She has the You Tube face. No thanks. At least there’s no red arrow or circle. However the title still needs the word “real” or “terrifying.” 😁

New Sonar, just so I have this right...

Ok, now I'm scared. -
Thoughts about Cakewalk compared to other DAW?
Terry Kelley replied to Ælleden's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I don’t find Cakewalk or Sonar anymore or less intuitive than most of the others DAWs. You do X by doing Y. In another DAW you do X by doing Z. You’re just pushing or clicking difference buttons. Any of them can be learned if someone spends the time. -
Has it finally been updated?

Because it's BLASPHEMY! KILL THE INFIDEL! But nicely please.

Well “they” have said that mentioning the competition was ban-worthy and I'm assuming strong criticism is #2 but I thought it was a clear and valid assessment. It wasn’t personal but …

But set the speed to 1.5x. I hear some echos …

Early on with the announcement of the new Sonar, Bandlab STRONGLY implied CbB would go away at some point and Sonar will remain rental only. I know some think Bandlab is still making up their mind but some external discussions seem pretty clear - rental only. So the current situation isn’t all that odd for many of us. Creative Sauce must see some dead end in the future and want to focus their resources on their view of the future.

You’re not taking his cushions without a fight. -
To be fair, to stay in business Bandlab has to appeal to the newer generation of music creators. They like most other companies have to go with the “We will make you famous” model. One company does survives via low cost and volume but they don’t offer the sample/library that is so popular now. I expect AI creation will at some point make even the DAWs moot except for the small number of musicians. However, most people don’t care how their favorite song was created. They like it and that all that matters. But it was inevitable.

Although my fix didn’t work for you I suspect they are related problems. I assume this is an audio track and not a frozen or VST track … I was going so far as to look at the wave at the byte level to see if there was a discontinuity but it was smooth. But again, I could mute the track and it wouldn’t happen so I had that little bit of evidence. But deleting that section and replacing it worked. Maybe I missed it but have you tried loading into the new or older sonar to see if it still happens? When it happens it’s frustrating for sure.

Think of it like renting a sofa. For free, you get and can keep the frame, but if you want cushions, you have to pay a rental fee. If you stop paying they will come get your cushions. There is no option to “rent to own” and the fact that you previously bought their recliner doesn’t matter. Nice frame, no cushions. 🤣 And yes, loopback is an option. -
Do animals use metaphors to make themselves feel better?

I’ve seen this multiple times. I can nail down the track but not the cause. I finally just delete that section of the clip and either copy in something or replay it. Not worth the frustration.

The unspeakable ain’t gonna happen. 😇

Did they commit to a fixed schedule for releases?
-
He can’t. He has to stay one step ahead of himself.

Prior ownership of any Cakewalk product is irrelevant to the rental costs of Sonar. Understandably so. Different company all together.

At some point, AI will no long require teaching. But someone will still want credit. As it is, the amount of AI flooding the "music" sites is pretty startling plus the number of AI songs created that are released under multiple artist names to gain clicks. But if you look at the amount of content vs the "likes", it's beyond rational. Companies will continue to AI generate songs to maintain royalty income. No need to pay and artist and producer. I agree that live music (assuming it's not just backing tracks) will be the last bastion of Music. We just have to keep pushing our kids to learn to play an instrument with even the slightest skill. -

The traffic in this forum will drop some when CbB is shut off. I don’t have a sense of how many people migrated to Sonar or if it’s drawn in many new Bandlab users. I have been wondering how long DAWs will last as AI takes over. I would assume even Bandlab will drop DAWs once they have an AI song generator working. It’s only a matter of time. -
The inexplicable wretchedness of trying to use the drum pane

I see this often. My only solution is to shutdown Cakewalk and restart it. It will always work.
