  1. @msmcleod A while ago I came across the Shift+Alt method by mistake and posted about it... then completely forgot about it. Occasionally when I split and move a clip, or edit it with Melodyne, it will revert to another part of the clip instead of the part I split, making it unusable. Now I'm wondering if it's just Shift+Alt-ing itself out of confusion. If so, I should be able to Shift+Alt it back into position. Another reason to always bounce-after-split. If it's happening after the bounce, then something else is going on.
  2. If you SPLIT a clip, be sure to bounce both clips as each one contains all the original data even tho it's hidden from view.
  3. Curious, I just tried this and the frozen wave file did not delete from the folder when I unfroze it. However, it did create a 2nd file when I froze it again. Unless there's a setting somewhere, CbB shouldn't delete the files. Unfreezing removes it from within the project, but it should still be in the folder. FWIW, Freezing and Bounce to Clips routines both put "(Bounced)" in the file names.
  4. I would guess clip data is all you get when dragging a clip out of project. Same with audio. Not even the instrument is known. Exporting is needed to include "project" data including tempo.
  5. When I changed several theme file names, the list in Preferences retains the old names. I can only surmise this is because the names weren't changed within Theme Editor itself. However, even after I open the theme in Theme Editor (which does see the new name) and Save As with the same new name, the Preferences list remains unchanged. I have to Save As with a different new name and then Save As again with the 1st new name for Preferences to see it. ***The Preferences list should reflect actual theme names no matter how they were changed.***
  6. I had a similar issue with onboard Creative Recon ASIO drivers. I never used them but as long as they were in Registry, CbB crashed on opening. They were harmless until a certain Windows update, so I believe it was a conflict between the drivers and Windows. There were several ASIO drivers listed in Registry so scook gave me this: If one of these has gone bad it may cause all Cakewalk DAWs and CbB to fail at startup. Export a copy of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO from the registry. Then remove all the entries from the registry and start the DAW. If the DAW does not crash on startup, the problem is likely one or more of the ASIO drivers. Add the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO entries back one-at-a-time starting with the principal audio interface driver, testing the DAW after each one. If the DAW crashes after adding an entry, try re-installing the driver or remove the entry and continue testing. I simply found and deleted the Creative listing.
  7. Can't you just change that folder's permissions? I do this all the time.
  8. It's been a bit sketchy for me, but if you have Melodyne already you can just drag the wav clip to a MIDI track and it should convert to MIDI. Just depends on how complex the part is if editing will be needed. Go to Help>Documentation>Using Regional FX>Melodyne>Using Melodyne>See:To convert audio to MIDI.
  9. I kinda surmised that, although I think it was just called Guitar Rig LE with no version number. My last 2 systems had Sonar 8 installers run only for the plugins, but GR3 LE is nowhere to be found on them so you're probably right. Either that or they configured GR4 LE to overwrite it when X1 came out. I've since upgraded to v4 & 5 so I'm not necessarily looking to use 3 again. Funny thing about plugins engineered to only run in the host DAW they were registered with - some are able to slip by that protocol. I have one that won't run in any version of Sonar except Home 7XL - but it will run in other DAWs.
  10. It would still be nice if both options were in the Help menu so I can choose on the fly. Maybe even a link to the PDF there too.
  11. Deselecting this helps: But it can be tedious at times.
  12. Just found this: http://dimension.technetos.com/ May be some useful info there tho many links are now dead.
  13. I wonder if installing as Administrator would help, as in the case of Dimension. Cool thing about Sonar 8 install disc are the included videos.
  14. If you deselect Preferences>Playback and Recording>Use Multiprocessing Engine, it will only show 1 fat core. Not as impressive to onlookers but leaves more room for other CB modules. And I've never had the need for Multiprocessors anyway.
  15. What was it bundled with? I don't have GT3 (I searched) but just loaded GT4 into an FX bin which asked to transfer GT3 presents. Not sure where it got them but how cool if all plugins asked that.
  16. Me 2. It's quite the orchestration for me to get over 100 tracks. Then again, not sure I ever did. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  17. If there isn't already a way to turn on & off or bypass a MIDI track's controller lane, it would be nice to add it. Prefer individual CC lanes but even all lanes at once, so we can make quick A/B checks. A time consuming Convert to Envelopes could be a work-a-round, but not very efficient.
  18. Must have happened when they "improved" SPlat's PRV Track view list format. Not an issue in Sonar X3 and before. The Add Track button dialog also has a limitation of 99.
  19. All that does is take up Control Bar space.
  20. This is what I deal with daily, and have concluded is the reason for 95% of project/track corruptions. Especially when the original project was created with an earlier version of Sonar AND/OR on a different system. But even when not, the more versions are saved, the more bugs crop up. Often the only way to end the corruption is start a new project and carry over the data or find an earlier version that's bug free. This also helps weed out a wayward track.
  21. Can this be done? Ability to move entire selected area freely. Also, stretch corners independent of each other like Photoshop Transform>Distort.
  22. Did you check the Tutorial forum?
  23. Sometimes A=B. While it helps having MIDI interface & controllers on 1st, I sometimes have to reboot the PC a couple times before Sonar/CbB communicates with them properly.
