  1. Yes it's oddly on the legacy site but clearly labeled "CakewalkSonar". The link is all I know about but it seems pretty straight forward.
  2. The orange Toasty Sonar reminder only occurs when you're online. I might be concerned if my DAW is offline because I won't see it or know why CbB is shutting down in the middle of a session or project when a date sensitive detonation device that may have been implanted in the final update goes off.
  3. Not in CbB. "Customization\Backup/Restore Settings" is in new Sonar. https://legacy.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=CakewalkSonar&language=3&help=Introduction.34.html
  4. They do it on TV all the time . . . A person could also look for free sample sources online.
  5. Basically they're someone else's custom themes.
  6. Been a while since I've used that. For me, V-Vocal can only be used in 32 bit DAWs as it crashes every 64 bit SONAR/CbB I have, so it's unusable here. It also doesn't seem as intuitive for separating out different sounds if it can at all.
  7. Looks like v4 was the last one to work with Win7 but you might ask Celemony about those points. info@celemony.com
  8. I think you can Save-As the project to a new folder and only necessary files will transfer over. They should all be date stamped by right click > Properties, tho modern Windows Explorers can goof these up at times.
  9. Your best bet is to record the samples "clean" in a "quiet" room or else only record during the quiet cycle of equipment like refrigerators. Noise separation is hit and miss for most software. Normally they rely on a constant sound that can only be isolated if that sound is already singled out somewhere on the recording. But since some sound frequencies overlap, removing them can still cause some degradation to the remaining sound - which can give the underwater effect you mention. Melodyne can sometimes separate such sounds into blobs that can be individually deleted. It might work with Sonar 8.5 as a VST but may be better used standalone.

  11. Most obviously definitely Them Themes . . . "Old Cakewalk" = Cakewalk by BandLab or CbB Sonar Free Tier vs CbB: 1 Arranger track vs many Arranger tracks No Plugin Oversampling vs Yes No Elastique Pro vs Yes No POWR Dithering vs Yes
  12. Works here. Screensets will maintain track and bus CV strip widths but have trouble maintaining hardware output strip widths. Projects saved with narrow hardware strips will occasionally open with wide strips. A bug inherited by CbB from earlier versions but never fixed. A similar bug is with PRV track pane width and settings. They have to be reset each time project is opened even if screenset is locked. More tips: Screensets can be renamed for quicker recall. Each Screenset has it's own Multidock which can have different views than the other screensets. D can be used to toggle between a screenset and it's Multidock - unless it's empty. Best way to keep a favorite Screenset group is by creating a project template.
  13. Even tho documentation says: "Window Layout. Load the saved window layout, including size and position. This option functions as a global screenset, I'm not so sure. Workspaces will ultimately reset custom Screensets, even when returning to None. Another reason I avoid them. They also seem to do weird things with track icons. I use large icons but when switching Workspaces it tries to load large icons in small icon spacing misaligning the strip height in Inspector.
  14. It's not foolproof so let me know how it goes. Screensets are included in the Manager only to display or not the module. I've noticed when loading a project with a custom Workspace/Screenset combo, the main custom screenset loads with no numbers lit in the module. Great if you never change to another screenset. The moment you do the default screensets take over. Only way to return to the custom screenset is to reload the Workspace, and then only #1 will load. Ugh. Nice thing about Screensets is that they can be renamed differently in each project.
  15. Although Screensets are per-project, the default sets are loaded and used in every project until you change one before saving a project. FWIW, using Screensets, Workspaces, and Templates together can create confusion and a lot of users have been tripped up due to not understanding exactly what's going on with them.
  16. Great. All I know is, tho it worked without incident, I kept getting reactivation errors with 2024.07. With 2024.12 you get the never ending toast reminder about Sonar when online. Not even in compatibility mode?
  17. This is what Screensets are for. Once they're set up how you want them, just hit the Screenset number (or top row number key) to flip back-n-forth. Screensets are project specific. Workspaces are global affecting all projects until changed.
  18. Can you automate the Global PC Enable button in Sonar? You can automate individual PC modules ON/OFF in CbB, but there's no option in the dropdown menu for the Global button, which remains lit when they're all off.
  19. It helps when users post in their native language as most browsers have a translate feature.
  20. Could be a side affect of using a MOTU micro lite. Overall it works fine but this isn't the only issue I've had over the years.
  21. I've noticed in CbB that the MIDI activity monitor doesn't always show up in the Taskbar as expected (enabled in Preferences). When it is there sometimes it fails to show activity. Reporting in case Sonar has the same issues.
  22. Delimiting names works for tracks and busses. But no matter which output is selected on a track or bus the hardware output will only display the stereo label. Does Show Mono Outputs not apply to hardware output strips? Or is this a MOTU bug?
  23. Read carefully the post right above yours.
  24. Seems there's a pandemic of CbB activation fails lately and the numbers are growing. Is this because: 1. Users are offline when trying to activate? 2. Users aren't running the last activatable version 2024.12? 3. Cakewalk servers are down or crippled preventing activation? 4. CbB has finally reached it's end without official notice and is no longer able to be activated? 5. Activation is now controlled by an overactive AI collective from an undisclosed location somewhere deep in the multiverse? hint1: there are no wrong answers hint2: there are no right answers hint3: there are no answers disclaimer: hints are automatically generated by (see #4) https://discuss.cakewalk.com/topic/85156-discontinuation-of-bandlab-assistant/#comment-596955
