Anyone know why CbB is listed as an unsupported DAW for Ugritone products? Anyone have experience using the midi files with CbB?

What did they say?  If Ugritone tested their products with CbB, they should know if they implemented some specific methods that don't work with CbB.  (I can't imagine they didn't test CbB.)

Just a guess: Since you mention midi files, maybe all of their files use some specific midi commands that cause an issue.

How can MIDI files be incompatible with a DAW?! ?

As much as I like the PSP plugins that I have, I'm not sure if I'd use this often enough to justify a purchase, even at this price. I generally reach for Soundtoys EchoBoy first, and almost always get a delay effect that works.

What the hey. It's only $25. Purchased and installed.

EDIT: Holy cwap! Who named the Hank Marvin presets? Good lawd.

LOL.  Your first post convinced me not to do an impulse buy.  But you went ahead and bought/installed it!!!!!!

Other than the preset names, have you developed enough of a hands-on, informed opinion to do a brief advantage-disadvantages review (a good for X, not good for Y review)? Thanks.

UPDATE: Currently trying the 30-day demo for myself; so, no need for a review.  Testing in Voltage Modular (my go-to app for getting baseline assessments via VM's plug-in host).

    • Personal positives:
      • 200+ automatable (easily controllable by CV) parameters
      • Very reasonable CPU load (doesn't tax my 2012 era audio PC)
      • Flexibility
      • per @John Nelson:
        • one of the most versatile and straightforward delay apps.
        • Comprehensive preset menu, too.

So, thanks for inspiring me to give it a try.

. . . files with the extension .assets.  They seem to be duplicates of the .cwp files in the main folder.

Did you do a binary comparison of the *.cwp and *.assets files using the MS-DOS File Compare tool?

    FC *.cwp *.assets /B

    FC [d:][path]filename [d:][path]filename [/A][/C][/L][/Lb n] [/N][/T][/W][/(number)]

    or (for binary comparisons)

    FC [d:][path]filename [d:][path]filename [/B][/number]

Purpose: Displays the differences between two files or sets of files.

  4. If interested in this issue, the YouTuber known as "Top Music Attorney" has a reaction video to the "WTF Udio" video. It's a typical reaction video (setup, plays video segments, comments on video, adds opinion(s), etc.). Jesse Josefsson also has a conversation video with her. Top Music Attorney also has a conversation video

    "YouTubers of the World, UNITE!"

  5. Yeah; it can be frustrating.  I think I wrote up the procedure I used a few weeks ago.  I will see if I can find that post.  IIRC, I logged out of Bandlab via the CbB Help Menu, and then logged back in by going to the Bandlab site (again from the link in CbB's Help Menu).

PS: I am not on Cakewalk's staff, so I have no authority to acknowledge anything about alleged user-hostility with the activation process/messaging.  I am just a user and try to share my experiences in case they help other users.

    UPDATE:

I took a chance, logged out of Bandlab from within CbB, looked up the user name and password, rebooted CbB (might not have been necessary to close/reopen CbB), and logged into Bandlab starting from within CbB.  That worked for me.

Companies such as AARP and AMAC could be partnered with to help create new customers.

I have had a low opinion of AARP for a few years; never heard of AMAC before, but I just looked it up.

AMAC is here to protect your conservative interests, and offer alternative perspectives on how to best solve the problems seniors face today.

From what I have seen, they are not worthy of a high opinion either.

Are you intentionally using a specific Workspace? If its a custom workspace, did you exclude Sysx? Did you accidentally switch to a Workspace (such as Basic) that excludes sysx?

To see if its been excluded from your Workspace, use the Workspace Manager and look at Show in GUI > MIDI > Sysx.  Is it checked or unchecked.

Also, does Sysx show up under Menu Bar > Views?  If not, try "None" or Advanced.  Does that enable the Sysx function?

FWIW, a few years ago when teaching myself how Workspaces (formerly Lenses) work, I created a Workspace I named "No Views."

I consider Cakewalk's Workspace customizations one of its most innovative workflow features.

  9. I think they should tally up the amount of money each user paid for Cakewalk/SONAR products over the decades (including all upgrades, add-ons, etc.) since Cakewalk for MS-DOS came out and then give a prorated discount/benefits package to long-term users over the age of 70  to cover the Senior pricing plans described above for as long as the historical users live or the individualized prorated amount based on prior spending runs out, whichever comes first, after which the Senior pricing plans as described above kick in.

For Seniors who never paid anything for Cakewalk/SONAR, maybe a deal could be worked out with SilverSneakers

  10. Cool. Thanks for mentioning this.  I will have to take a look.  My first new synth purchase from the MIDI era of the mid-1980s was Sequential Circuit's Multi-Trak.  I have audio files of a handful of test tunes I did with it.  It was fun. I traded it in for a Casio CZ-5000, though I wish I could have kept the Multi-Trak and gotten the CZ, too.

Sequential's MultiTrak had everything - for its time - and to this day, it still sounds great! During the era of the Roland Juno synths, Sequential overhauled their programmable little SixTrak analog sequencer synthesizer and came up with the MultiTrak. It's a six voice analog synth with sophisticated filters, envelopes, modulation capabilities and built-in sequencing.

Back in the days when synths were so much simpler and easier to use than they are today!!!!   ?

  11. FWIW I searched my PC for TTS-1.dll files.  I have some from various dates ranging from 2009 to 2013.  The one that's in my C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared DXi\TTS-1 folder is from 11/9/2010 3:33 PM and shows up in Windows as 5,973 KB. I have no idea if that's the version that CbB installed or if it's just the one the CbB migration selected from what my PC already had (or from a retro-installation of an earlier version of SONAR).

Since it works for me, I am not planning on swapping it out for one of the others I have.  I trust science only to a point and I don't want to risk trying one of the other TTS-1.dll files just for the sake of scientific curiosity.  ?

    Hope this helps.

  12. Wait a sec. Didn't you ask this (or something like it) already?  I just read a post that sounded very similar.

    UPDATE:  Found it!

Does anyone know if CbB Sonar is going to implement the NKS (Native Kontrol Standard) protocol?  Native Instruments is acquiring/partnering with several larger vendors (iZotope, being one of them). and lack of hardware protocol support appears to be a real loss of opportunity.  I would think it would be a really big bang for not a huge programming task.
