Is SONAR Platinum still possible to activate?
sjoens replied to Canopus's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
You can also run their installers and install just the plugins without installing the apps themselves. -
On a few rare occasions I get projects that immediately upon opening, lock up my MOTU micro express #1 output. Deleting all tracks so there are no tracks does not fix it. Deselecting or rerouting outputs in Preferences won't either. Closing the defective project does release the MIDI output. The constant #2 MIDI input is from an old Yamaha keyboard. Don't know why it does that but I ignore it since I don't use it for input.

OK, deleting the synth and all associated MIDI tracks at the same time removes it from the Synth Rack. But deleting the synth track while keeping it's MIDI tracks retains the Synth Rack reference even if the MIDI tracks are rerouted to other synths or deleted later. So does this mean the synth is still actually in the Synth Rack? Or is the Synth Rack only a reference to the former synth? Either way the synth is no longer accessible for use, so why retain it there?

Just curious why, when deleting softsynths from Track View, they remain in Synth Rack. AFAIK there's no way to include or exclude Synth Rack entries during deletion like there is when deleting them from the Synth Rack. For me Synth Rack is normally closed out of sight-out of mind, so it can get filled up with "dead" softsynths. Still on 2022.11

documentation Young Lady's Illustrated Primer to Theming Cakewalk

Thanks for a great addition to CbB. Today I stumbled on several small color changes with 2022.11, so 2023.09 may have even more. Some of them make no sense or there's no reason for them to have happened and most are probably too small to worry about since CbB is now fully baked. -
about viewing my notes in Cakewalk with a virtual keyboard viewer?
sjoens replied to neophyte warrior's question in Q&A
Cakewalk/Sonar only highlights keys in the Piano Roll view when they are being played or recorded thru input, but not when the project itself is playing them. This feature has been requested in the past. Staff view is just the opposite. edited for corrections -

Got that too yesterday. Must have downloaded it unknowingly? Or we got hacked? I just hit the red X. -
You don't need to install anything to get the - now public - Next Beta. But you do have to open a forum account and click the link on Cakewalk's home page to get an "invite" and answer some q's to "find" it on the "updates" channel.

As of Jan '23 here's no security updates for them either. On a more [ ] positive [ ] negative unrelated note, Windows 11 comes with AI assistance. -

It takes awhile searching for a bunch of updates that don't exist but otherwise seems to work fine here. Did you uninstall the old one, reboot, then install the new one? -

All your projects should be "safe" as-is. If a saved project is opened in an older version you'll get a warning that it was saved in a more recent one, but it should still open. -
The beta download requires signing up with Discord, which took 3 "Invalid Invites" and a lot of confusion for it to work. Then you have to search around the forum to find the beta link. It's almost like they don't want you to find it. Returning to the forums to leave comments requires a fresh invite.

Why & how would this even happen, tho? Not up on the latest versions of other DAWs, but last I checked, nobody does MIDI like TTS/Cakewalk/Sonar/Cakewalk. Especially for outboard gear.

Sonar! edit: Old or New!

I mentioned this originally but must have deleted it when editing my post. ? You can check for the audio files by going to Project > Audio Files... or open the Audio folder. When this happened to me, the audio files were missing.

Same Question. Though most installers are only run for the plugins, I like to have X3 & SPlat totally installed. -
Check out my edited post. Unfreezing a track may cause the wave to disappear if there's no wav file in the Audio folder for it to refer to. "Undo" (Ctrl+Z) can bring it back because it's still in memory.
-
"Freezing" is like a temporary hold. If it was frozen from a MIDI track and you want it to remain, you can "Bounce to clips..." or record it in real time.

Somehow having an image with the same name as a template embeds the image into the template when opening the Start Screen. Once this happens you can delete the image from the folder and rename the template as desired. Opening the template files in Note Pad reveals the image data.
