Same here. One thing I didn't mention is that I transcribed it up an octave as well.

Hey thanks Wookiee - I didn't know about the CAL scripts. I haven't played with those very much over the years. Thanks for listening! Steve

Thanks Jack.

Well, I'm apologizing because topology did the hard work here. The first 58 seconds is the inverted midi keyboard part of the song that follows. In other words, it was free, I didn't have to write it. Read here for more information and also to play the damn song. It's interesting to try to pick out the inverted vs the , um, verted. https://baselines.com/?p=6485 Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy the freebie as much as I did. Steve

Green Shirt - @mojoespage on vox

Wow what a bad typo! Thanks for pointing it out to me! -
My Bandlab friend @mojoespage agreed to help me with the vocals. He sounds a lot like Elvis Costello. https://baselines.com/?p=6481

I know what you mean Kevin. One thing that I do that is along the same lines and also very annoying is to 'select all' and export only to get an empty wave file because it selected all the busses instead of tracks. It seems that this should be easy to default to selecting the tracks rather than the busses, but in the long run it is just my error.

Nice chord progression and nice mix too - good work. I could have stood for the guitars at the beginning to be more heavy and in your face, but you were probably going for more laid back. Either way sounds good.

I listened to this on Bandlab whilst driving the 50 miles to my home - I really enjoyed it, so much that I listened twice ?

Thanks for the lyrics! They show a deep understanding of the human condition ?

Nice sounding electric on that track Kevin. Do you have RX? You might be able to get rid of that knocking without redoing the track. I have it here if you want to send me the acoustic track I will give it a try.

Oh I just love this. Can you post the lyrics if you get a moment. I got most of them. But maybe I missed a nugget here and there. More of this please.

Really pretty incredible - great work. I like the nice sync between the music and the video. Well done.

Thanks Freddy! It was one of my all time favorites from that era. Steve

? It was a GREAT time to be listening to AM radio - here it was WRKO and earlier WMEX. WMEX had the venerable Arnie Woo Woo Ginsberg in the late 50s early 60s, more my sisters generation, but I remember some of it in the car. It was the Ruby Baby and Bobby Rydell generation of songs (Bobby just recently passed on). But WRKO was a great station in the late 60s early seventies with DJs that had actual personalities. Even the novelty/niche songs were good (Hey There Little Red Riding Hood, Timothy, DOA, 96 Tears)

I just watched your video - thanks for uploading that. It took me a long time to find out you could drag the song to the bar up at the top - Cakewalk documentation used to be really hard to find things in for me for some reason. I always need to edit the tempo line - I remove a lot of the nodes and try to make the changes as smooth as possible by looking at the wave file to pick out the low frequency kicks and the mid frequency snares. I usually fond out that it can be a bit off over larger stretches of time, but it is better than having the tempo map instantaneously switch by many bpm at a time. It's a labor intensive project but pays off I think in the long run.

Hey thanks Tom - I started out with a tempo map from a download of the original so I think the tempo is right. I think it may sound rushed because maybe I couldn't keep up with the vocal as well as I should! The opening piano is in C minor, which seems like the right key. Steve

That is a cool memory, thanks for sharing. Take a look at my memory which I just posted to John Vere's mail. There's a youtube video of the Lovin Spoonful doing this song (from the 60's it looks like) and then there's another one that is more recent. (White beard LOL)
