  1. Installed CbB on a new Windows 11 laptop which also installed Melodyne 5. I installed Melodyne 4 editor which said I need to uninstall Melodyne 5 first. Uninstalled Melodyne 5 and installed Melodyne 4 editor. Melodyne 4 editor standalone will not open at all. CbB does not see or list it after a plugin scan. Not listed in Region FX. Location path is listed in PIM Options. C:\Program Files\Celemony\Melodyne 4\Melodyne.dll 1.4 MB C:\Program Files\Celemony\Melodyne 4\MelodyneReWireDevice.dll 1.7 MB C:\Program Files\Common Files\Celemony\Bundles\MelodyneCore-4.2.4.001.dll 57 MB C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Celemony\Melodyne\Melodyne.vst3 1.35 MB
  2. Those units look quite expensive and seem more for studios than joe homestudio guys like me. Still I wonder if this had been the option for all things audio, obsoletion may not be a thing right now?!? RJ45 has always been on just about every desk & laptop out there. But then, once audio is piped to your system, something has to make it audible, like whatever soundcard you have.
  3. So how does one use ethernet cabling to a DAW without an interface? Or does one?
  4. This has nothing to do with Cakewalk but ever since Windows 11 updated to 22H2 a few days ago, Alt Codes 1 thru 32 don't work anywhere except in Excel. Alt+16 = "" Copy/paste still works: "►" OAN, Windows 11 seems more stable after the update. Before it I was getting white screen and desktop refreshes each time it booted up.
  5. Nice! What "bugged" me was the Browser tabs stretching bigger when in focus, as illustrated in the OP. Because I'm all for equality... I made mine all equal - all the time.
  6. No... now ALL tabs are doing it.
  7. Yes. I've already linked to it above. What about LAN ethernet RJ45?
  8. And some of them are better featured than the newest and sometimes overpriced offerings. I still have issues with USB. I've read some on mLAN and ethernet but know little about them.
  9. Sounds relevant to me. Gives hope anyway. Thus the reason for this thread. Some like tecknot get them to work, but according to Studio1 Productions the drivers need to see a firewire chipset somewhere on your system. Also, it seems the way Windows XP, 7, 10 & 11 handle firewire are all different. I don't see a problem for my old XP tower. It has FW all over it, but it's 32 bit and can't run CbB. My Win10 & 11 laptops have Thunderbolt so curious about the adapter route. Like all things PC, YMMV.
  10. Probably best to install CbB last. I've had weird things happen in registry when they're all installed together. And if you're installing 32 and 64 bit stuff, install 32 1st.
  11. Mouse settings are normal and I never leave the flyout. It's only this one tab that acts up. Same behavior in Edge. Could be the mouse itself. Laptop track pad works fine on it but 2 different USB mice don't.
  12. Pre EQ signal is most common. My current mixer actually allows post fade EQ via switch on each channel as did the 1220i. But for me it's more about not having useful features hijacked or compromised in some way. Curious... the only constant thruout the connection wars is ethernet (RJ45). Most newer systems still have them. Higher end audio uses them. Why not these prosumer units?
  13. They all seem to have some tradeoff I can't live with. Thought the new Mackie Onyx12 would be the one but they disabled stereo line Gain on half the channels, which seriously hampers DAW input signal for some reason. I currently use around 12 o'clk gain on line channels. Featurewise the old Onyx 1220i would have been the ticket but it's FW only. Instead of R&Ding this new one, wish they'd just replaced the 1220i's firewire card with USB.
  14. So no hope for a firewire mixer to a new laptop with only usb and thunderbolt4 connection?
  15. Brand new Windows 11 laptop has the same issue.
  16. Has anyone been successful using older Firewire interfaces with newer Windows 10 & 11 systems? How are you doing it, and is it worth the effort. I've read where some have used Apple adapters to bring Firewire up to Thunderbolt. Does this work on PC's with Thunderbolt 4 ports or only on Macs? I still have an old Windows XP system with firewire If I ever get the urge to go retro.
  17. Curious if another adaptor is needed for TB4 or if it would even work with TB4?!?
  18. Something else for page 55: Even tho Theme color Browser | Plug-in Browser | Plug-in Tree Text does affect Folder Names after reopening..., prior to reopening it's set by Track View | Unfocused Track Text.
  19. It was only my 0.02¢. I never use onboard compression... or onboard FX. Would rather they not be there to make room for more useful stuff... like another channel strip??!?!
  20. The strip is 100% right. The book's numbered description isn't. #1 (and #2?) were used in previous versions of Sonar as shown in this Sonar X1 Browser pic: FX Chain icon has always been #8 #9. Why #1 was replaced with #18 for External Inserts is anyone's guess. If #1 & 2 are no longer used, they could be revamped for things like External Inserts. BTW, I changed my Tree and text colors to be less confusing. Currently 3 text colors for 4-5 FX states that don't match the icon colors is confusing. It now matches the plugin dropdown list colors that can't be changed. Are there any 32 bit VST3's? There is an icon. I made it red justincase.
  21. Slight corrections for page 56: "1. FX Chain" "8 9. ?" are reversed. Should be "1. ?" "8. 9. FX Chain" "9. 8." is a white bar of unknown use "18. DirectX effect" is also used for "External Insert" Edited to reverse the reversed corrections.
  22. 1st thing I always try but no affect on this one.
  23. Any help for outboard synths? I've got and old one that loves sticky notes. A quick power switch ON/OFF does it but sometimes that scrambles it's brain leading to a total synth reset.
  24. There's no Line level Gain on stereo channels - I need Gain on all channels. Gain knobs only affect the stereo channel XLR Mic inputs. PreSonus mixers omit these as well. I find the "no-gain" channel input levels too low to record into CbB without post record gain editing. -
  25. True, but I'm not using it to record studio quality commercial grade output.
