  1. Cheers Simon! I might as well nab those Massive expansions too ? I also picked up ReMIDI last week (don't blame me if all my compositions from now on sound like JS Bach knock-offs). I also got Picked Acoustic at Christmas which is fantastic and went for their Electric Sunburst at half price. It sounds great and of course has the familiar NI guitar engine. At least Larry doesn't get all the blame any more
  2. Thanks Larry. I updated via BLA which worked fine for the first time in a while (i.e. no manual update required). The feedback thread is here-->
  3. I updated via BLA from 2019.12 and the process worked correctly for the first time in a while for me although BLA just exited without any prompts after doing the update (maybe that's what it's supposed to do?). CbB seems to run fine and I like the "mouse hover" performance functionality. This allowed me to look back at some "heavy" projects, identify any late buffers and tweak the buffer settings to achieve zero late buffers. I also appreciate the instrument Track Per Output option which worked as expected when I tested with TTS-1, Sampletank 4 and Kontakt 6. Thanks also for the bug fixes! Cheers for the update ? EDIT: My keyboard shortcuts still work fine.
  4. One thing I'm liking in Harvest is that you can lock existing notes and then add new random notes to the pattern that co-exist on the same steps as the locked pattern to create chords. That would be a useful addition to Riffer although I guess you could achieve the same with multiple instances of Riffer. I haven't had any issues with Harvest as yet. You might also like ChordPotion which is a step up from both Riffer and Harvest (actually a slightly different beast). I also picked up ReMIDI which is an interesting concept and worth a look.
  5. Cheers Mesh, just the nudge I needed
  6. Glad to help. Let me know if I can help with anything else.
  7. I'm tempted by Mosaic Voices or Vocalise 2. Does anyone have either of these and care to comment? I have the first Vocalise so I am guessing Vocalise 2 is more of the same but wasn't aware of Mosaic Voices until now. EDIT: Found this YouTube video covering Mosaic Voices and Mosaic Keys. Seems pretty nice at half price.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmSMflL_Qs8
  8. Same here! In fact they regularly send me emails with updates for the Ultimate Bundle which I bought really cheaply over a year ago.
  9. That's a great sound David. I spent a while making this cover using OTS Evolution Songwriter mixed with the Pettinghouse Acoustic Guitar 2. I am a guitarist though not great at finger picking and had limited time so decided to go the virtual guitar route. https://soundclick.com/r/s8bpj0

A standard guitar cable is a mono (TS) connector and is 6.35mm whereas the iPad heaphone jack is stereo (TRS) and 3.5 mm so you would need a splitter/adapter cable to connect the stereo iPad headphone output to the Focusrite inputs. Something like this.. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07XNSN85B/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_ieymEbFC5W552 It might be worth comparing the quality of the iPad headphone out with the headphone out of your iRig Pro I/O as that might be better quality. Using the headphone output is of course in the analogue domain so it would depend on the quality of the DACs being used in the iPad vs IRig. That's one reason why I was trying to use Studiomux which allows the audio to be passed over USB while still in the digital domain. You could always give it a try if you are feeling adventurous! You need to install the server on your PC and the app on the iPad. https://zerodebug.com/studiomux By the way, on a different subject did you know that you might be able to use your Focusrite directly on the iPad ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaARidUY2yU

The closest thing is probably X Drummer from Positive Grid but also check out all of the Luis Martinez drum apps (Lumbeat) as they are brilliant e.g. Rock Drum Machine, Future Drummer, Soft Drummer etc.
  12. Wow! That is very impressive and easy to use. I have used Alter/Ego (Plogue) before but this is miles ahead in terms of realism. Do you know if they ever have sales on the full version?
  13. Hey Mesh, From memory I think the issue is that if you just drop it on a vocal track as an effect then you won't hear anything unless you firstly enable MIDI input on it and then set up a separate MIDI track and either play MIDI in via the keyboard or use existing MIDI notes with the output of that track routed to Vocalizer Pro. It never actually crashed for me unlike their Big Bang Percussion (for which there was a workaround). Compare that to Morphoder/Ovox where you drop it on a track and it defaults to using an internal carrier source so gives an immediate vocoder sound or whatever preset you have selected. You can still route MIDI to it for more note control etc.
  14. I got it as part of the AIEP 3 bundle some time ago and if I'm honest wouldn't buy it separately now but I guess it depends on what else you already have. If I want straight vocoding I usually use Waves Morphoder (currently $29) which I find easier to get the results I want than Vocalizer Pro. If I want more in-depth vocal effects I will turn to Waves Ovox (only purchased this week but I like what I have tried so far) or iZotope VocalSynth 2. So if you have any of the above plugins then you probably don't need Vocalizer Pro. If in doubt you could always try the trial version from here... https://sonivoxmi.com/products/details/vocalizer-pro

My original plan was to integrate the iPad with the PC using StudioMux acting as a link between the two. I wanted to use iPad virtual instruments in the PC environment with audio/MIDI being communicated between the two. It did work but I found the setup a bit flakey and in the end it was too much of a faff. I will try it again sometime though as I'm sure it will improve. I spent a long time hanging out on the Audiobus forum and getting apps when they were on sale. As far as DAWs go I mainly used Cubasis 2 (with all of the Waves and other add-ons) and Garageband, although I also have Beatmaker 3, Stagelight and Beathawk but haven't used them as much. There are a lot of excellent and reasonably priced synths available including some that originated on the PC/MAC. Korg is well catered for with Gadget and Module plus all of their individual offerings. Then there's Moog stuff (Animoog, Model 15 etc), Arturia, IceWorks (Mersenne, Lorentz etc), Yonac (Kauldron, Magellan etc), ApeSoft (iVCS3, Mood), Scythe, Photophore, Sugar Bytes, IK Syntronik and a whole load of others. GeoShred is also a brilliant guitar come synth app conceived by the great Jordan Rudess. I also found a lot of "pattern generation/experimentation" type plugins which I probably used more than all of the other plugins for sketching out ideas when away from the PC such as ChordBot, ChordMaps2, Navichord, Suggester, ChordPolyPad, Fugue Machine, Chordup, ChordBud, LatticeHarmony and a few others. As far as Guitar Apps I use Amplitube, JamUp, Bias Amp 2, Bias FX, Bias Pedal and Tonebridge but really like the Yonac apps e.g. Tonestack and more recently bought Roxsyn in the sales (guitar synth) which is really good fun! Their Steel Guitar is also very good. There is an IOS version of MIDI Guitar which is worth a look but as I have the PC version I tend to mostly use that. Generative Music is also quite well served on the iPad with apps like Wotja, Droneo and Refraktions. I have an old version of Wotja but I'm tempted to get hold of the new version 20 which has a lot of improvements. Utilities such as AUM and AudioShare are also must haves for integrating individual apps and also for sharing and exchanging files between IOS and PC. For a while I used some of the IOS apps when creating YouTube videos, especially Wizibel and Frax HD. I use an iRig HD for iPad guitar input but my old Steinberg UR242 is also iPad friendly so I can use that for more flexibility. I have used this setup a couple of times to record while away from the home studio which worked great and minimised the amount of gear I had to take with me. At the end of the day though I still find it far easier to record/mix/master using a PC based DAW. Here are some of the websites I use to keep track of App Sales as well as the Audiobus Forum (there are others): http://musicappnews.com/ https://appshopper.com/music/ https://www.iosnoops.com/
  16. By the way you can get 35% off this price with the coupon code GIFT35. Not sure how long that offer is on for though.
  17. I have the latest version (4.1.2) of the x64 VUMeter Mk4 plugins installed. I tried both VST2 and VST3 versions and they seem to work fine in CbB using Auto gain. I also tried a mixture of VST2 and 3 on individual tracks and the master bus without any issues. Does this happen in any project? You mention trying it on different tracks and multiple tracks but is that all within the same project? If so it might be project specific. Try starting a new project and see if the same thing happens.
  18. Thanks, yes it's an example of how blending real and virtual can give pretty nice results. I can do some isolated guitar tracks for you if it would help? The Pettinghouse guitar track on it's own sounds OK but unconvincing and it also cannot play the drop D which many newer virtual guitars can do.
  19. Yes I got the bundle a few years back and also bought the V2 ClassicGuitar (Nylon Acoustic) upgrade when it came out. When I got it I quite liked mixing my own real acoustic guitar with the Pettinghouse Acoustic Guitar in pseudo 12 string stereo mode to create a nice wide jangly sound. The bundle does include a lot of reasonable instruments plus quite a bit of "filler" which I have never used. That said I have also purchased OTS, Indiginus, Ilya Efimov and others which as TheSteven says are better sounding. If given a choice now I would probably go with them instead of the Pettinghouse Bundle. FYI here's an example of me using the Pettinghouse Acoustic blended with my own acoustic https://soundclick.com/r/s8bbo4

    Waves OVox

Lol, yes that also happens to me especially with the 200 and I am primarily a guitarist!

    Waves OVox

Yes it's in settings. Fortunately I managed to find and change it before downloading all the HD content.
  22. No problem kevro2000. Glad you got it sorted ?
