    Metal Chains

Reminds me of some of the stuff I wrote and collaborated on back in the Eighties - all that teenage angst. 😂 Life was so much simpler back then. Took me right back - great job! Andy

    Going Back Home

Bjorn is that a real guitar or a VST? I like the melody too and the strings are a neat addition. I guess I'd like a bit more variation in the guitar track if I was nitpicking but it works pretty well as it is. Andy
  3. I like the bass and the keys - harmonies are great too and some very neat guitar work. All round good job. 👍 Andy
  4. I have loads of CDs, I ripped all the ones I really care about to FLAC years ago, but I don't presume to be able to do a better mastering job than the professionals who did the originals. I'm not sure why I still keep them really, I sold all my vinyl years ago (I am not in the least bit sentimental about vinyl and don't miss it one bit) but I like to keep the CDs. At least the CDs don't take up as much space. 😃 Andy
  5. Yes I agree, cleanliness is next to Godliness where guitar strings are concerned. I clean my hands before playing with washing up liquid (the equivalent of Blue Dawn), which strips just about everything off your hands, bar the skin. 😂
  6. After getting a less than satisfactory tone, pickup response and too much string squeak from my Taylor T5z (traditionally fitted with Elixir Acoustic Nanowebs) I've just put on a set of D'Addario XS coated electric strings for a change. These are the strings that Taylor now recommend for the T5z. Interesting that Taylor switched their allegiance from Elixir to D'Addario a while back, but I suspect that has more to do with money and corporate deals than the relative quality of Elixir vs XS strings. I'm yet to fully road test the new strings, but my initial impression is that they do sound better and don't significantly impact the acoustic resonance of the guitar (such as it is). What do others fit to their electro-acoustics (if you have one), I accept it's a bit of a niche instrument? Andy
  7. Good song, love the ending - very Gretchen Peters - mix needs a bit more work as things are getting buried in there (especially the vocal). This is definitely worth the investment however and has the makings of a great track. Great vocals too btw. 👍 Andy
  8. To paraphrase the late, great Eric Morecambe: 'You're playing all the right chords, but not necessarily in the right order' 😉😂
  9. Different company, different product, different times. There is no licensing carry over from old Cakewalk products to Sonar by Bandlab. If you want the new product, you sign up to Bandlab and obtain it through an annual subscription - circa $150 a year or $15 a month. No immediate plans for a perpetual license that I am aware of although that may be offered in the fullness of time - who knows. Trying to debate this further is pretty pointless and will almost certainly result in a locked thread.
  10. The chords keep going where you least expect them to - definitely in the Wookiee style. I rather enjoyed it - well composed (and played). Andy
  11. Reminiscent of something The Eagles might have written and recorded - and that's a pretty high bar in my book. Only one word to describe this and that word is 'perfection'. I absolutely loved it! Andy
  12. Lol not hugely similar just in a couple of places but then again I'm a huge Genesis fan and hear their stuff in lots of things I listen to.
  13. I know what this slightly reminds me of now - 'Down And Out' by Genesis off And Then There Were Three - now you've just got to add a Tony Banks style keyboard solo. 😂 Seriously though, I'm glad you decided to keep working on this one - definitely worth the effort and a good result. Nice job Andy

    "The Day"

3:56 isn't a prog track - that's barely an intro! 😁 Just kidding - yes there's some interesting time signatures going on - is some of that in 9/8?? Anyway - all that aside - this is well up to your usual excellent performance and production standards. Enjoyed the listen Andy
  15. It works and it's beautiful - such talent - you must be very proud indeed. Andy
  16. Nope - still private on my browser anyway?
  17. Set to private Gary - can't view ☚ī¸ Andy
  18. Nice guitar work (and tone) - cello works really well too - overall a very enjoyable listen. Andy
  19. Hey Rex I don't think this needs much else - I guess you could tweak the instrumental - I mean the voice is the the instrument on show here and it shines above everything. Great job. Andy
  20. Nice laid back arrangement of an absolute classic - one of my favourite tracks. You did a nice job on this - excellent vocal. Andy
  21. Oh boy don't give up on this one Keith, it's a keeper. I've swallowed enough of that corporate BS to last me a lifetime of lifetimes (one reason why I went contracting towards the end of my career, before finally jacking it all in six months ago to try and retain what little sanity I have left). Great guitar work, drums sound good to me. A little spit and polish perhaps but not much else. Did I detect a smidge of Hammond - some more of that might be nice if so. Enjoyed it. Andy
  22. Late 70s I'd say - see the opening post.
  23. Hi @Rhys Lewis I'd be honoured for you to have a listen and I hope you will think I did it justice. Your Dad was a very talented guy and left us far too soon. I'll add a link as soon as I have uploaded it. See You Around Sometime Andy

    Wine o'Clock

Thanks @Wookiee I'll take that. I shall place my trust in the furry ears and leave as is. 😃 Andy
