GMP, Yes, most digital mixers are an audio interface as well so you don't need another audio interface. You again would need to investigate each mixer your interested in to see what its capabilities are.
-
Yes to almost all your questions. A digital mixer is just like an analog mixer except that it converts all the analog audio coming into it to digital, just like a daw. Any audio outputs are coverted from digital to analog on the way out. The digital side makes it possible to do routing that would be difficult or more expensive on an analog console. Also the effects in a digital mixer are usually done on the digital side. I don't now about all digital mixers but I do have a Behringer X32 producer. You can input whatever analog gear you want, microphones, guitars, keyboards etc. It also has a 32 in/32 out USB audio interfrace. You can have your DAW of choice receive audio input from the mixers inputs and output to the mixer's output. It has motorized faders that remember different scenes, busses, aux, sends or channel levels. It can act as a DAW controller but is somewhat limited in that it doesn't have pots for panning and not all the knobs and buttons on the console can be used for DAW control. I have used the faders to control channels in Sonar and other DAWS and setup some buttons to do play/stop/pause control Other Digital mixers will have varied features so you would need to do your homework to determine which, if any suit your needs.

Bass Amp Plugin - Which One Do You Like?
reginaldStjohn replied to Scott's topic in Instruments & Effects
IK Multimedia Amplitube or ToneX. I also use Line 6 Helix Native. -
You could certianly put a marker on the timeline 'm' key to insert one if that would help you. However, i think that just counting and knowing where your going to start singing would be the best choice. Practice a few times until you get it right. You can also sing one and even if it is not right on time you can move the waveform back to where it needs to be to give you an audible cue as well as a visual waveform to indicate where to start.

The only way that Sonar could cause your fan to turn on is if it was using a lot of CPU and thus the CPU temperature was rising causing the fan to turn on to try to keep the temperature under control. Fans on the PC are controlled by BIOS and run according to load and temperature inputs. It is possible that Sonar is getting in a tight loop or processing that indicates to the BIOS that it needs to turn on the fan(s). You should see a coresponding spike in CPU activity in the task manager, even if it is one core getting pegged at 100 percent.

What if you tried copying the wave file that is in the shared drive to your local project audio folder? It could be a permission issue or shared drive specific thing.

How to rename multiple tracks at once
reginaldStjohn replied to evanking345's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
Just curious, Why would you want all your tracks named the same? -
I gave up on positive grid a year or so ago. The sound was good but the UI was slow to load and other software seemed to get me to my sound faster.

How to affect one of the drum maps
reginaldStjohn replied to Ian Macpherson's topic in Instruments & Effects
The drum map isnt a synth it just maps the notes to particular channels and a synth. You need to replace the tts synth with a different one. No drum map needed unless you want to use one for a specific purpose. -
Depends on your budget but here are some to look at: https://zoomcorp.com/en/us/digital-mixer-multi-track-recorders/ https://tascam.com/us/category/mixer?srsltid=AfmBOoqHnVsmd6rmU6xMXGqHNI7mS-eId3bHQbc4fIZOJBQjCzbA8a6S

I own BBCSO core. It is still $130 for me. I guess the "course" is what they are charging for?

Your title says it is a new computer. Did you transfer you old hardrive contents to your new computer? Did you put the old hardrive in the new computer? Windows 11 should not mess with your files on the filesystem just by installing it. However, if it is a new hardrive you will have to transfer all your files over and re-install all your software.

That actually is a good price. The pedals used to be $399 and they have raised the normal price to $429 or something like that.

Try everything at 48kHz
-
I believe if you use the same audio device for windows sounds as you do for Sonar then they need to be set to the same sample rate. So either have everything set to 48kHz or use the onboard audio for windows and your UM2 just for Sonar or other dedicated apps.

Looks like their stuff is on sale as well. British bundle is $19.99 when I went to thier site. -
Try hitting the pause or scroll lock button on your keyboard. I haven't had that problem myself but some suggest that this can cause the playhead to stop.

VST GUIs too small in Free Sonar
reginaldStjohn replied to Mat Sincock's topic in Instruments & Effects
VST size is not controlled by the host, Sonar, so it would be determined by the resolution of your monitor and whether the VST supports scaling. You can lower the display dpi or use a zoom tool. Sonar does have a dpi setting as well. https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/articles/32482343923865-Sonar-Display-Scale -
Thanks for being back with all these deals Larry.

Sounds like a system issue. You should first try to repair/update/reinstall your windows installation. Then I would contact one of the DAW manufacturers for help (Support@cakewalk.com) for example.
