I downloaded the demo of RC-20. Is it just me, or does every preset (except the vinyl) make a track sound like total garbage? ? But the price! LOL. ?

UH-oh! Good thing I haven't updated yet! Still on 11.0.12. ?

Live 11 allows one defined VST2 folder path, and also allows you to select a custom VST3 path. I leave the VST3 at the default location. For an extra VST2 path, what you can do is place a Windows shortcut in Live's defined VST2 path that points to another folder, such as the Cakewalk VST2 path in Program files. That works for me here. Then they show up in Live's Plug-ins browser as VST listed under "Cakewalk VSTPlugins - shortcut".

Yup, with Plugin Boutique, the exchange rate with PayPal gets me every time. I end up paying slightly more in USD at the final tally than what was quoted (obviously not real-time) in my shopping cart. ?

I believe that is correct. What you would need to do is host your chosen VSTi instrument(s), AND the VST2 effect inside of a Unify VST3 plugin as a wrapper, in a Cubase instrument track. You could then apply the VST2 effect to the instrument(s) hosted in Unify, and that audio would be mixed and sent out to the Cubase track that is hosting the wrapper. I did notice that Kushview Element has both VSTi and VST versions, but have not tried the FX version yet. The instrument version works great!

I'm all in for "Underground Yodeling"!!! ?

I realized a while back that I did not have the discipline or patience to organize and then sift through a massive sample collection. Now I am organizing and sifting through a massive instrument preset collection instead. ? I think that the advantage with this method is that presets are much easier to audition within the context of the track. You can quickly alter them by changing the MIDI pattern, either by playing the part yourself, or using a MIDI pattern generator where you are in control of the pattern/chord elements. I don't think samples are quite that flexible.

FYI, Bapu cheated because he let the forum mods here transfer his legacy post count over from the old Cakewalk forum when it was locked. What a head start! ?

Bapu probably beat you to it.

Yes, I have also experimented with the Amadeus Symphony in Kontakt. Great full range, all-in-one orchestral patch that is! Luftrum Bioscape has some very cool ambient presets for Kontakt as well. https://www.luftrum.com/bioscape/

The current Sonitus plugs should be 64-bit DX, in your 64-bit Program Files path. The 2-pins (dots as you call them) vs. 4-pins appearance depends on whether you have the Cakewalk mixing engine set to 64-bit precision or not, and does not determine the "bitness" of the plugin itself. See scooks link above for the details.

Tony Banks is the legend!

Using Wotja as a MIDI generator, ambient sound banks should come in handy!

The Vangelis banks have got some great CS-80 patches!

Enjoy! It should keep you busy for a while!

BlueARP is the bundled (with permission) arpeggiator used by PluginGuru in the commercial plugin Unify. Adds a lot to the layered patches in Unify. https://pluginguru.net/unify/manual/doku.php?id=bluearp

I'm saving Kavinsky, Strawberry Fields, and Stardust for the next round! I think that Floyd, JMJ, Tangerine Dream, and Vangelis had the overall biggest influence on my early interest in electronic music. However my initial interest in synths was sparked by the first time I ever heard "Switched-On Bach" performed on a Moog synth by Wendy (Walter) Carlos. I was hooked forever!

I grabbed this freebie recently based on this write-up from the BPB Newsletter: https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2022/01/23/abstract-crystal-pads/ Since it comes in multiple formats, I grabbed the plugin, The Kontakt (full) version, and the sample pack. The light disk footprint is measured in MB's not GB's, and sounds good!

I noticed that a few were done by Nori for both companies. I doubt they are the same, but some are probably close. I have the SynthMaster Everything bundle. My preference would still be to get them from Arturia anyway, since I have the full V Collection. It would be cool to see how he set up the actual controls on a model of the original synth front panel vs. with how it is done in SynthMaster with waveform samples in the oscillator and generic SynthMaster controls for filter, LFO, mod matrix, etc.

Ableton updates Live to v11.1 - Apple Silicon / M1 Support

FYI, I wasn't actually referring to the 11.1 update. I was linking to the Ableton page for improving computer performance on ALL Live versions... -

Hey man, I do wish you luck! Have no other ideas... and can't imagine why it's just Ableton being a troublemaker on yours. That's really weird! ? I have observed in general that laptops are known to make notorious compromises when it comes to their form factor, when compared with desktops, especially for demanding real-time applications like DAWs. I don't mean to bash laptops, as I have owned several. But all consumer laptops are specifically designed to fit components into a very tight space with little ventilation, conserve power to maximize battery life, and use a lower power version of the CPU (mobile ) to minimize heat output. Plus some BIOS options to adjust performance parameters are typically hidden from the end user. Those compromises can pose additional challenges to the already thorny path for setting up a high performance DAW! -
Added today: Air Tribute, JMJ Tribute, Tangerine Tribute, Tears Tribute, Vangelis Tribute, & Vangelis Tribute II. $25.94 total. Don't forget that you install sound banks from Analog Lab, and not the Arturia Software Manager. Click on the store link in the left pane, and then check "Owned" on the store page in Analog Lab. You will see a download icon on the sound bank image for those that that you have not installed yet. Just click on that icon to download it!

I looked at the Ableton Forum, and it seemed that the majority of the recent (past 2 years) complaints for fan noise were made by Macbook Pro users.
