Same Dream Every Night I'm going to put together a video with this piece as soundtrack. There are voices on walkie talkies which will be sinister agents watching me. Or something like that. I played around with varying the tempo and inserting pitch bends here and there. I'll probably change some of the notes in the higher pitches since they didn't come out that well. It's a work in progress. Thanks for listening/commenting. -Bjorn

After downloading it yesterday I got an email from Tracy saying "Please download your Fiddle again. We put in a fix of the shorts." Not sure what "shorts" means, but must refer to the staccato problem mentioned above. I'm not hearing any pops here. -Bjorn

Sounds to me like you have a good grasp of composition and music theory. Just need to get the instruments to sound better and seems like you're progressing with that. -Bjorn

Enjoyable listen. Appreciate the up-beat mood of the piece. Well done -Bjorn

Sometimes I find a short sequence of notes that conjure up magic somehow and it does the same to other listeners. You did that here in a couple of places in your song. Very nice. -Bjorn

Freddy, I really like the 50s chords and the kind of Peter Gunn guitar styling. A fun song for sure. -Bjorn

Spare composition that packs a lot of emotion. Good stuff. -Bjorn

The title describes the music perfectly. You handled the orchestration really well. Beautiful. -Bjorn

Downloading it now. I have Bolder Sounds Fiddle ( http://www.boldersounds.com ) which is excellent but another fiddle can't hurt. Indiginus' instruments always impress, and on top of that they're affordable.

Arturia SQ80 V + 2 Sound Banks + V Collection 8 Upgrade - $149
bjornpdx replied to Olong Johnson's topic in Deals
I bought the SQ80 vst because I had the ESQ1 about 30 (!) years ago and they're almost the same. Bought it mostly for nostalgia sake I guess. -
Treesha, I often hear people complain about their vocals, but when I listen to them I nearly always think what are they talking about? The singing is wonderful. And that's what I thought when listening to Walk A Mile. You did a great job with the recording. Now my vocals..they really are bad. ? I thought the accompaniment could be a bit more minor key considering the lyrics but that's just me. -Bjorn

You did a great job bringing out the mournful and haunting sound of the cello (or viola?) Really nice orchestral arrangement too. -Bjorn

wookie, I like your sparse compositions with the distinctive instruments you can easily follow (unlike my cluttered comps) Jupiter, then Saturn then Neptune then Uranus? -Bjorn

Nicely orchestrated instruments. It does sound like a sentimental show tune. -Bjorn

Great song! I especially like the bassline which is mostly heard during the quieter parts (which could be due to my listening environment). -Bjorn

Well, hardly a train wreck. And anyway, you've been blessed with that great country voice that grabs all the attention. If you hadn't mentioned the pedal steel, I guess I wouldn't have thought it was missing. But since you mentioned it, I think it would sound really good here. I like the Indiginus Steel Guitar which is fairly easy to control the various articulations, it sounds pretty good and the price is right (though you need the full Kontakt sampler) -Bjorn

Lynn, Thanks for the comment. Appreciate it. Steve, Thank you. I had to stop and think about what you said and yeah, it really has been years getting together in this virtual place with you and several others. I think I know some of you better than my real life friends. -Bjorn

Steve, thanks! Actually I did more piano roll editing than playing here. Jack, tom Paul - thanks for listening and commenting. David, it started off sounding a lot like Malaguena but not after all the edits I made.

This started off as a Malaguena sounding Spanish guitar song. But I couldn't get the guitar to sound the way I wanted so I tried different instruments (Joshua Bell Violin was close) and finally settled on piano. I could have spent even more time tweaking the melody and esp the accompaniment but you have to call it finished at some point so here it is. Thanks for any comments/suggestions. -Bjorn NI Kontakt Grandeur Piano Omnisphere Strings Heavyocity Vocalise Gravity Pack 02 NI Raum reverb.

Thanks everyone David, the voice is from a free sample library from Future Music Mag (I think) a few years. I think the artist's name is "Coady" judging by the name I gave the folder. And yeah, I don't go to downtown PDX much anymore either. -Bjorn

tom, I used to live near Recreation Park at that time. So you were the guys making all that racket over there? ? -Bjorn

Jack, I can hear a very promising song in there but there's extraneous stuff keeping it down. Not sure if I can give you better advice than others already have except to say you should keep at it on this one. -Bjorn

The Yamaha (and your playing) sounds really good Kurt. It transports me to some idyllic place far away from the world. ? -Bjorn
