Thank you Jack

This finally has lyrics. I plan to include this on my third album release which will be called Charm and completed some time in early 2025. It won't be ready for all those Christmas sales (LOL - there are no sales anticipated, but I love releasing them anyway). There are both audio and video files available at the link below. https://baselines.com/?p=7138 As always thanks for listening and if you hear anything that could be done better, surely let me know. Steve

Thank you for listening, watching and commenting!!! Steve

Thanks Steve!

Thank you! When I first wrote this, I was playing around with Z3TA (which was part of Cakewalk for a while) and came across that sound that made me think of Telstar. It was called Creamy Poly, and things just developed from there.

Where Love Resides (updated with new version in replies)

Very original. I think some fx on the vocal would add to this. Walking walking in the rain style/- 6 replies

to celebrate the 2024 british Grand Prix- THIS!

Sounds great! -
I like the way you resolve the sustained chords. It is out of the ordinary.
-
Sounds really nice. I think just a touch of reverb on your vocal would add to this. You have a great smooth tone to your vocal.
-
Nice - somehow increasing the drive would be beneficial. I think it has to do with the bass part.
-
Sounds like a good start.

Hi Paul - hey thanks! I'm happy that you liked this song! Steve

Hi Lynn - I look back fondly on the 60s (and 70s) - While there were problems, they seem minor now compared to all the positive stuff that happened to advance us. Steve

I was happy I found a video of that that I could include in my video! I guess you can find just about everything on Youtube now.

Thanks for the nice comment Bruce, I really appreciate it! Steve

Hi Bjorn - yes! The first thing that was done in this song was the synth that sounds like that old Tornadoes song Telstar (Z3TA plugin with Cream Poly setting) - it reminded me of the tone they got - and things developed from there. I read up on that old song, and it was written by a guy named Joe Meek. Evidently, he went a bit crazy. His landlady used to bang on his ceiling when the music got too loud, and one day she came down to complain about it - he shot her and then he shot himself. Thanks for listening and leaving a comment! Steve

Thanks Mark - it took me a while to get the lyrics added to this one. Steve

Thank you for your comments!! Being compared to Utopia is probably about the coolest thing in the world!

Hi Kevin - thank you for listening.

Thanks Nigel. I wasn't sure that I had a good mix, but I worked on it for long enough and had to let it go. Steve

Thanks for listening Jack!

A brief look back at the craziness that was the 60s. Today I added a video to the song as well. It's available at the same link here: https://baselines.com/?p=7130

DistroKids Mixea mastering.
steve@baselines.com replied to steve@baselines.com's topic in General Music Discussion
Yeah - I did this with iZotope Insight and tonal balance. I took my original master and loaded the mixea as a reference track then made some adjustments. The results I got are at the top of this thread. Still, even when getting them as close as I could, there was still something that made a difference. I only did the EQ type adjustments though, There probably something I could have done with the harmonic content. Maybe I'll try that someday. -

See my other comment I just added. I still think it is good, but you really have to be careful when comparing. Steve -
DistroKids Mixea mastering.
steve@baselines.com replied to steve@baselines.com's topic in General Music Discussion
It is, but over the weeks I have revised my opinion a little bit. For the first song, it was great - but for the next few it added harshness even at the warm level. I think if my mix/master is deficient in a certain range it really works well. But you have to be careful! Make sure before you commit. I still think it is good, but I need to adjust my pre-master to take advantage of it. Steve
