You didn't specify which ones but you're absolutely right. -
Feat req: Option for thicker and more visible envelopes
sjoens replied to GreenLight's topic in Feedback Loop
You can change envelope colors in Preferences > Customization > Colors > Automation. -
I'm confused. That color code makes no sense to me, and why use it when #2 below uses the more familiar format (ie: "ff5894de")? My search results for "sectionTypes.json": 1. C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\Arranger\sectionTypes.json 2. C:\Users\"me"\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\userArrangerSectionTypes.json 3. C:\Users\"me"\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\Arranger\sectionTypes.json 1 & 3 are the same file stored in different places. What is 2 for?

I can't duplicate this. Maybe check another project.

Either way. You wouldn't do that when working between views, tho. If you want to tab between floating views and the main view, you cannot have Inspector or Browser floating. They stop the tab process once they're in focus. Inspector wins if they're both floating. If they're both docked, any other floating window can tab back and forth between the main view (Track View). However, the more views you have floating, the longer it can take as tabbing follows a specific order noted in my earlier post. FWIW Sonar X# has similar but slightly different behavior.

Opening 'Bundle' on new system can't find AD2
sjoens replied to icu81b4's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
This may also happen if AD2 is in a different folder on the new system. You can right-click the track & select Replace Synth. Unfortunately your settings may still be lost. -
There are some oddities with floating window tabbing. With all of the following windows floating, focus each one & hit Ctrl+Tab: Inspector: Ctrl+Tab does nothing. Browser: Ctrl+Tab moves focus to Inspector then Ctrl+Tab does nothing. Synth Rack: Ctrl+Tab moves focus to Track View then Ctrl+Tab does nothing. PRV: Ctrl+Tab moves focus to Synth Rack then Ctrl+Tab moves focus to Track View then Ctrl+Tab does nothing. Console View: Ctrl+Tab moves focus to PRV then Ctrl+Tab moves focus to Synth Rack then Ctrl+Tab moves focus to Track View then Ctrl+Tab does nothing. Help: Ctrl+Tab moves focus to Console View then Ctrl+Tab moves focus to PRV then Ctrl+Tab moves focus to Synth Rack then Ctrl+Tab moves focus to Track View then Ctrl+Tab does nothing.

Not working here either. On a side note: Tried to search Keyboard Shortcuts for Ctrl and only one result shows up... when there should be 1/2 a hundred. On another side note: WHY is the Keyboard Shortcuts window delaying so long in Preferences? It also stops at the 1st letter when I try to type anything in the search box. Then Preferences disappears 1/2 a dozen times while trying to type any word there. To get Preferences to unhide I have to click on the main window. I have all of Cakewalk listed to not be scanned with WD. Something screwy going on with the Keyboard Shortcuts window!

Themes -with all the updates what is compatible?
sjoens replied to Michael Fogarty's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
You can... or go to the theme info page in Preferences and contact the creator... or go to the Themes Forum and search for the theme to see if it's been updated there. -
Is it possible to download GarageBand sounds to Cakewalk?
sjoens replied to Lawson Currie's question in Q&A

The short answer to the OQ is No. When inserting a new MIDI track, CbB will default output to the 1st or only device available. In your case BFD. If absolutely no devices or softsynths are present the default is "1-" and the Output dropdown only gives drum maps as an option. If you have a MIDI interface with multiple ports connected AND listed in Preferences, CbB will default to the 1st device. You can label one EMPTY or NONE and switch to it.

Editing Individual Midi Clips (Takes) in Piano Roll
sjoens replied to Ron Benvenisti's question in Q&A
Using the "K" key to mute a clip will hide it when enabling "Hide Muted Clips". Clicking a Take Lane "Mute" button won't hide the clip. -
Sometimes dots are preferred but now I know de limit of delimiters!

Cakewalk deleting audio files on startup
sjoens replied to Mark S Ellis's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
This also works for saving an existing project as a different one and want to keep all it's files & folders separate from the originals. I also like to Create one file per clip. -
Update: Basic issue was solved, THANKS! But there's still an issue when a track name has a fractional number like 1.1 & 1.2. Apparently the naming process stops looking once a decimal is seen. At least now the Replace or Skip window includes Compare so both files can be saved (sequentially) - tho w/o the fractional #s. Example dragging track Piano 1.2 clip to the desktop after dragging track Piano 1.1: Clicking "Compare" results in Piano 1(1).mid & Piano 1(2).mid Then this window pops up: (which ties up the entire system until the file is saved). Clicking either button clears it. The clips can be named 1.1 & 1.2 in the Inspector, but naming tons of clips is tedious. Would be nice if MIDI clips could just be drag copied w/o incident.

Cakewalk deleting audio files on startup
sjoens replied to Mark S Ellis's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
To retain the project and it's audio files you have to save it to the hard drive. .BUN & .CWB files are basically the same thing, archives. Opening one reestablishes the project "temporarily" as a .wrk or .cwp file in Cakewalk and places the audio where you selected it to. Even though the unpacking process creates folders, the .cwp file won't exist on the hard drive until you save it. Closing the project w/o saving will remove the audio from the hard drive as there is no project file to associate it with. -
I lost a lot of audio clips on a damaged HDD that the recovery service was unable to recover. They are good at what they do but there's no guarantee with data recovery. If you have this done I would keep the recovery HDD as a backup and upgrade the main drive to Solid State. Like John said, it has no moving parts to damage itself with. Even good HDDs and floppy disks can fail over time just from age.

Thanks. Running Administrator & Registry edit works for DXi but not VST2. Curious why VST2 doesn't work in any version of Cakewalk. FWIW rgc:Audio Square I VST2 works w/o any "hacks".
-
I have both DXi & VSTi in the same folder. Full permissions granted. Inserting the DXi into a fresh empty project gives the warning. Inserting the VSTi crashes CbB closing it. Same for SPlat. The DXi will load in 32 bit Sonar X1-X3 but they don't even see the VSTi.

Sequential Circuits Prophet Rev 2 INS File
sjoens replied to happyrat1's topic in Instruments & Effects
Looks like it should work but after scouring the web it seems DSI users don't use Sonar/CbB. ? Sorry there isn't more help on this. -
As long as the list pane itself can be collapsed or disappear completely.

Sequential Circuits Prophet Rev 2 INS File
sjoens replied to happyrat1's topic in Instruments & Effects
Sorry, it was the only one I found online. My old synth (different brand) was tricky to configure as well. Somehow I figured it out and refined the ins file to work. -

The alternative is for a GUI to have 2 or more sets of graphic files for different screen resolutions as some DAWs already have. Talk about a themer's nightmare! FWIW, CbB has already implemented size improvements. The current GUI displays a tad bigger than the X series.
