Bajan Blue Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 This is great - really really enjoyed this - great writing, playing and mix Thanks for posting Nigel
garybrun Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Brilliant mix and track. Drums are really pumping. Talented man!!
mark skinner Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 That was quite a production! Sounds like you did a massive amount of work on the sax alone. I absolutely loved the drums (what did you use for these) Sounded like a live drummer from someone like Al Dimeola or Jean-Luc Ponty . Very impressed. mark
Hidden Symmetry Posted September 2, 2020 Author Posted September 2, 2020 (edited) @Bajan Blue @garybrun @mark skinner Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback & for listening. @mark (SD3 for drums, sax was played by a human so can't take credit for that!) Edited September 2, 2020 by Hidden Symmetry 1
mark skinner Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 I thought the sax was too good to be true... I really couldn't understand how someone could achieve that using midi. I was just hoping it was possible. I have a sax but it tickles too much to learn it .. Great job mark
noynekker Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 So great ! Wow, I appreciate how your sax is your voice through this piece, musically interesting with the chord changes. Though, from beginning to end, the snare on 2+4 does not change at all . . . sure, there are fills in the drums, but always that same snare on 2+4 . . . there is an alternate section of interest, but still the same snare volume and exact tone. The recording is all top notch and balanced, but I can't get away from that drum machine thing as I listen. Sorry, don't mean to be a downer, because I SO appreciate what you've done here . . . maybe I just want more drum drama . . . don't mind me, I liked it a lot, but the drums seem important to me this piece somehow . . .
Paul Bush Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Yes I liked this very much lot`s of musical surprises in there , great production over 5 mins long, never once did it get boring now thats not easy to do

Thanks, I'll check that snare out. It's basically doing what I want which is driving 2 & 4 home. Maybe it's too hot in the mix or I'll tweak the performance to change it up. At some point I'd like to replace the canned drums altogether with a live player. I'll give it another go over. Appreciate the critique & feedback. 4 hours ago, Paul Bush said: Yes I liked this very much lot`s of musical surprises in there , great production over 5 mins long, never once did it get boring now thats not easy to do Thanks Paul, glad you enjoyed the tune & for listening.

Lynn Wilson Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 I'm glad that you put two versions up because it was pure joy to hear them both. I love the title, as it does have an Indian flavor that I learned to love from the Beatles. Five stars with two thumbs up! 1

bjornpdx Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 I really enjoyed this esp ~3:20 with the sax and that really cool drum beat. A+
jwnicholson78 Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 Really impressive. It kept me interested through-out. I really enjoyed all the changes, and the sax player was great! 1
Hidden Symmetry Posted September 8, 2020 Author Posted September 8, 2020 @bjornpdx @jwnicholson78 @Wookiee Thanks to you all for listening.
Douglas Kirby Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 I really liked the drum track on this one - they sounded really good - what did you use here? This is a bit different from the music I've heard from you recently - this one is a bit more of an instrumental rock song - perhaps progressive rock. There was a lot going on in the mix, but you made it work - well done.
