Thanks Andy - I have another version coming and I will lengthen the ending a little. As far as the speed, I use a tempo map from the original usually when I do a cover in order to get the speed accurate. Luckily, there are low octave notes I can use to control the way notes are played. I can sustain those ending notes longer by using that to switch from staccato. Steve Update - I got rid of that click at the beginning and lengthened the end. I don't know whether it is cached in your system since you already played it or whether you will hear the change without clearing your browser cache. Thanks again for noticing those things!

Darn it you are right about that click. I was going to have someone else do the harmonies and had a count in for her. I’ll fix that. I think I was at 12 LUFS, but I’ll check that too. Thanks for keeping me honest.

How can I make this instrumental piece sound better?

I haven't read through all the other comments yet, but I did listen. I think the parts are alright, but the mix needs some serious love and time. The song sounds muddy and distant. When you are mixing, try to listen to it as though it is a whole band on stage in a great room - picture it in your mind - that will help with the panning. Make moves that will enhance this picture. I thought that the beat was disguised a little and not driving the song. I don't know really how better to describe this comment, but the guitar part needs more feeling. I would try to think about what you want the song to be about and then give the guitar another go with more passion. (not more complication, more feeling). Hope this helps and you take it the right way! -
Badfinger song (Iff you want it) come and get it

Great job! I loved Badfinger. Their 'Wish You Were Here' album was worn out on my turntable. You probably know that Paul McCartney wrote this song. Also, the band had a tragic career complete with a Yoko Eastman woman involved. My scan takes upwards of 5 minutes now. This is using edit->preferences->VST Settings -> Manual Scan ->Scan. All of the options are checked. So it is probably overkill. Also, over the decades, I have added 13 folders for the thing to scan. I know, it's a mess. I see all of the plugins listed as they are scanned, and each one seems to go relatively quickly...but I of course walk away and do something else after the first minute or so. Every time I look at it though, it seems to be progressing through each one about the same. Steve

Hi - first a thank you for past answers. It's really great to have a forum of people who know things! Now, for another question...I'm sure that many Cakewalk users have enough VSTs so that a scan takes a lifetime when you get a new product. What is the proper (safe) way to get all the old versions of a product (like Ozone 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 !!) out of the picture. Is it simply removing(moving) the ones you don't use out of the VST folder area and doing a rescan? (in the process probably breaking old song files, but that's a price I am willing to pay). Also, is there a fast way to scan JUST for new installations? Steve

It's totally OK to put out bubble gum pop - the world needs more - this sounds really good. I actually even heard a little Todd Rundgren in there (I saw the light). Good show!
