Just a nudge to check out the Audio Assault Air Rack that I mentioned earlier in the thread?
Even though its now $9.99 (still on sale, but not the BF** $5 price I mentioned at the time) it looks like it ticks off all the boxes people have mentioned as desirable in an IR handler except for tone matching:- IR Mixer with Tweakable Mic Position
- Serial/Parallel IR Processing
- IR Export Function
- Deconvolver
- Unlimited Slots
- FREE IR Library Included (can use your own as well)
- Resizable GUI
- EQ
- phase delay
- normalizer
- panning
- etc.
**web site says BF sale is still on but when I tried code just a couple of minutes ago it wasn't working for me.
Edit: 12/4 Other people have reported that code is working.-

In fairness to DiscoDSP they do mention it at bottom of the OX-XD page:
"Credit and Licensing
OB-Xd is a software synthesizer developed under a commercial license granted by Vadim Filatov, also known as 2Dat. All rights and permissions for the use of OB-Xd have been lawfully obtained in accordance with the terms of the license agreement."
And it's 'based on', not repackaged. i.e. the modifications have been made - code changes (bug fixes, improvements/enhancements), presets added, etc..
QuotediscoDSP wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2023 2:24 amAs the developer of OB-Xd and OPL, I would like to remind you that your statements regarding our qualifications and actions are inappropriate. While it is true that our work was initially based on open-source projects, we have made significant contributions and improvements to these projects over the past seven years. Additionally, we have always respected and appreciated the open-source community's efforts and contributions.
People appear to be upset that DiscoDSP didn't contribute open source code regarding the original or maybe it's just that DiscoDSP isn't free.
Personally I don't see what the fuss is about - if you want to use the 7 year old v1.0 version of software with no presets use the 2Dat version, if you want the one with the latest fixes/tweaks and included presets buy the discoDSP version or that of another developer.
FWIW - I don't use either. I have OP-X PRO-II by SonicProjects and the Arturia versions.-

DiscoDsp version is based on this freeware
Damn
https://plugins4free.com/dev/427/
How I didn't know this until now
Where in that 340 page thread did you see that?
By based do you mean they had access to the freeware versions code? or that they saw that version & said 'I can build a better one' and went and built their own? -
Here's link to Vital synth (in case you're looking)

You can use CableGuys Reverbshaper as an IR loader.
Unfortunately, the BF sale just ended so it's now $39 but it's an awesome tool.
Here's Dan Warrol walking you through it using it as such.-

Not a better buy (based on price alone) but I picked this up last week. It's insane. One of the best features is the ability to organize the IRs I've amassed, tag them, modify and save, mix with other IRs graphically, tone match, leverage Kirchoff IQ bands, etc., blah, blah. I have no regrets. Just being able to browse and sample IRs with a click is so gratifying. Its way more than I thought I would pay for an IR loader but it's so much more. The stock IRs are really good, too.
Looks cool but at $59 it's going to have to wait till my wallet recovers from BF.

It’s a LA3A
It's a highly respected/rated emulation at that.
It has zero latency and from what I recall a light CPU load (don't recall been ages since I checked, but never had it bog down a project).
I have the other ones (listed previously in this thread) but still use this more than all of the others.-

@Brian Lawler I used to spend a lot of time at KVR, it was my favorite forum for a long time but could get toxic at times. So I switched to this one. I couldn't find any of the threads. Would you mind sharing a link? I'm super curious and might forward it over to Tawnia (8Dio's CEO). Thanks.
Maybe share that I had sworn off spending another dime on anything related to 8dio and picked this up in spite of the obscene disk size.
Still need to find disk space for it (and a couple of BF purchases) but hell froze over long enough for the Paypal payment to clear.-

You have to pay for a year subscription upfront and the interface is yours
and the subscription is less than the price of the interface.
Also the built in 1176 compressor is a nice feature.SOS mag review of Volt
https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/universal-audio-voltQuoteIn other respects, the Volts hold up admirably against their many competitors. The mic preamps have a gain range of 55dB (detailed specs were not available when we went to press), which is wide enough for most purposes, and are capable of capturing a very decent clean sound as well as vintage colour. With modern low‑impedance headphones, the headphone amp delivers a noticeably louder output than most bus‑powered interfaces, and although there’s no control over the level of the directly monitored signal, it’s easy enough to adjust the DAW output level to achieve a good balance when overdubbing. Left/right tracking is a bit awry at very low settings with both the main volume control and the headphone level control, but this is a common problem with stereo potentiometers, and there is no problem at any sort of real‑world level.
The Volt range is a late entry into a saturated market, but with Vintage mode and especially the 76 compressor, I think UA have done enough to make these interfaces stand out from the crowd. They’ve also pulled off the difficult trick of carving out a niche for them without undermining the more expensive Apollo range. Experienced engineers and musicians will appreciate the value of the Powered Plug‑in platform and the Unison concept, but there’s a learning curve involved in getting to grips with them, and the Volts should be perfect for anyone just getting into recording who wants a foolproof plug‑and‑play device for getting their vocals, guitars and other instruments into a DAW. You could even argue that UA have left a tempting gap in their range for something that offers additional I/O for people scaling up from a Volt, but who can’t quite stretch to an Apollo x8p. We’ll see…
If you were looking at picking up the Volt 2 interface this looks like a no brainer whether you have the UAD plugins or not.
If you don't have all the native UAD plugins it's double win.
If you don't want to subscribe for a 2nd year just cancel your subscription.-

$23 to tell you all your plugins sound the same and you wasted thousands of dollars. ?
I've avoided buying something like this because I tend to think there is more to plugins than EQ curves, etc. And aliasing is pretty over-rated. If it is bad enough for you to hear it that is fine for me to avoid the plugin, but I don't need some nerd plugin telling me not to use something that even I can't hear something might be aliasing.
I too trust my ears and if I don't like the way a plugin sounds I don't care who recommends it.
Re PID I've used it to verify what I was hearing more than just see the pretty curves, etc.. We all need a reality check now & then.So many plugin developers/vendors make these grandiose claims and have their
snakeoilsalesmen masquerading as recording/mixing engineers demoing their products:
"and as I turn the #### knob you can hear the added #### on the ####, OMG that's so sweet!" and I'm hearing nothing or nothing close to what their describing.
Am I missing something or it another emperor's new clothes scenario? Plugin Doctor can show you what's actually happening.Running a plugin through Plugin Doctor can be an education. How soft is that compressor/limiter soft knee? How come when I twist knob C, knob A's settings seem to change? Is this bus compressor muddying up my low end or is it something else? etc..
It can show you exactly what a plugin is doing, sometimes better that the documentation.
You also see all kinds of shenanigans - popular plugins that just don't do what they claim, but have a very vocal following.Having said all the above - while I do use it, I don't use it often. It's just another tool that has it's uses but AFAIC at $23 it's a no brainer.

I definitely used the web site for activation, just something went wonky.
It is a great deal - I was planning on Fantasy Orchestra this Christmas, so a free Forbidden Planet is great.
I used the EWIC and had to contact support but a couple of emails back & forth and it was fixed! Under an hour in all, and only that long because I was working on other stuff.

Thanks for the tips. Speaking of BF upgrade prices, I don't see them this year either sadly. Oz from last year's TC sales thread here said he was able to get the whole bundle for $388! Man... I wished I'd had known then.
Thinking about spending $599 today on it.
But before I do. Do you or anyone else know if TC puts the upgrade prices on sale anytime else throughout the year? Or the entire bundle for less than $599?
I already own the LM6 bundle. So am trying to maximize my savings in getting everything.
Thank you if you know or have any advice.
PS. My first post here!
I've been on KVR since around 2000. Good to finally post here. Been meaning to for years. KVR has kept me spending enough so haven't ventured around.
Don't know (apparently I had opted out of receiving their emails) but I would reach out to sales dept and layout the details (I was waiting for an upgrade bundle sale this year and didn't see one - last year it was XX, and that you have the LM6 bundle) and see if they'll cut you a deal. Worst case it that they'll say no (and then put a voodoo curse on you).

BF IR Loaders - I'm tempted but ask myself why buy an IR loader?

I haven't tried it yet but the deconvolution feature (as the web page says: 'Make impulse responses from your own guitar cabs!') sounds like a cool feature.
