[ SOLVED ] How to know a Stereo Track?
reginaldStjohn replied to sadicus's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
A stereo file is partly determined by how many channels it has. If it has 2 channels then it could be a stereo file. I think what you are asking is how to know if the two channel file contains stereo information or if it only holds mono (dual mono) information. One way to tell is use as stereo meter and it has information other then on the straight up and down then it contains stereo information. Another way is to use a mid - side decoder tool and if the side doesn't have any sound then it is a dual mono waveform -
You would need a laptop, or a Windows OS device and a decent USB audio interface. Processor speed is important, RAM and HD capacity and speed are important for loading virtual instruments. In general Laptops are not optimal for music production because of windows wanting to reduce performance to conserve battery power. There are people who use them it is just harder to setup and get working consistently well with a laptop.

Here are a couple of threads that could help you. Also, Azslow forum member has quite a few supported control surfaces with his custom control surface plugin. https://www.azslow.com/index.php/board,7.0.html?PHPSESSID=dkc9va3kei2fp6onostt5bpad5

bug report Clip Automation in export not working correctly
reginaldStjohn replied to SgtRumpel's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
If you can reproduce it I would send a zipped up version of your project, including the audio folder, to Support@cakewalk.com so they can see, and hopefully fix, those issues. -
Melodyne or even the built in audio transpose may be able to do this. The quality of that much shifting would have to be up to you to decide if it is acceptable.

Is it possible to create a virtual band?
reginaldStjohn replied to צביקה שמואלי's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
You could also use a template with your Kontakt setup the way you want it for new files. However, this will not load automatically if you click on a midi file. You would have to open it manually and then add your midi file to the setup midi track. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=Templates_KeyBindings.2.html -
feature request Normalize clips and exported audio files to RMS/LUFS
reginaldStjohn replied to Jyri T.'s topic in Feedback Loop
I think one of the issues is that LUFs and other loudness algorithms have a time associated with them. You usually don't just say, I want this whole song to be at -20LUFS. You generally want the loudest part of the song to be at some loudness limit. The loudness will vary as the song goes along. Therefore, the program would have to analyze the whole song file to find the loudest part and then figure out what gain, compression, limiting etc. to do to get the loudest part at the desired loudness. Izotope's Ozone actually does some of this but as you play with it you see that it is more dynamic then just saying "Make this whole song this level". -
That sounds like something about the difference between the active track and the selected track. I don't completely understand it but it comes up at times when you, for example, copy from the active track to a selected track but don't want to change the active track. Maybe there is something in the manual about it?

How to get Audio Snap off of a clip??
reginaldStjohn replied to sean72's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Also, bring up the audio snap pallet and turn it off. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=AudioSnap.05.html -
The zoom icon just makes all the tracks smaller or larger. If you want a particular track larger then you need to drag the border of the track down or up. You can also use auto track zoom to have a different size for the selected track and a different size for the unselected tracks.

Change MP3 export default encoder settings?
reginaldStjohn replied to sean72's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
You are right. I can't get the bit rate to save anywhere either. It seems that the MP3 encoder is called after all the export settings and does not have a save. Maybe there is a configuration file somewhere? I would go to the Feedback Loop forum and add a feature request. Or maybe someone there knows how to do it. -
Change MP3 export default encoder settings?
reginaldStjohn replied to sean72's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Please see the documentation. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Exporting.08.html Especially this line 13. If you want to save the settings you created in the Export Audio dialog box, type a name in the Preset box, then press ENTER or click the Create Preset button . -
There is a lot of useful information, including videos, for much of this stuff in the Tutorials section of the forum. Also, become familiar with the documentation as it has most of the answers, including pictures, of many of these questions.

I have had one for a few years now. The additional updates have been quite good as well.

Cakewalk crashes after exporting audio
reginaldStjohn replied to seege's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
@Kris Sutton Search your hard drive for where this file is. It could be in a default vst3 directory that is scanned automatically? -
Generally the arranger tracks are for after you have parts recorded to move them around and "re-arrange". To record just a section, click on the section and it should select the time region of the arranger section. Then enable punch-in for that selection. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Arranging.02.html

Do you mean the HW output channel strips? If so I think you could do this by just creating a bus for each output you want and then routing the bus to the desired output. The HW outputs just show the signal as it goes to the desired outputs and cakewalk doesn't have direct control of the signal once it leaves the busses and goes into the HW.

bug report My smart grid is broken, I need help!
reginaldStjohn replied to Vandactoin!'s topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I think a picture or video of what you are seeing could be helpful. It is also useful to note that the PRV has its own on/off and snap settings. Maybe this is affecting what your seeing? If you look at the documentation it does mention something about the smartgrid setting changing when you zoom. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=4&help=ControlBar.05.html- 2 replies

Ezdrummer 3 midi not working with cakewalk
reginaldStjohn replied to Michael Finnity's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
You could also send a simple project to Support@cakewalk.com and see if they can reproduce it. However, I am sure many people, including myself. use Ezdrummer3 successfully in Cakewalk so it my be something specific with your computer setup or install. -
How to keep midi note selection after undo...
reginaldStjohn replied to Rok TheKasbah's question in Q&A
Not that I know of. -
Sounds more like a video card issue then an audio issue. Don't know how to fix it but you could try rebooting your computer, updating your video driver or see if there are some video card settings you could play with.

Higher Sample Rates Sound Bad(44100, 4800)
reginaldStjohn replied to Hannah's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
If this is the same device that is used by windows then make sure that windows sound has the sample rate and bit depth set to the same thing you are trying to set it too in Cakewalk -
You may want to check the "plugin load balancing" setting and try it both checked and un-checked. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=NewFeatures.017.html
