  1. So, after all these year, I decided to look up " . . . and Cubie" and found this: In 1967, as a gimmick, the group added [Clarence] Burke's then-three-year-old brother to the lineup, and briefly renamed themselves the Five Stairsteps & Cubie. Keeping with the theme (5):
  2. Thanks for for interest. I will reconstruct and update my now-deleted post and will start a new thread. It is a beautiful day here for gardening and being in the sun, so it might be later.
  3. Thank goodness "Dunescape" is not a trademarked word. I love it as a descriptive term for a sub-genre of so-called "ambient" music I have played around with. I have not read the Dune books and cannot get into the movies at all. That could be related to my non-preference for what some people call "Dark Ambient." But as a word, "dunescape" is an apt descriptor for cascading/overlapping/evolving/textural music (layered with sonic reflections in much same way light makes patterns over rolling and angular environmentally sculptured dunes). Since my interest in this began with using a Moog at college and since so-called "generative music" has been making a comeback, I am now inspired to try making some dunescapes with my modular soft-synth of choice. I know this is probably off topic, but thanks for mentioning "dunescape."
  4. Interesting. I gave up using the arpeggiator because it seems to do non-documented things with MIDI under-the-hood in a way that conflicts with some of my other workflows. The arpeggiator in the image doesn't seem to be in use. @DSL if you are trying to use the Inspector-based Arpeggiator to drive external synth, please write more about what you are doing. Note to self: Possibly add this to the list of reasons to have more documentation for under-the-hood [hidden] MIDI data flow.
  5. It can also be helpful when using a compose-by-layering method (a) with loop-comping phrases (b) when using a larger-console view-over-smaller-track view-bridge UI workflow. So far as I can tell the preference doesn't get saved/restored within Workspaces. If so, that seems to mean that once enabled (which it is by default), an automatically folder has to be un-expanded manually. Selecting a non-foldered Console strip doesn't automatically close the previously opened folder. In the past when default behaviors have changed it seems to confuse existing users (e.g., the change in Rewind behavior of a year or two ago, among others). Thanks for the option. It seems handy so far.
  6. I have a Workspace I am currently using for some tunes-in-progress and when selecting a track in the Console View the folder does indeed open/expand in the Track View to show me the track I am working on. I did a quick test on another PC that's still on 2022-02 (build 39). On that PC selected tracks in the Console View do not cause the folder to expand in the Track View. If this is new in the 2022-06 EA Release, my workflow would benefit from having (a) an option to choose the behavior that (b) can be saved along other setting within a Workspace. I can imagine there might be times when I do want the folder to be expanded but it seems the new behavior is more intrusive when I don't want this behavior. New Behavior Confirmed: Rolledback to 2022-02 Build 39 and the whack-a-mole feature is not there.
  7. The sizing/scaling has worked well on my PC for several years, so I really don't want to change my PC's settings so I don't get this with the new offline help system: Does CbB have a parameter I can change that only affects how much of the help text is within the banner's dark background and how much is below it? (Not a big issue, I can use on-line help and the reference guide pdf.)
  8. Thanks for the question and the reply. I suspect this might relate to what I wrote up as "Last Take Priority." I deleted the post from the EA thread after discovering it wasn't unique to the early access release, but existed before. In short, when it comes to saving projects with non-last take lanes soloed, there are issues when the project is reloaded. Also there are issues with displaying non-last takes in staff mode. Additional info. on the priority of the last take would be appreciated.
  9. I recommend looking for more recent discussions by searching the forum for EZ Drummer 3 threads. Here's one to get you going. There are a number of others that might be helpful, too.
  10. Duplicate post for those who don't go "there" ? : https://tapeop.com/blog/2022/06/09/remembering-dave-smith/ .

  12. I am pretty sure some people with newer, larger monitors have raised this request before (possibly in the feature request sub forum). I stand corrected: not a feature request; already there (see below).
  13. If you first installed Syner-V with the malformed Sound Content files (folder within folder issue) and then installed the corrected ones, from what I have seen that doesn't remove the wrongly installed files. Apologies if my post led you to think the corrected Sound Content files installation would remove them. To me an installer is an installer, not an uninstaller or a file mover. I have added a note to this effect in an earlier post: Many people moved the files to the correct place; so I was only trying to say the malformed files themselves had been corrected. If you had only installed the malformed files, this would have solved it (basically, moving them from the wrong place to the right place). However, if you didn't move them but reinstalled them with the corrected files, you still have the wrongly installed content for parts 3 and 4. The confusion was compounded because evidently the server that many of us use didn't have the corrected files until after June 1st.
  14. Just so you know, you can edit posts. While you cannot delete a post, you can write something like [ post moved to a different thread ] .
  15. Back before they mucked it up with "AUDIO" ? ! Bring back MIDI sequencers!!!!! ?
  16. For the longest time my main Windows 10 PC wouldn't update--the kind of thing that it takes like an hour or so and several reboots, only to find Windows saying (in essence) "It ain't gonna happen" and then claims to undo all the changes (which is never the way it was before the failed update). Then one time Windows figured out it was Virtual Box that was preventing the update. Since I removed Virtual Box, Windows 10 updates itself! When Windows 10 is no longer even minimally supported, when Windows 10 stops trying to update and I am forced to get a new PC that can handle Windows 11), I might consider trying Virtual Box on Windows 10. Never tried Doom, but I really loved Epic Pinball. ? CyberGirl has been waiting for me to get back to her. ?
  17. What the heck: My Cakewalk for MS-DOS doesn't work on XP or Windows 10--even in compatibility mode!!!! Not sure if I tried the Windows 3.1 version under XP. I am pretty sure I didn't try it under Windows 10. I don't do anything with Linux or Mac. I remember when we used to be able to set loop amounts. Personally, if its possible, I wouldn't mind having some updates to the Event List, including some looping structures/commands.
  18. That was very nice of someone to buy you a Syntronik 2 synth. Based on the stated rules, the period for making the selections is 30 days from the end of the GB.
  19. RE: Syner-V parts 3 and 4 look like they have been corrected on the server so the content is no longer nested within a folder within a folder within the zip file. 2022-06-06: If you already used the malformed Sound Content installation files, so far as I have seen using the correct ones will install the sound content, but they do not remove the wrongly installed Sound Content.
  20. Long shot possible solution, but worth the time to check. I used to have Cakewalk shutdown crashes when accessing IK gear for which I didn't have a license. Something about IK's "not-owned-yet-wanna-buy" challenge seemed to triggered the crash--consistently. With the updates, perhaps you are getting something similar. From what I have seen sometimes Custom Shop > Restore My Purchases makes gear accessible again. Yes, its a long shot, I know, but maybe it will help. I usually do a VST rescan, too. Good luck.
  21. I don't play guitars, but it is a great story nevertheless!!!!
  22. Thanks for exploring the GS-V issue. Also, Syner-V part 3 has the same issue.
  23. Yeah--this has always bothered me. I can't remember how many times I said, "It does NOT prevent you from getting COVID; it just decreases the odds you will die from it." Of course, I still refer to cooking food in a microwave as nuking it even though I know the food is not being bombarded with nuclear radiation. Or is it? ?
  24. Is the issue with GS-V the same as Syner-V? I know I had issues with both and resolved them by installing the individual parts. But maybe this is a new issue? It came back to me (thanks to pencil and paper notes): Because it was the largest and I was putting all the new synths on an internal SSD, I installed GS-V first using the Product Manager (because some people recommend that over the individual file installation method. From pencil and paper notes: did Prod Manager issues did manual installation of parts Syner-V was the third to be installed, and by that time I gave up trying to use the Product Manager to install the 11 new Synths. Thanks for reporting the issue the GS-V issue to the group here. I just checked all the Funky Wah presets. They work. Conclusion: Different causes (GS-V and Syner-V), but the same solution works for both with one difference: for Syner-V two of the parts required going into a folder within the out folder to do the correct installation.
