music production - simultaneously both the most frustrating and most satisfying thing you can do with a computer (imho). 😂 Andy

    Time Can't Deny

Hard to like this any more than I did already but now it's an absolute country classic. Steel guitar is soooo sweet. If I could have one really minor crit - I'd like a touch more variety in the percussion track. Great work Andy
  21. Very 'Wind And Wuthering' that cover shot. 😉 I love this, the guitars remind me of Ant Phillips' stuff and yes I can hear the Yes and Genesis vibe Keith references. Mic sounds pretty good to me - I've got the T.bone SC450 and I'm pretty pleased with it as a studio mic. Love the sharp ending too. New fan (Another) Andy
  22. Nice effort Larry, I'm not quite getting that reggae feel from the strummed guitar, perhaps it needs to be a little more staccato and less resonant - this mix is definitely better to my ears. I must admit, I am not much of a reggae fan but it is darn difficult to do well, so kudos for taking this on. Andy

    Lead Me On

Pretty cool track - everything sounds great. Top work! Andy
  24. Looks great but at over 400 quid, I think I'll have to pass that one up. Andy
  25. I'm with @Wookiee - definitely better than the original! Interesting choice of song to cover - I thought the genre makeover fitted the lyrics perfectly Andy
