  1. I'll echo the praise above. This is a fine tune. How did I miss it? t one little crit and suggestion. My acoustic "chops" are not what they should be and "squeaks" drive me nuts. I've gone to using D'Addario Flat Tops, they've really helped me. Buy an extra G, they wear out pretty fast. They're not as "bright", kind of a "played in" tonality, but your guitar is not sounding "muddy" to me so I think you'd get satisfactory results...
  2. Aways a pleasure hearing your work Jerry! (fan here, but you know that) Is the ambiance a part of VSL, or is that a separate VST? t
  3. I remember using the tab key to cycle in the PRV from note to note, and each note's values would display in the inspector module. Also, IIRC, tabing in an audio track would move to the next transient. Have I screwed up a setting someplace? TIA, t @scook, I had done a shortcuts search, missed it. I did not however, RTFM. or in this case the updates... Thanks again!
  4. Here's another link, <disclaimer> I have not watched it yet, probably mostly an advert for Waves</disclaimer> t
  5. A fun listen for sure. +1 t one small crit, you've got that riff 5>4>b3>1>b3 that last flat 3 needs to pushed a little sharp. We refer to it as the "minor" pentatonic scale. Its not a minor 3rd, its the quarter tone in between the minor and natural 3.
  6. I am liking the bass especially! Care to share? Tune is groovin', snare is popping! Loving the piano and organ; oh yeah! Tasty guitar licks, fine vocal; what's not to like? Who is the female voice? t I've run one track thru the BandLab "wringer", they made a mess of it!
  7. We're all grownups here... ?'s t not at all what I expected, and that's a good thing
  8. Jesse goes all melodic; yeah, way kool! ?'s t 9rebmun, 9rebmun, 9rebmun snip me, snip me good....
  9. Always love your stuff Freddy! And I'm awed by the amount of work you put out. ?'s t maybe this is part of the "charm" freddy
  10. I'll echo all of the above. t What's your overall level on the mix, seems a bit light, had to turn it up quite a bit... Not that that's a bad thing...
  11. Ah the "Sensual Sax", I'm sure you did this just for me so big, big ?'s are in order. t the lead in was a bit better on this one...
  12. Does SoundCloud cut the silence on the intro? I'd give it a moment more if that's not an SC thing (cutting the lead in). You've been busy lately! ? t
  13. My immediate sense when I A/B the two mixes was where did the low end go. However, jumping back and forth its not that big a diff some much in the low end; just different. For me, the vocal has to come up; but this genre, your tune, your production... t
  14. Three minute Rocker here, so there's that. Can't comment on the the earlier mixes. There's some "harshness" on the guitar going into "Its a brand new day". (steel finger picks?) You're trying to get some "jangle" there? Gary's mix sounds a bit "muffled" listening to it on OneDrive (I did not download it). Great tune, so some big ?'s! t

As always Carl totally top shelf! ?'s, but that hardly says enough... t dropped a like, tried to leave a comment over at BandLab
  16. I’m listening in the van, so take this with a grain of salt. The bottom is a bit boomy. Maybe it’s the sustained bass notes. Maybe some judicious use of high pass filtering. Great tune, so ?‘s here! t
  17. Is there an in-depth tutorial for using latency monitor? ie: does one run Cakewalk while latency monitor is running? Or is it just a static test? We see it mentioned all the time, but never a tutorial for proper implementation, or how to read the results. t
  18. I'm assuming you mean where do forum members "host" their songs? A quick review shows overwhelmingly its SoundCloud. However YouTube, SoundClick, BandLab, BandCamp all get an "honorable" mention. If you're looking for additonal resources of where to post for peer review, or exposure to listening audiences: well, I don't have any recommendations on that... t
  19. Fixed it for ya... ? I kid, i kidd... t I used it today in fact!
  20. Does this do anything that Fab Filter's Saturn can't ? t
  21. I think this is the "prettiest" tune you've posted Jack. So a big ?'s from me! Better never late, but better late than never... t Gents (and ladies) I helped Jack with the master (notice the small "m") on this one. If you'll remember early on Jack got his mixes a bit "hot", lately they've been very clean, but a bit below commercial level. So let us know if we've got the level up without squishing the bejesus out of it, or driving it into the red...
  22. I'll "ditto" what @Tim Smith said! I'm kind of "stuck" in the late 60's, early 70's; but I does love a "busy, clicky" kick. So, bring it on! t
  23. There's a lot of "congestion" in the middle of the stereo field, and low end mud. Fun one though! Take a look at Mike's video Kick and Bass Side Chain, maybe that will help a bit on the low end. Some high pass filtering on the guitars and keys might also help. Generally I high pass most tracks, some feel you can get carried away with it, but I think it tends to help. Even an open E chord on guitar can stand some pretty aggressive high pass. The fundamental of that low E really isn't what "defines" the timbre of an electric guitar (IMHO). Ignore what it sounds like "soloed", its how it sounds in the mix that matters... Reverb can stand quite a bit of High and Low pass as well. t
  24. Good tune, I hear that. Yeah, I'd push that drum buss up some, unless as Kurt said "that's what you are going for" ? t
