  1. I am mildly inclined to take the side favoring sub-forums for the different products. For example, I can think of reasons for isolating future CbB users from being excoriated for not immediately getting a paid product. Shaming CbB-only users might be fun, but perhaps some of them might need time to add the new costs into their budgets. Maybe some won't be able to use the new version for any of a number of reasons (such as personal workflow needs, vision needs, etc.) and/or won't be able to update to the newest version as soon as it comes out. Separate sub-forums for Cakewalk Sonar and Cakewalk Next sounds like a great idea in theory, but that is no guarantee that people will post in the right sub-form. Whatever happens, I will adapt. Peace!
  2. Thanks for the link to USBDeview, Jim. It shows that my E-Mu 2x2 MIDI interface has a serial number, but my evolution MK-449C controller doesn't! It gives a lot of information and has quite a bit of functionality. Handy utility!!!!!!
  3. Some Cakewalk users might be interested in this material on having unique serial numbers for USB devices. Why do I mention this? Well, because lots of Cakewalk users might be able to relate to this (and related) issues: So, maybe under MIDI 2.0 these kinds of issues will not happen.
  4. My thoughts: (1) He is very clear in articulating the workflow differences he chose to cover and the reason for his preferences and his caveats. (2) At my age, I need to go with what is automatic for me because it takes too much out of me to learn new workflows. (3) I have learned to use CbB's Workspaces to facilitate my workflow preferences for different kinds of projects I work on and the different kinds of tasks I use. I don't have Studio One. It might be better for all the benefits Mike covered, but for a few years my brain has been shedding a lot of crap stored up there without making extra space for new stuff. Just a personal decision. Please don't tell me I am wrong. I am not trying to convince anyone else what works for me is better for them. I'm finally learning this. ? Thanks for asking.
  5. My e-mail also arrived today. So I was going to post this to the MIDI 2.0 thread I posted a week or so ago. I will just post just posted a cross link to this thread, so people can discuss the new news-of-the-day here.
  6. Also works in Home Studio 23.9.0 Build 32.
  7. Thanks for the offer. Maybe another time.
  8. Personal Favorite Cover of a Cream song by an Iconic Pioneer 1970s Rock Band:
  9. Phooey!! I missed an opportunity to post Lonesome Cowboy Burt from the movie 200 Motels
  10. Best cover of Ravel's Bolero by a pop-rock band:
  11. Favorite NRBQ cover of a fantastic '60s instrumental with lyrics in lieu of the gutsy sax part. Bonus track (studio version with official video):
  12. JMO: its kind of too bad (i.e., unfortunate) that the initial thread announcing Cakewalk Next and Cakewalk Sonar rapidly moved away from low-drama fact-finding questions about the new products. I think a question about the help links in the new Cakewalk Sonar after noting that that website change seems to have broken the links in CbB would have been appropriate. I am assuming (rightly or wrongly) that (1) the Cakewalk team has to coordinate the website changes with other departments within Bandlab, (2) they are aware of the issue, and (3) its on their to-do list to get all the links working properly. FWIW, https://legacy.cakewalk.com/Documentation/Home works in Chrome; however, the help button doesn't jump to respective help pages.
  13. Maybe its not a glitch, but a change of ownership sale.
  14. Its funny for what it is, but I still like the official Bruce Bickford clay animations! Based on the trailer, I'd say that AI animation has a long way to go before it will match the quality of hands-on human creativity. 8-{ }
  15. Home > General > News & Announcements > Announcing the Cakewalk by BandLab Early Access Program If you insist on being a fierce advocate for Linux, at least search the forum for discussions of Linux or another possibly relevant place to post your advocacy. For example, you could have chosen to put in a simple request in the Feedback section. Its like you didn't even search the forum for an appropriate place to post your rant.
  16. There are many places in the forum where Linux is discussed. I am not sure why you posted your "request" under the "Announcing the Cakewalk by BandLab Early Access Program" topic.
  17. Thanks for the heads up about the 404 warnings. I just checked the two links I posted here when someone reported getting 404 errors. The links I posted still work. This one also works: https://online.berklee.edu/courses .
  18. @craigb At first I was sitting too close to the screen and I just saw a whole bunch of wrong notes. But when I moved back a bit, I got the bigger picture. ?
  19. Part of the issue was actually addressed in the thread announcing Cakewalk Next and Cakewalk Sonar. Understandable if you missed it because it turned into a lengthy thread.
  20. Phooeey. I missed an opportunity to post Zappa's "Let's Make the Water Turn Black." ? "Free is when you don't have to Pay for nothing Or do nothing We want to be free Free as the wind"
