Jackson is right, I guess I should have made that clearer in my response. Aren't we all? No crime there. Lather, rinse, repeat; that's my motto. Mixing is a skill set developed by constant practice. I have/use Ozone, Nectar, Neutron; but I don't "trust" them. More like looking over someone's shoulder and thinking "can I use that technique to improve my work". Fixed that for ya. Similar background, I was busy playing and singing when in the studio. Checkout Lord Tim's comments in Gary's thread (Tim is at the bottom), he shares some interesting thoughts/techniques on getting the mix right. I'll definitely stay tuned.... (I guess I'm saying I like the tune; eh?) t as to the snare, Superior Drummer; got it. Which kit? Which snare? Are you using one on the presets that SD provides? The one thing I struggle with is getting the snare to "pop" right... Think of the "hit" in Light My Fire or Born to be Wild TIA

That snare is "poppin", yeah I like that. Since you are the artist formally known as eDrummist, am I to assume that you are playing an eKit. I must have that snare... to better drown out your vocal in the chorus? There's a kind of Tom Petty quality to your voice. I get you are never going to be happy with the vocal, but you've got to let it "serve" the tune. Let someone else mix this. Its all good... t

So solid on so many levels. Love it, I love it! t

Say what! This is the "Songs" forum, there isn't a person here that hasn't toiled for hours on a mix and questioned every decision they've made. creative process, who doesn't love insight in how others work? No, he was "familiar" with the track, I could be wrong; but no! Coming from a rock/blues background; its all about the call and response... I would "center", and bring up the level, on something when the singer is quiet. I'd have to go thru tracks, but I suspect there's something to "fill the void"; I could be wrong... I'm guitar "centric", and I know that; but with all these tracks, someone is "playing his a-s-s off" everytime the singer takes a long breath. Also, the first section of the solo lacks a "focal" point. I'm not hearing anything, and I find that surprising. The second section has that slide work (Dobro maybe). You've got that pretty well centered. These are my quick thoughts. HTH t big ?'s on the whole process here!

Among the Outer Planets - Piano, synth, and strings

Good stuff! 42k+ views on To The Outer Planets; I'm impressed! t -
I know this makes me sound "lame". But what are the crypto miners mining? t

?'s from me! t #edm, really? and what the hey is metapop? the good thing there, I could listen without having to join. couldn't "like" or "comment", but small price to pay...

Posted on Dec 10th on YouTube, what took you so long to clue us in? ? As always, big ?'s here! t

Louder is always "better". I think somewhere in the middle here is where you want to be. I'm hearing that fiddle and second (third, fourth, fifth? guitars better as well). I'm a guitar player, so not sure the "call and response" is "there" yet. But, more me, more me; right? so you can disregard... Overall, you're at an "A" level. Trust your live sound instincts! (and work on that "call and response" ? mybad) t

I'm easing into MODO, used it today; still not bonding with EZB. t

Softube Model 84, Spring Reverb, and Marshall Silver Jubilee
DeeringAmps replied to cclarry's topic in Deals
@cclarry so if I pick it up on KVR, the Jubilee, what's it cost to transfer the license. I didn't love the demo enough for $49... We paid $19 for the Bluesbreaker; right? t and how does one search the KVR site? -
Yeah, I popped for it too. t gave it a workout in the studio today, really compliments the palmer captures...

That first voice is a little buzzy/screechy/scratchy. Not Yoko, but just as annoying. At 2:30ish its much better. Yikes, Yoko is back at 3:30ish. As Tom said the synth/pads are stellar. Your tune, your vision; you know I'm a fan! I'd have to tame the witches... beeches t

I think Jack is right, bite the bullet and push the vocal fader up! (most of us hate/question our own voice) I'll stay tuned for the re-mix and bridge... t

Haven't had a chance to watch the series yet John, solid bones to work with here. It will be interesting (and old dogs can always learn new tricks!) how it evolves. t dropped a like, even knowing this is a ways from finished; a fan!

Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer. Instrumentation reminded me of ELP, not sure on the vocal style... t -8ish, maybe?
-
I'd bring the acoustic guitar up a bit; think the vocal is fine. The kick is a bit pronounced at some points, but that's a taste/genre thing. Who sang on this one, nice! t
-
That intro is something! I'd fade it in a bit. What's your overall level here (LUFS)? Tim goes all ELP? t
-
Not sure I heard anything there, but there were a few hiccups during playback that were "streaming" issues here (or at SoundCloud). Without hearing the old mix hard to say, but I do believe I had some "issues" in the Vocal level or the vocal verb; IIRC. t

Already a subscriber, did "like" and comment. t Best of luck moving the community to "help" over at YouTube. I've been badgering the Forum for a while; to no avail...

I'll hold the "like", I too t

Sounds good here on the DT990's. There's something in the left can, a fiddle or electric slide? There's some fills there,"call and response", that I think were intended to be more upfront in the mix; again I stress, I think. Its a bit low in the left channel. My ears are not would they should be... t the tune has kind of an Ain't Goin' Down til The Sun Comes Up vibe. A quick listen to that might give a bit of insight into the Country Rock genre; if you have any doubts...

In the process of demoing this, and I'm liking the Celestion Blues. And the fact I can downsize them to 10" & ALNiCo magnets. Pretty cool! Back in the day I was a G12M man, but that's what was "stock" in a 100 watt stack. Had a dozen of them (G12M's, not full stacks?) These days its the Eminence Legend 10's. And I think the "Blues" are getting me there. The 4x12 G12M sounds good, but with the Blues in 4x10 open back, there's a lot less low end to high pass... Keep in mind, I'm capturing my FIFTY with a Palmer PDI 03 & PDI 09 I'm running 2 cabs so I can A/B different setups, (I swing the "mix" bar back on forth) but I'm pretty well "married" to SSSR Room 3, so I haven't really played with the room mics, I did turn the room mics on; my office Cat didn't seem to care. (i7, 16 gigs ram, 11 years old) At $49, I'm thinking I'll pull the trigger on this one. I have WOS, but never really bonded. Q1) So what's the POWER(Wb) do? Q2) Is the speaker distortion thing kind of like the OX Box "cone cry"? I bought an OX, sent it back, didn't "tickle" me at all... t
