  1. So I'm looking at this again and thinking, well maybe the T.Rex and whale were a bit over the top. At least I didn't include the stalking tiger clip. Jerry - Thanks for listening. Not sure how relaxing the T.Rex was for you? ? Hidden Sym, David, Nigel - Thank you. Doug - Thanks. I've done meditation music in the past. Never finished one 'cause I always fell asleep. Bada boom. ? Adalheidis - As Ricky Nelson said: "you can't please everyone so you got to please yourself" Which probably won't earn you money but maybe that's not the point. And you're probably asking yourself, "Who's Ricky Nelson?" -Bjorn
  2. Nice one Doug. I don't know, seems like I've heard this before or maybe parts of it? Anyway, very professional sound as always, the performance and production. -Bjorn
  3. Sounds like a Broadway musical. Very nice. And I like that dash of Middle Eastern phrases in a couple of places. -Bjorn

    Winter Loneliness

I really enjoyed this one Makke! Sounds so good. I think the tempo could be slowed down a bit which would bring out the emotion in those great bends you do. -Bjorn

Jazz isn't my favorite genre but I respect the musicianship. Seems like it's mostly improvisational but somehow the performers make it work. Which I guess is what I mostly pay attention to while listening to jazz. Anyway, nice job on this. Excellent sound. -Bjorn
  6. Great chord changes. Accompanying instrument is very good. Voc sounds bit thin to me. Maybe try doubling the voc track? Your lyrics are always good, this one especially so. -Bjorn
  7. I don't know anything about harps except I like the sound. I had assumed the "pitch bends" were done by physically de-tuning strings somehow, but sounds like they're done in software? Lots of reverb and delay on this gives it an ethereal quality. Don't think you need to add anything more to it. Trying to figure out your name. Greek? -Bjorn
  8. In a Galaxy Far Away I wrote a song that I didn't think was all that good so I made it a video soundtrack. I guess this is a learning Davinci Resolve project more than a real video. I downloaded a bunch of clips from Pixabay and iStock and applied some fx tricks like chroma keying and blending options for interesting results. At least I think they're interesting. Well some are kind of stupid. Fun to do though. Some fx didn't blend well so don't look too close. Thanks for watching/comments. -Bjorn
  9. Spot on lyrics that I can certainly relate to. I really like the "something to prove" bit as well. Got me thinking about what motivates me enough to get out of a writer's block. Wonderful song! Enjoyed it. -Bjorn

    harpers-ferry

Very cool synth intro but maybe too long? The theme that begins ~3:30 is very promising and could be developed into something great. -Bjorn
  11. Interesting stuff going on here David that somehow reminds me of a David Lynch movie. And that's a good thing. -Bjorn
  12. Tom, the video has it all - great images accompanied by music that, to me, describes an urban landscape perfectly. I really liked the Prochnow and Morris quotes at the beginning and, like Jesse, I expected a bleaker story from the video because of that introduction. But I like your take on it, that the city is a made up world of constant distractions. Anyway, I really enjoyed the video. Top notch production for sure! -Bjorn

LarryT - I'll have to look at the levels again. I thought the voices were too low so I raised them and maybe I should have left them alone. Anyway I appreciate the comments. jwnicholson - Thanks. I have no idea what they're saying. My wife is a fan of Balkan folk music and she says the lyrics are usually about a lover's death or else something about herding goats. David - Thanks. The drums are from NI Mideast vsts. Lynn - Thanks! I appreciate the kind words. Antler - Thanks. Seems like a library of vocals has just enough variety to extract one decent song from them. I usually use the vocal phrases. Tom - Thanks. Hmm I'll check that string you mentioned. I've been using NI Raum for reverb lately, pretty much tweaking random presets. I thought about using Melodyne on that bit you mentioned, but I kinda liked it as is. Paul - Thanks for listening and commenting. Appreciate it.
  14. Another winner, Nigel. Your music always has that airy, celestial quality to it that I really like. -Bjorn
  15. Doug, you must live at the Toby studio you're so prolific. Don't think I've heard the BG "aaahs" in your songs before. Nice. Performance and production are excellent as usual. -Bjorn

    A Black Hole

Looking at the waveform told me to expect a roller coaster ride to the event horizon. Very creative but also Kinda spooky sounds you came up with there Wookie, like the sound of coyotes in the middle of the night. I like the abrupt ending - poof you're gone. -Bjorn

Excellent! You guys are good, esp your bass player. Love it. -Bjorn
  18. Gonna put this one on my top 5 Lynn's songs. Wasn't sure how curare would work in a song but you made it happen. Great orchestration - really like how the guitar and organ play off each other. -Bjorn

    Play The Music

Melodica - I've seen them but didn't know what they were called. Love that guitar groove thing going on. Put a smile on my face. -Bjorn
  20. Totally simpatico with the lyrics Freddy. Wish we would all just pause once in a while and think about what we're doing. I like the ending that just stops. Musically I think the song is a bit too dense - too much in the background that takes away from the voc. I really enjoyed it anyway. -Bjorn
  21. Wonderful the "she said/I said" back and forth lyrics. Love your beginning of a relationship story that I think we can all relate to in our own experience. Great job Steve. -Bjorn
  22. Paul, good lyrics, good story. The accompaniment could use more work I think. Just seems like it meanders a bit. Also, the percussion sounds like a click track to me so maybe more attention there as well. Anyway, just one man's opinion. -Bjorn
  23. Wow, Gary, you've been blessed with a wonderful voice and you know how to use it. Excellent recording. Hope you get all the success you deserve. -Bjorn

    Shirin

Steve, yeah I think you're right. The song is long so it would be easy to cut a minute or two to lessen the repetition. Jack, Tim, Makke, Doug thanks for listening and commenting Tom, I like the "3 minute rocker" bit. Reminds me of The Who movie The Kids Are Alright (highly recommended). Pete Townsend says there's a rule in rock music - 3 minutes and 3 chords and that's it.

    ALWAYS T2

Great job Steve! I have some hearing loss which makes it hard for me to follow lyrics so I was glad you posted the text. You have some great lines that must have taken a while to come up with. I don't know what resources you use but I would recommend rhymezone.com for rhymes and as a thesaurus. Very handy. -Bjorn
