  1. Even with the V Collection, I would still recommend using the Analog Lab V to browse and audition the sounds from the AL V browser. And the AL V macro controls are already setup to tweak the most common performance controls in each preset, so you don't really need to open the full synth edit page. I currently have 12,578 presets available to search from in my Analog Lab V browser. That includes all of the full V Collection 8 presets, the Pigments 3.5 presets, plus a few additional Arturia and 3rd party libraries. So being able to search all of those presets from a single browser makes it a bit more manageable. Still chipping away at marking my favorites for a faster search. It is a massive keyboard collection, and more than just synths! Piano, Digital Pianos, Clavinet, Organs, Mellotron, etc. Analog Lab will let you open the full instrument in edit view if you own it, so once you find a sound you like and want to tweak it more to taste, that is very accessible with one click. But Analog Lab alone is quite a value. I already had Analog Lab V, Pigments, and Piano V, so I wasn't really planning to upgrade to V Collection. Until Arturia sent me an upgrade deal that I couldn't refuse last year. But I'm really glad that I did the full upgrade!
  2. Or just buy the V Collection! It includes Analog Lab V. You know you want it!
  3. I should have said that it's impossible for the offense to score with a punt play. It's intent is simply to turn over possession of the ball to the opposing team and push them back as far away from your goal as possible. Similar to the way a goalie defending their goal in soccer (futbol) can drop kick the ball away. The alternative would be a place kick play for a field goal, that may or may not go over the upright at the goal posts. The punt is reserved for situations where you are too far away to kick a field goal.
  4. When we Americans PUNT there is no realistic expectation to score a point, it's not like kicking a field goal. We are giving the ball back to the opposing team for them to begin a new offensive drive with. But the explanation of the Irish Pound (PUNT) is very interesting! Or the English version, "worth a bet" (PUNT). Wow, this word sure can be confusing, LOL! Either of those would make sense in the context of "worth a punt".
  5. That phrase had me wondering for a minute. In American football, "to punt" means kicking the ball away to the other team. Apparently over there "worth a punt" means "worth a bet". I get it now!

  7. If it's even possible for Steinberg to revoke existing VST2 development licenses, I am pretty sure that would only apply to new development, not your existing VST2 plugins. They already exist, and so there's no way to turn them off, except in the host.
  8. I think that I prefer the drum sound in the video in bypass mode.
  9. Many of the ST3 sounds are not duplicated in ST4, but are available and used in ST4. So you may not want to remove the ST3 libraries path for that reason. You don't need the old application anymore, but that really doesn't use all that much space. ST3 here uses 135MB in Program Files and 217KB for the plugin .dll.
  10. Truth! I have an original Alesis QS6 from the 90's, and some other Roland gear, including an Roland XP-30, fully expanded. Had a Korg X2 Workstation at one point in the 90's. Still haven't given in to the modern analog hardware renaissance. Not enough cash and space keeps me from buying, LOL! So ITB is my thing now!
  11. I guess that it would make the most sense to begin with an EZbass line that you like in this case, and build the rest of your song around that. Keep it simple.
  12. I also have a vintage Roland JV-1080 in the closet, that I haven't hooked up in years... never could afford a DX7 either, LOL!
  13. Skippy demonstrated the TX816 Unify patches on his livestream on Saturday. He mentioned that he had the original Yamaha unit, but with only 2 modules, because he couldn't afford all 8 at the time, which was something like $5,000. His parents owned a music store at the time and had sent him and the store's piano tuner on a road trip to see a Yamaha demo of the DX. He was hooked on synth programming from that point on. He's a happy camper now that he can run all 8 modules!
  14. Yamaha TX816 Factory Patches UNIFIED (w/Link) All you need is PluginGuru Unify to use this. It leverages the bundled free Dexed DX7 FM synth emulation that Unify includes, and is able to load DX7 factory patches. https://forums.pluginguru.com/unify-patchbook/yamaha-tx816-factory-patches-unified-w-link/ The TX816 was a rack synth with 8 DX7 modules. So Unify emulates this by using 8 layers of Dexed, with some custom tweaks by John "Skippy" Lehmkuhl, to make some big FM sounds!
  15. And there are other good reasons to check out Unify! The ease with which you can add instrument layers to a unify preset to build up big layered sounds is one. And the fact that you can do so without needing to pop open the original synth GUIs speeds up the loading and is a more efficient use of your system resources. https://pluginguru.net/unify/manual/doku.php?id=layer-stack-view You can have as many layers as your computer can handle. https://pluginguru.net/unify/manual/doku.php?id=threadpoolsize All Instrument layers are processed simultaneously, in separate threads. https://pluginguru.net/unify/manual/doku.php?id=cpu-meters
  16. To avoid problems, I would recommend installing Cakewalk on the system "C:" drive under "Program files", then put your Cakewalk content elsewhere, such as the "D:" drive.
  17. Direct link to Rapture presets, including Muz3uM at Wayback Machine here: https://web.archive.org/web/20171011201724/http://patcharena.com/downloads/index.php?subcat=83&ENGINEsessID=c870f94b8eb7558f15df27f760e71ae6
  18. https://www.musicradar.com/reviews/baby-audio-parallel-aggressor "Spank" and "Heat" are all you need to know! Unless you prefer "Dry". ?
  19. Is the Cakewalk audio engine dropping out? Have you tried switching the Audio Engine button off/on instead of restarting plugins? The Audio Engine button https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR X2&language=3&help=Recording.24.html
