  1. I just got Matt's email about his holiday sale (below).
Like Luftrum he's known for being one of the best preset/library creators.

The Unfinished Christmas Sale 2023 (40% off)

The tree and lights are up, the cupboard is full of chocolate and the fridge is overflowing with exotic cheeses… it must be Christmas!

As I continue to recuperate with my shoulder injury, my end of year release plans have been thrown slightly off-track but, that hasn’t hampered my preparations for my annual Christmas sale. Phew!

Absolutely everything on the site is 40% off with the discount code: LFOHOHO. You can fill your boots between December 15th and 31st.

So, even if Santa Claus disappoints this year, The Unfinished Christmas Sale won’t! Plus, there’ll be an added present in the form of a new free, Christmas-themed, soundset for Diva that I’m just finishing up. Keep your eyes peeled for that.  Should go live on my site next week.

Thanks for all the support this year, look after yourselves and have a chill end to 2023. :)

    All the best,
    Matt

Half excited, half disappointed. They release more paid major versions than patches…

they just trying to cash you for little update, wasted money if you have previous version

Maybe V4 will contain 40% more fiber because at this point I can't give a crap.
Sorry but I've got smartfatigue - a condition caused by too many versions that cover the same ground, that are paid updates.

Is JRR supposed to provide me with a license code, cause I don't see one where they say it should be:

May take a couple of hours to show up...
Sometimes it's instantly there other times it can take a couple of hours.  I think it depends on whether they've been pre-allotted license numbers or if they have to request them from developer. I know that for some companies the reseller has to manually log in and request codes (wonder if they have to pay for them at the same time, don't know).

Having Melodyne Studio, and their own Vocalign Ultra, Repitch and Vocalign Project 5, I don't think this has anything really new or groundbreaking.

If I didn't have Pro 4 I would be taking a hard look at the tradeoffs (costs/benefits) before crossgrading too.
For Pro 4 owners it looks like there are some decent improvements (though I haven't had time to test them and won't for a while), there hasn't been a paid update required in a while (FWIR) and the cost of upgrading is less than $60 - so I'm not whining too much, though I do wish it had full ARA support.

Not that this is a benefit for current Pro 4 users but any future improvements are going to happening in the new version going forward so I want to buy in while it's cheaper to do so.

I'm still kind of miffed at Softube. I bought the FET Compressor on a similar sale and shortly afterwards they announced they were dropping support for it.

When I asked about it, they said "we gave you a reasonable upgrade option" which was another $39 bucks IIRC.  So no thanks. I've got my UAD version.

FET upgrade is currently on sale (at the previously quoted $39) if you change your mind.

Silly question, but safe to purchase upgrade from everyplugin instead of synchroarts?

Bought lots of stuff from EveryPlugin - never had an issue.
That's where I'll buy my upgrade unless JR Shop ends up having a better deal.  So far they haven't added it to their catalog.

    Available at Arturia too now.
However, we can now already see what's new:
Now included: CP-70 V, the MiniFreak V, and the Acid V, Augmented Brass, Augmented Grand Piano, and Augmented Woodwinds.
Rebuilt: Mini V and Wurli V
Three new exclusive expansion packs included

My price from Arturia for the upgrade: $149 for Mini V,  Wurli V and Acid V.
Mini V and Wurli V should both be free updates.  Sick of every tweak being a chargeable new version.
To hell with Arturia - unless I breakdown and buy some hardware (keyboard or such) they will not get another dime from me.

  8. Upgrade from Revoice Pro 4:
    $139  $69 during intro offer
    $57.72  @ Larry's link: https://everyplugin.com/revoice-pro-5.html

Promo video on Revoice Pro 5:

    from web site:

What's new with Revoice Pro 5?

Revoice Pro 5 is jam-packed with the latest pitch editing technology with advanced pitch correction tools - including the Shaper Tool and Control Points - enabling you to have precise, professionally-tuned vocals fast.

Completely new to Revoice is time-saving feature SmartPitch which intelligently understands when to match your doubles and harmonies, and when to maintain them. A game-changing feature if you work with lots of doubles and harmonies!

We've also made significant improvements to the way Revoice connects to your DAW. We've updated the non-ARA link plugin so you can audition how your processed audio will sound in context with any FX, panning and level applied and automatic transfer of processed audio that gets 'committed' to your project without the need for import / export. For VST users (Ableton Live, Studio One, Cubase, etc.), we've made the UI more intuitive with the ability to initiate processing in Revoice Pro from the Link plugin whilst sending audio across to Revoice Pro, saving time in the editing process.

Any thoughts on this one? This should be one of their newer offerings for the VCA compressor.
But I already have so many VCAs that I dEfInItElY need a new one ?

If you missed getting one of the other Softube comp/limiters (Opto or FET) getting this may drop the upgrade to the Icons: The Compressor Collection set.

Of all the Plugin vendors out there this one, for some unbeknownst reason, never interested me...

    Maybe it's the green, IDK...LOL

Maybe that for a long time they were Mac only and obnoxiously proud about that?
Eventually the lure of cash for creating Windows versions of their plugins won out.

I like & appreciate MACs (I own a couple), just don't care for the attitude of many of their cult users
Working in corporate IT, I'd run into that a lot. Many of these same people had to have boot camp installed on their Macs because they couldn't do their jobs without multiple Windows applications.
I don't care what you use, Mac, Linux or Windows, if it does what you need it to do - then more power to you; if not then maybe you're an idiot for letting your pride get in the way of your productivity.

  11. @chris.r Lack of ports was initially an issue when I transitioned from a desktop to laptop but once I started using an active hub that issue became irrelevant**.
**If mobility is major factor in using your laptop as an audio device then maybe not solution.

This is the current active USB that I am using and I am very happy with it.
Amazon.com: Powered USB Hub, Rosonway 10 Port USB 3.1/3.2 Gen 2 Hub 10Gbps with 36W (12V/3A) Power Adapter, Type A and Type C Cables, Aluminum USB C Hub Splitter for PC and Laptop (RSH-A10S)
only complaint is that the lights that indicate whether you have a port turned on / off are very dim and hard to see; fortunately the on/off buttons can be seen (depressed when port is on) or felt to verify.

My usage (of external USB hub):

    • I currently have 3 external drives connected
2 SSD for mainly audio, 1 platter drive for storing downloads and rarely accessed files.
    • iLok 3
    • Cubase 11 dongle (forget what it's called)
    • and a small (literally and sizewise) to store licenses for my PA plugins, Waves plugins, and a couple of others.

Note on iLok dongle - it's when you replace or setup a 2nd computer that you realize what a blessing it can be.
One authorization of iLok software and all the iLok plugins are authorized. When my previous computer died and I had to set up my current machine it took me weeks to authorize all the others.

I just keep my licenses on the key. I have to work remotely and offline for days at a time sometimes. And internet connections go down all the time even with the best infrastructure.  The cloud system just seems like a nightmare scenario when deadlines are looming.

    similar...

I haven't & won't touch the cloud version.  If that's the only version supported by a plugin I won't buy it.
I use my iLok 3 dongle** (all metal beasty currently selling for around $45) and if I didn't have that I'd do the local computer install.
**and quite happy with it.  Haven't had any iLok issues since Windows 98.

    They can't all be winners.

That really all depends on what you're looking for.

If you need something different (e.g. cinematic vocals for something like The Shining or 2001 or horror flick) Tutti Vox can be spot on and hard if not impossible to mimic with other vocal libs.
Probably not going to work with your rock ballad or easy listening romantic masterpiece - but it's not meant to.
