I've used Windows 7 Backup and Restore in Windows 10 to move my system to different computers and new system drives. The Windows 7 Backup and Restore feature allows you to save a System Image of the C drive to an external drive, and create a disk to boot from when restoring the system image to a new drive. Any good backup program should allow you to do this. I used Windows 7 Backup because it's free and works fine. If your controller is connected to a USB audio interface via MIDI cable then you may have to select the audio interface as the MIDI device.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Hide is a specific term in Cakewalk, used when hiding or displaying specific tracks and folders. You can do this by pressing h on your keyboard to open the Track Manager. When the folder is open you can see all the tracks in it, unless you have hidden any of the tracks. When the folder is closed, you don't see the tracks, just the folder, but the tracks are not hidden. You just can't see them because the folder is closed. The state of the folder should be whatever it was when you last saved it. If you closed and saved a project with a folder closed the folder should be minimized when you open the project again. If you closed and saved a project with a folder open the folder should be expanded when you open the project again. Here's how I would do that. Open the MIDI track in the PRV. Click the note on the left side of the screen to select all the notes of that pitch. At the Top go to Process/Scale Velocity. Select Percentages and then enter the percentage you want the notes to change by. Selecting 110% will make all the notes 10% louder. Another method is to again select all the notes using the PRV and then click and drag the top of a velocity controller for one of the notes. This will change the velocity of all the selected notes.

Another useful editing tool is a Spectrum Analyzer that lets you see the frequencies you are hearing. This can be useful to pinpoint sounds/frequencies that you may want to boost or cut. I like Voxengo's SPAN Frequency Analyzer (free) because if you hold down the Ctrl key while you move the mouse cursor horizontally around in the screen you will hear only the frequencies that the cursor is over. Another excellent example of craftsmanship. I can easily imagine people playing those instruments. It's true, d minor really is the saddest of all keys.

I have nothing to add other than suggesting he back up his system drive, including a system image, to an external drive so that if there is a real problem he can just load the backup and pick up from there. Doing that would take the worry out of trying different things.

Sometimes I try to close and re-open Cakewalk but the program doesn't launch so I have to use the Task Manager/Processes Tab to close Cakewalk (which is why I have the Task Manager pinned to my taskbar). This has never failed to close Cakewalk. However, I have had problems shutting down the VLC Media Player and the Task Manager/Processes Tab fails to shut it down, but ending the task in the Task Manager/Details Tab will shut it down. So, my suggestion is to see if Cakewalk is active in the Details Tab and end it there.

If you select a MIDI track and then open the Events window it will show the MIDI events for that track, if that helps. Also, once the Events window for that track opens, you can go to the events in other MIDI tracks in that window.

Pretty cool. Nice separation between the instruments and everything was clean and clear. Very nice bass sound. Present but not obtrusive.

I liked it. Very moody and evocative. I can hear this as background music for an animation. The two note bass figure sounds very timpani-ish, maybe doubled with a huge Taiko drum. Very cool. I'd fix that title, though. ?

I'm not sure what method you are using but I have no problems clicking audio clips and dragging them to where I want them to go. Keep in mind that your Snap setting will affect how the clip can be dragged. If your Snap setting is Measure, or Whole Note, you won't be able to click and drag the clip anything smaller than that, like 1/4 or 1/8. Anyway, to answer your question about alternate ways to move them, select the clip and then click Clip in the Track Inspector. This will display the clip's Properties. There you can manually edit the clip's start time. If you're unsure what that is, look at the start time of the clip you want the other one to line up with. You can also copy the start time from one clip and paste it into the start time of another clip. That's one way off the top of my head. Of course, this only works to move the clip around in the track it is in. If you want to move the clip to a different track, dragging and dropping is still the best method.

I haven't read this entire thread but have you tried using CC:7 (Volume)? It's a cool controller because it can change the volume of a midi note while it's playing.

I have to run some errands but I have one last suggestion. Reinstall your Kontakt software if you haven't already. If you installed Cakewalk by BandLab while Kontakt was already on your system Cakewalk may not not be using it at optimum performance. I hope you can get this problem resolved because I know how frustrating it must be. Ah, one more thing... if you have access to another audio interface you could try using that to see if you still have the same problem. If not, the problem might be in your hardware.

Nothing jumps out as being out of the ordinary. What I would do, as part of the elimination process, is to move the Buffer Size slider all the way to the right/Safe position, just to rule that out if it isn't the problem. Also, do media files you play on your computer also have noise when played?

Would it be possible for you to post a screencap of your audio driver settings?

Yes, but it's good to know where those files are. I was suggestion you look in those folders and see where the files are. I have read that there may be problems if they are in a VST3 folder. It's moot if you are reinstalling, but I do suggest you see where the files are being installed to.

What folder are the program's .dll files in? Is that folder being scanned by the Plug-in manager? Look in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST3
